What was really crazy to me is that in the limited scenes we did get of Atlas and Lily‘s character in the film. They have really good chemistry and I feel like there storyline overall took a backseat to the movie. Initially that wouldn’t be a problem, but when you recognize that literally and figuratively, Lily runs into the arms of atlas as a place of safety and refuge, I just wish they would’ve done a better job at showing Lillys emotional attachment to him into adulthood that’s all.
This movie was awesome! It was one of the best movies I have seen this year and I am a guy. My Dad also loved the movie. I know it will not get oscars attention but both the movie and Blake Lively should get some awards credit. It will end up being better than some of the Oscar movies later on.
I did feel the chemistry between Lily and Ryle. I did not GET any palpable tension between adult Lily and Atlas. Also was annoyed there was no development of the friendship between Lily and Alyssa. Alyssa shows up and Lily gives her a job. Then suddenly they just say they’re best friends without ever talking that personally or doing anything as friends without Ryle.
This was a good LIFETIME movie that they put on tv evening screen. Should’ve stuck to LIFETIME. This film needed more Atlas and Lily scenes. It’s like Bridgerton POLIN all over again.
First off, where did you get your shirt? I like it. I'm hiring you for this great role I have in mind. Secondly, they probably didn't do a chemistry test, so that's probably why chemistry and pizzaz was lacking especially as the whole first half of the movie was setting up the relationship between the two. They could have cut out half of the first half. Literally the first 1 hour of the movie or possibly 40 minutes could have been condensed. Needless scenes with Hasan Minaj. He was there to make the movie more colored. There were only two other asians in the movie while the extras casting head was ironically Asian. Not sure what that says of the industry. Generally this movie doesn't make it to the silver screen these days because of its long run time, moral issues, and first (fizzled) half dedicated to character introduction and building. The screen writer was maybe lost because the acting was otherwise good, just many scenes didn't need to be there in the first half. I didn't read the book but I'm assuming a lot of atlas character was cut out of the movie.
As someone who also read both books, Thank you so much for your review Wendy!!! ❤❤❤❤!!!! I agree with you with your review! I noticed alot of side characters gone but since they kept to the main narative with the main characters they get a pass. And YAAAAAAASSSS FOR CASTING FOR ALLYSA AND MARSHALL! 🔥🔥🔥!!! Indeed! I agreed with the flashes in comparison to the diaries providing the details of the past. Right?! It took me a min with Chemistry for Ryle and Lily but LIVE ACTION ATLAS 🔥🔥🔥🔥!!! I honestly really hope they do the 2nd book too 😏😏😏😏😏😏.... I honestly liked this Book to Screen Adaptation more than 'The Idea of Us' adaptation 😒😒😒😒😒😒....
Don’t hate me please domestic violence isn’t ok but it’s not okay to cheat she emotionally and verbally cheating I believe that Justin should have been Atlas and the other guy should have been Rylie because I really want her to end up with Justin because Rafael Solano Jane the virgin i constantly watch the show I really love Justin so much everytime I watch I can’t stop thinking about him or watching his show and shows and movies i just disagree with you i love Blake and Justin in this i really feel the chemistry was so much and want more I am disappointed that they didn’t end up together because he really should have been Atlas I love you I’m just trying to give you my opinion you look beautiful in this video here a great night ❤❤❤❤
@MA-yc7pz I agree also. And not to mention the awful wardrobe selections. It was so distracting. I also felt Blake's acting was so flat. Justin was good in it tho. The movie felt choppy to me and I felt like I was watching a lifetime movie instead. Yhe book is intense, this was very watered down.

I'm HERE for live-action Atlas. Branden was great, and it makes me want them to do It Starts With Us so we can see him as Atlas again.

I think the cast was not good ...they should have been younger
@@MA-yc7pz I totally agree. It was off for me since it made a major difference if in the movie as they look a lot older.
