- "Stand Up and Tell 'em You're From Detroit!" That was the slogan WXYZ-TV Channel 7 had during a campaign in the mid 80s for people to watch the station.
Definitely nostalgic. I miss home dearly but it isn't the same.

This is when company's spent money on good promos. Now, they are more about cash than wanting to spend money on being creative and promoting themselves.
They should do a remake of this , retro is all the rage

In my town, the news stations have a code. When crime happens, they say that the car has Michigan plates.
It's tragic. How corporations can destroy whole cities and nobody cares.

This is the original song. The Gari Group and Frank Gari made a bunch of these jingles for cities across the country, changing the lyrics (and I'm sure the music, I'm some cases) to be custom for each area.
There is one they had in the early 90s that was based on Stand By Me, where the lyrics became Seven Stands By You (Detroit)
The original song, composed by Frank Gari for WKYC had the lyrics "You've got a friend, turn to 3" in it:

Lololol, wow people from out of town don't know. This is from the 80's when Detroit was crime laden in all ways, when the city really did look like a bomb went off in it. There were wrecks of buildings everywhere. Now there are places people from out of town want to go in the city other than sports games or theater.
So remember this.
