If they do not fuck it up, then a Doctor Doom movie would be akin to the most thunderous orgasm known to man. But they'll fuck it up. They always fuck it up. Doctor Doom is a villain that, with a competent writer, is easy to get right: make him evil, but also annoyingly correct about a lot of things, which makes it hard to hate him or what he does. Make him monologue all the time and essentially have him love himself more than anyone ever has. Then make him a complete badass. There, done. You've got Doom. Insert Fantastic Four to be schmucks who win through some stupid deus ex machina, and you've got your average F4/Doom setup.

I love the idea of Mads as Doom, but how the hell do you make a Doctor Doom movie without the Fantastic Four? . "Another chance with the fans?" Just give them up to Marvel so they can do it right...like Sony and Spider-Man.
Honestly I'm tired of hearing Marvel doesn't do good villains. Take a serious look at Fox, Sony ( before the collaboration ) and DCEU. The villains haven't been fantastic say for a few. That being said, I can see Marvel doing a good job with Dr. Doom and more importantly doing great with the Fantastic Four. It's honestly time they go home. We don't need 4 Fox FourStick movies, ( Corman's doesn't count ). I am so thankful for this channel. Always giving facts and ones own perspective equally, making for great content. 👍🏻
I think a Doctor Doom solo movie will not work, if it's just about his rule over Latveria then that's just going to be boring because where's the 2 hours story in that? Just let it go already and give Fantastic Four back to Marvel for the MCU.
9:10, doubtful Midnight's Edge in regards to Mads Mikkelsen chances of playing Dr Doom in a future MCU FF movie because of his role as another character in Dr Strange? People like Ryan Reynolds have played several comic book characters on the big screen. he's played; Hannibal King in Blade Trinity, Deadpool in X-Men Origins Wolverine, Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie and Detective Nick Walker in R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Division). Compared to Ryan Reynolds i'd say Mads Mikkelsen still has the potential to still play Dr Doom on the big screen one day! His Dr Strange antagonist character in Kaecilius, was kind of a throw away character to begin with. With a massive do-over Mads Mikkelsen could also play Victor Von Doom and develop him far differently than his previous role in Dr Strange. So no i'd say his options to play another role in the MCU are still very much open however, due to the man's talent?!
I don´t think a Dr.Doom movie would make much money. The problem is, it has to be like a fictional/fantasy/history/political drama. And to be honest, thats nothing most people want to see. On the other hand, done RIGHT a FF movie outside of the marvel universe CAN work. There are just idiots at fox that write/direct/produce the movies.
I dont think its really to late. Look at the Captain America movies that came out before the MCU ones. There were (i think) 4. One from the 50s (or so) that had almost nothing to do with Cap, Two in the 70s that were booth terrible and the one from the 90s. All really shitty movies.
xxstyxx fantastic.four pretty.much started outside the marvel universe anyway because they were the first before namor and spider man were brought in, and then cap was brought back. Basically they started as soon works outside of anything. Namor existed first but there wasn't an eataished universe and he was basically an old golden age character.
FOX is the worst movie studio on the planet. They have absolutely ruined the Fantastic Four movie series. They ruined the Alien franchise. They are in the process of ruining the X-Men franchise. Deadpool was a great movie, but that was a fluke for FOX. They'll probably screw up the sequel. Bunch of idiots at FOX.
"hey you guys know that horrible movie we made that bombed at the box office and made us look like idiots?" "you mean fant4stic?" "yeah lets make another one of those except we'll base it around the relatively obscure villain, doctor doom. I'm sure most people in the mainstream will know who doctor doom is and also want to see a follow up to the career ending film Fant4stic" "what a great idea"
God, I hope that they don't make Doom into another angsty jerk or evil Tony Stark clone. They need to integrate the magical aspects of his abilities, along with Doombots, and the fact that Latveria is actually a prosperous nation.
I trust Noah Hawley after the incredible job he did with Legion so far but the jump from an FX show to a tentpole blockbuster film is a jump some have had trouble doing. However I like to be optimistic about most things so for now I'll give this film the benefit of the doubt. If Fox with Deadpool and Logan have learnt to just focus on making individual films that are great and unique then their films can really standout among the shared universes of the MCU and DCEU.
Darth Lehnsherr He's speaking for his superiors at Fox, who're a bunch of bratty preschoolers who refuse to share their toys. He's most likely lying to everyone at Comic-Con.
I beg to differ. While Doom is a great character, his role is that of a villain. Giving him a solo movie makes as much sense as the solo Venom movie without Spidey. That being said, Mikkelsen would kill it in that role.
As usual, Andre delivers the goods. Fox needs to be punished by the fans even worse if they do another rights grab. They have proven their ineptitude time and time again. I hope they lose even more money on the next FF project.
Dr Doom could've have been a great main antagonist for Phase 4 of the MCU. 1, because it would be a breath of fresh air after godlike villains such as Thanos and Loki. 2, it would be a great way to lead into Galactus, another big godlike threat.
It could still happen as yet, Doom may be teased at the end of phase 4, then come into the MCU in phase 5 and eventually Galactus could be the next big thanos villain at the end of phase 6!
Reed MUST be in his late 30's or preferably early 40's. Sue should be in her early 30's and Johnny in his early to mid 20's. Ben should me the same age as Reed and a military veteran. Doctor Doom should not be wrapped in tinfoil but rather MUST wear mediaeval armour. Do NOT make it a kiddie movie or an Incredibles ripoff. Do not under any circumstances change the ethnic identities of the characters. If you feel the need to add black characters, Make them supporting characters. Best of all, either surrender the characters back to Marvel or at least work WITH them as Sony did. Don't be assholes.
Yup. Another *great* video by my.. uh Midnight's Edge. Realistically, Fox needs to get a deal with Marvel (like Sony) to put the F4 in the MCU. In my wildest hopes and dreams the rights goes back to Marvel. Honestly guys great analysis and recap, can't wait to watch your vids! And just for the record, I DO NOT click on the videos JUST to hear Andre's voice. Not *just* for that, you understand. No siree, not me.😍 :whistles while walking away. Slowly:
I was in the third grade when Secret Wars was out and it was one of the first comic series I ever owned. Cemented me as a Marvel fan. I'm 42 now, but can still reflect back on the fat that Doom was the only one to directly challenge The Beyonder, (almost died trying) and won. Also, when he became all-powerful, rather than kill the good guys, he simply called their conflict finished (which it kind of was). Doom is the best.
There was a comic book a while ago called "Empire" where a Doctor Doom style villain literally conquerors the world and has killed off all his villain rivals and all superheroes. That could make an interesting basic premise of a standalone Doctor Doom movie, if done right. Doom has won, he has defeated all the worlds governments and super-beings and is in total control of the world. The film could showcase how Doctor Doom would stop uprisings and stop countless takeover attempts by his underling villain lieutenants. The original "Wanted" comic, which was "An in name only" when they made a movie of it, was a similar premise. Comic books are real and basically all the DC villain's (who they altered the names/looks so they did not break any copyright/Trademark, but you could easily see who they were supposed to be) joined forces and defeated all their universes super heroes. Their version of Batman was turned into an aging actor from a TV version of his actual identity, after they altered reality to wipe out their original universes history. It just was very amusing that in the "Wanted" universe Adam West actually WAS Batman and the reason why it was so camp is that the villains were screwing with him after he was defeated.
Mads would make a GREAT Doom IMO, just as long as they don't mess with his origins/looks/powers/etc. Doom is menacing due to his unshakeable will and superior intellect and arrogance and I believe he would pull it off perfectly.
I do disagree that the Fantastic 4 can't work outside the Marvel universe, I mean if Fox had made good films, I'd be fine with them not being in the MCU. Though I have no cofindence in them, so they might as well just make a deal at this point.
I was kinda hoping for Marvel to be making a Doctor Doom movie if they ever get the rights. Like, have the Fantastic Four be the hero antagonist, while also keeping their politics from Civil War in some shape
I'm all onboard for a Mads Mikkelsen Dr Doom film. That's fantastic casting. I don't think a good Fantastic Four film is impossible outside of the MCU. They just need to follow the comics tone and have a good, well thought out script.
I actually got a little nervous when I heard news of the Doctor Doom treatment because it's entirely possible that Fox could stumble into a success though just a week or so prior I recalled talk of a Spy Kids-like Fantastic Four treatment, and realized they're literally shooting in the dark with the FF franchise.
Fantastic Four being too gritty is wrong but so to is making it a kiddy style flick as well however! The 2004 Thunderbirds movie was on TV today, a film that would've potentially kicked off a film series of movies. Its big mistake however was making it in the vein of; Spy Kids and thus exactly why we saw no film series develop beyond the 2004 movie of T-Birds. The same will happen yet again if Fantastic Four or any film spun off from the FF property. Wants to try a kiddy format direction instead of treating the source material properly with the right material adapted from the original comic books by somebody with the correct vision and direction for it all. And the tone isn't kiddy oriented at all.
It would be so cool if Fox gave the rights to use Dr.Doom as a cameo in "Infinity Wars part 2," just throw him as an anti-hero in a desperate fight scene, with no back story(Wouldn't be necessary because of the circumstances) have him perform a Pyrrhic victory in a bad ass way, saving a couple of people, perform some analysts some on one or more of the infinity gems and then teleport retreat out of the battle. The audience would be WTF? Was that Dr. Doom? :)
God dammit, for half a second I thought this meant Mads Mikkelsen was gonna play Doomguy. Imagine it. Hannibal feasting on Imp liver with a dressed Baron of Hell skull at the end of the table.
5:30 That's it, that picture inspired me! A new high budget Power Pack movie, that's what fan's have been waiting for! Anyway I'm not against X-Men rights not reverting to Marvel since they actually do work on their own, without the larger marvel Universe. For a long time the comics actually did run rather independent from the other Marvel comics as well, and it did them good. But I agree that the Fantastic Four are different, and that even more importantly, they just have some of the best villains that are wasted on Fox.
I think you should go back to the old intro music and the bass guitar version should go to After Dark. It says "We're Midnight's Edge... but a bit different".
I'm disappointed that Fantastic 4 will never get the horror edge, that really would have been a great setting for them. With their optimistic family comradery juxtaposed with the dark grim horror of the unknown. Shame. While Trank screwed up, I believe he was on the right track for an adult version of F4. Doom on the other hand, they'll screw up guaranteed, because they'll put in either a antagonist thwarting him or they'll add in a dumb hero trying to defeat him. They won't grasp this should be a character study piece that was about a super villain. And they won't do anything risque like Doom converting a naive hero into a pawn. Even better if they do it as a political commentary on Putin and Russia, that would be good too.... Oh well.
Who is going to pay to see yet another fantastic Four reboot? No one cares at this point. The only way to catch audience attention and enthusiasm for FF is if it were going to be connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
For fuck sake fox just fucking let go the fantastic four rights, you already damaged the property enough, making a doctor doom movie isn't gonna make that much money since he got fucked too many times, just focus on xmen.
kid friendly fantastic four remember batman and robin. just work a deal with marvel and bring them into the MCU no more terrible ff movies. It's diminishing the brand into garbage
"The Fantastic Four don't work outside the context of the larger Marvel Universe" You may have learned the wrong lesson. The lesson is: Make a good movie. MCU or not, Fantastic Four is a franchise that COULD be a good movie franchise with the right team, just like X-Men, Spider-Man and Blade, they had great movies outside the MCU and never needed larger context to be the definitive versions of their characters and universes. Spider-Man Homecoming and Ghost Rider's inclusion into AoS is an example of how franchises can become woefully mediocre under Marvel's brand. Just because they have the creative control does not mean they'll make a faithful adaption. They ended up making a movie that's still nowhere near as faithful or fun as Spider-Man 1 or 2, and wrote themselves into a corner by pushing an established newbie into big events like Avengers 3 and 4. Make good movies, please. They made Deadpool and Logan, they need a dedicated creative team like that to do FF and Doom.
+Grady Childs That's like saying Marvel and Sony didn't make Spider-Man Homecoming, *only* Jon Watts did. No, Fox did indeed finance and had a part in in developing Logan and Deadpool. It's their IP, it's their movie.
Alright I'll be more clear, the film's quality was the result of the directors making those films. Not those corporate pigs over at FOX or that hack fraud Simon Kinberg.
Here's a suggestion to Fox: Work out a deal with Marvel just like Spiderman: Homecoming, part of the MCU with Marvel doing the story but you distributing the film. Set the initial portion of the movie against the Invasion of New York. Reed and company were there in space when the portal opened up, call it an unauthorized rocket launch Reed did to help boost the US Space program, a la SpaceX. That was a source of cosmic radiation that messed with them. They go into 'hiding' because of the changes that happen to them. Reed was trying to cure them or at least help them control their powers, and that explains their lack of participation in everything MCU since. Cut to a few years later when they've got some control over their powers and begin to reassert themselves into society, including dealing with Dr. Doom or going back to the original Fantastic Four #1 story with the Mole Man. Fox lets Marvel use Fantastic Four characters under supervision so that it conforms to Kevin Feige's vision for the MCU and Marvel lets Fox have some correlation with the MCU. Everybody wins, especially the fans. A Dr. Doom solo movie would be wonderful and could be a great social commentary on how possible it could be to have complete peace through tyranny (to borrow Megatron's quote). How much are you willing to give up to have complete equality, total healthcare, and security?
THANK GOD Disney bought Fox, I can't imagine how messed up the character of Doom and any further Fantastic Four films would have been if they had pressed on with these pointless rights-retaining projects.
Fox's new ideas sound horrendous. I wish Fox Studios would just give up, Fuck Off and give The Fantastic 4 Film Rights back to Marvel who would know exactly what to do with Marvel's First Family especially on the comic relief side with the constant childish bickering between The Human Torch and The Thing. I really love the idea of Mads Mikkelsen as Doctor Doom but I would rather see him as that Marvel Supervillain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I know "but he already played a character in Marvel's Doctor Strange?!" but to be fair many actors over the years have been recycled for other characters within a same Franchise/Fictional Universe before especially when the Producers see them for the first time in smaller roles within the same Film Franchise or TV Show and start to picture them playing a different character that is in development or they would be best suited for especially if their original role within that same Universe was more subtle so it definitely wouldn't be a stretch plus Mikkelsen makes a far better Doctor Doom than Master Kaecilius from Doctor Strange plus *SPOILER* Kaecilius died in Doctor Strange or looked like he was transforming into one of the Mindless Ones so no issue with Mads Mikkelsen as Doctor Doom bumping into another Marvel Supervillain who just so happens to look just like him plus Doctor Doom wears a mask to cover his scared face so there is Definitely not an issue there in the MCU
Just a small side info: FOX doesn't hold the rights to Fantastic Four. A German movie company does. There is however some cooperation/licensing going on so that FOX is making the movies. FOX however - unless that changed recently - has no say whether the rights for FF go back to Disney/Marvel or not.
Star Scream Do you have any sources for that? I know that there is some exclusive licensing going on between the two but I think they ultimately still hold the movie rights to FF.
I think a Doctor Doom solo flick could work if done right, it would be a better way to tell his rich and intricate backstory. But I don't think it would have much appeal for the general audience (even though I would watch it), and you know FOX would find a way to screw it up (especially if that hack Simon Kinberg is involved). Mads Mikkelsen could make a great Victor Von Doom, but I'm surprised that FOX never considered casting YOU, Andre; with your sexy Norwegian voice! :)
The X-Men can work in a universe of their own. I would almost say they are better off in such a setting. The FF are only really worthwhile as part of a larger world.
For God's sake FOX, do a Sony and give it back to Marvel. I would love to see Marvel Studios do an FF movie, and go retro and set it in the 60s, when the Fantastic Four first came out. They could do a "Timeslip" and have the climax of the movie see them sent hurtling into the future/present for Phase 4 or 5.
I think a Dr. Doom movie could be great, wit a skilled writer and acting. The audience can sympathize with him and still not totally want him to succeed (think Tony Soprano, or Wile E. Coyote for that matter). Have him build up to something big, something he's given justification (from his POV) for, and then have the FF step in at the end and thwart him. And then he *doesn't* rage; he calmly picks up his pieces to do it again, because his ego won't accept that the next time won't work either.
Fox made Galactus a generic space cloud and we've seen what they've done with Doom previously. I'm afraid I won't think they've got it right unless I see a trailer with a guy in armor using magic that is a ruler of a country. I mean I get it, it's a weird concept, but so is a alien space cloud.
Mads could easily play Dr. Doom. Simply never show his face. It would be tricky if they want some backstory for Doom but if they always shroud his face in shadow I think that might make things more intriguing. I had the same idea for fixing the Joker in Suicide Squad. We should have never even seen his face either, it wasn't necessary.
Give him a country to rule with an iron fist, but the people adore him because they do legitimately know no poverty, disease or pain. Give him his armor and possibily a gem-encrusted goblet. Insert Fantastic Four to be schmucks who win through some stupid deus ex machina, and you've got your average F4/Doom setup.
Don't forget, he has to refer to himself in the third person.
Darkslayer289 Fool! Doctor Doom toots as he pleases!
um it better be a proper origin story because that's all they can do with a doom solo movie
Darkslayer289
And an ego that will not allow him to admit his rival's knowledge can surpass his own in any way, therefore making hubris his largest vulnerability.
Hmmm..
You nailed it, Renegade Vile. You should be producing this.

prtzomi He's apparently set to direct an Al Capone biopic called Fonzo coming out in 2018 starring Tom Hardy.
Didn't know hope hilarities ensue again. Nice anime girl picture.
Trankgate: Revengeance
I blame fox for killing off the comics of FF.
Terry Gat That was Marvel
the guy responsible for that in the comics has be removed from the company, and their starting to return, ben and johnny are starting to talk to each other again.
Without Fox, Marvel would have collapsed in the early 90's.
+The Sammy And Satan use to be an Angel, once, that doesn't give him immunity. Fuck Fox!
Terry Gat considering the current state of Marvel comics it's probably for the best
Mads Mikkelsen was fantastic as Le Chiffre in Casino Royale. He has a calm menace about him with a great screen presence. He'd be perfect for Doctor Doom.
To be honest, making a Doctor Doom movie that would be true to the source material is tough as balls. Not only do you have to capture his cold-calculating genius, affinity for magic, robotics, eastern-european gypsy family background, but you also have to make the audience understand his motivation, and how he truly believes the Earth would be better off under his iron will. He's literally one of the most fascinating and deepest comic book characters, and you have to nail every single aspect of him to get it right. What Im saying is, Doctor Doom has layers of layers upon layers, and it would take one hell of a script and one hell of an actor to even do it moderate justice. Madds Mikelson would be one of the most ideal candidates though.
If at first, you don't succeed....try, try, try, try again and again!!

In my view the problem is that modern Hollywood loathes the underlying concepts of the Silver Age comics.

Great work as always.
I would rather see Doctor Doom as a MCU film than as a FOX film. Plus, they should've let the rights go after Trankgate, but nooooo!!!!
Yep. it can, but its too late.
I dont think its really to late. Look at the Captain America movies that came out before the MCU ones. There were (i think) 4. One from the 50s (or so) that had almost nothing to do with Cap, Two in the 70s that were booth terrible and the one from the 90s. All really shitty movies.
xxstyxx Won't even put asses in the seats.
xxstyxx fantastic.four pretty.much started outside the marvel universe anyway because they were the first before namor and spider man were brought in, and then cap was brought back. Basically they started as soon works outside of anything.
Namor existed first but there wasn't an eataished universe and he was basically an old golden age character.
If there is a way to make a Dr.Doom movie that audiences would see, I doubt Fox will make it anyway.
John Conner *Coff*Coff*SONY*Coff*Coff*
I agree
ANYONE WHO DOESN'T WANT THE FANTASTIC FOUR TO REVERT TO MARVEL STUDIOS IS A TROLL!!! I'm talking to you too, John Campea!
"hey you guys know that horrible movie we made that bombed at the box office and made us look like idiots?"
"you mean fant4stic?"
"yeah lets make another one of those except we'll base it around the relatively obscure villain, doctor doom. I'm sure most people in the mainstream will know who doctor doom is and also want to see a follow up to the career ending film Fant4stic"
"what a great idea"
Fox give up FF. PLEASE.
Mads Mikkelsen as Doctor Doom would be amazing!
If this film even happens that is.
Darth Lehnsherr He's speaking for his superiors at Fox, who're a bunch of bratty preschoolers who refuse to share their toys. He's most likely lying to everyone at Comic-Con.
Darth Lehnsherr Doom wouldn’t be a blockbuster type of movie, anyways.
Unless Roger Corman got the ok and $450 to start the project.
I beg to differ. While Doom is a great character, his role is that of a villain. Giving him a solo movie makes as much sense as the solo Venom movie without Spidey. That being said, Mikkelsen would kill it in that role.
A Silver Surfer solo movie might be epic.......until Amy Pascal somehow fucks it up.
I wish Fox would give Galactus back to Marvel. Where do you go after Thanos? Galactus seems like the next logical threat.
Slowly:
Fox hates Marvel that much huh?
Let's be honest, the doom movie will bomb
Doing a doom Solo movie would be such a good idea.
I don't think The masses are gonna line up for Dr.Doom 🤷🏽♂️
I was in the third grade when Secret Wars was out and it was one of the first comic series I ever owned. Cemented me as a Marvel fan. I'm 42 now, but can still reflect back on the fat that Doom was the only one to directly challenge The Beyonder, (almost died trying) and won. Also, when he became all-powerful, rather than kill the good guys, he simply called their conflict finished (which it kind of was). Doom is the best.
Fox really doesn't want marvel to get f4 back. This is a sad attempt to keep a dying franchise.
Can these People just give up No more fantastic four films they always bomb
Fantastic 4 should just revert back to Marvel by now. Disney is a way better studio that can do a way better job than Fox
Doom? :)
This is never going to happen. Fox just needs to bite the bullet and give up already.
Give the rights back to Marvel
Man, the last time I was this early, I still had an inkling of hope for the 2015 reboot!
God dammit, for half a second I thought this meant Mads Mikkelsen was gonna play Doomguy. Imagine it. Hannibal feasting on Imp liver with a dressed Baron of Hell skull at the end of the table.
Could you imagine the Doom, Strange story, when they battle Mephisto?! That would be great.
Never been this early into a Midnight's Edge vid.
Give F4 back to Marvel! For free...fast...
no... having hope after all that happend is a huge mistake.
For fuck sake fox just fucking let go the fantastic four rights, you already damaged the property enough, making a doctor doom movie isn't gonna make that much money since he got fucked too many times, just focus on xmen.
kid friendly fantastic four remember batman and robin.
just work a deal with marvel
and bring them into the MCU
no more terrible ff movies.
It's diminishing the brand
into garbage
"The Fantastic Four don't work outside the context of the larger Marvel Universe"
You may have learned the wrong lesson.
Fox didn't make Deadpool and Logan. Tim Miller and James Mangold made those movies. Fox gets way too much credit for those film's successes.
Here we go. Trankgate Part 5, it's happening people. Fox is at it again.
Noah Hawley working on a Doom movie is all I need to hear, to be interested.
I am not excited for any FF-related movie from Fox.
However, anything is possible, and I can only hope for the best.
Insert Darth Vader Noooooo! Meme.
#BringFantastic4BackHome
Either let the rights go or just work with Marvel like Sony did with Spiderman.
Just a small side info: FOX doesn't hold the rights to Fantastic Four. A German movie company does. There is however some cooperation/licensing going on so that FOX is making the movies.
FOX however - unless that changed recently - has no say whether the rights for FF go back to Disney/Marvel or not.
Constantine Films doesn't have much say in F4. They signed that over to Fox otherwise Disney would've bought them out years ago.
Star Scream Do you have any sources for that? I know that there is some exclusive licensing going on between the two but I think they ultimately still hold the movie rights to FF.
Ask the people on the "Keep hope Alive" thread on SuperHeroHype's forum to give you the evidence. Tell'em Starscream22 sent you.
There's so much body horror inherent with the Fantastic Four that I don't know that a kids' version would work.
Eh, the original Fantastic 4 wasn't about body horror.
Family Friendly Fantastic Four?
You mean The Incredibles?
By the looks of things, it will be a very long time before I consider spending money to go and see a new movie in theaters.
The best Fantastic Four movie was the Incredibles.
Not interested in this or any FoXmen movie. They're not getting any of my money until they at least make a deal with the MCU.
They dont learn do they?
20th Century Fox, should sell the Fantastic Four rights to Marvel.
It's Frank I'm done with fox and there shitty ass fantastic four
I still cant help but be curious about Trank's original version of the film. There's no way it would be worse than what we got.
Fox and it's many adventures making fans wait forever before giving Fantastic 4 back to Marvel.
Mads as doc =gold
Can't wait till they tackle the Emoji Movie fall out.
Burn, Sony, burn!
