I use my Pintuck feet for couching cord onto the cuff of a pillowcase. I use a slanted overlock stitch, single needle, and match the top thread to the cord, the bobbin thread to the fabric. My 3 groove Pintuck foot allows for heavier cords. I have 3, 5, 7, and 9 groove feet, but I haven’t found as many uses for the 9 groove one. I have also made corded Pintucks with a double needle by placing the cord underneath the fabric. It’s a beautiful treatment that can add a flare to more than just garments. I really enjoyed this tutorial. Thanks for the demonstrations.
Oh wow, I inherited a pintucking foot from my Aunty and I have never been too sure how to use it. Now I know. Thank you. I will try it out now. Loved seeing these feet.
Brilliant!. I am mermerised watching this well explained tutorial. The blue coloured thread and ribbon stand out as a soothing contrast against the white background. The ribbon embellishment with floral design is awesome. Thank you.
Lovely to see how to use the feet, the techniques and the end results. What I think is great is that you always mention Angela and how much she teaches you.
Maureen Cullen i would get her on the videos if i could but she is camera shy. I always feel i must give her credit she has taught me everything i know and is a truly amazing seamstress.
Your videos are always so informative. Before I knew pintuck feet existed I made Butterick 5997, a tunic with pintucks, using a single needle and either my blind hem or quarter inch foot. They came out pretty well but next time I'll definitely save myself time and hassle and buy one of those special feet from you. The demo was really useful, thanks.
So glad you found it useful Clare, there are so many feet like that which make life so much easier, but part of the battle is knowing they exist. Well done for managing pintucks without one though!
The ribbon technique is amazing! I saw it demonstrated on the new Pfaff Creative Icon. They also demonstrated double and triple ribbon designs. I need to use more of the fancy feet with my sewing machine. Thanks for the inspiration...
I really enjoyed watching this video :) Great inspiration to think more about what type of embellishment would be nice to add to your project when you're in the planning stages.
I really like that you show some ideas on how to use these techniques in projects I would really love it if you spent just a bit more time on what types of machine stitches are suited to the feet you are demonstrating
thank you for the great video on these 3 techniques. The spanish hem foot is especially interesting to use on lots of items in addition to clothing also! Moreover, I appreciate your teaching method very much! To understand the technique for me is with clear explanation and the visual aspect. I feel I can comfortably go to my machine now and try them out!
I didn't know about the posibility for a specific pin tuck foot, it looks so easy! I was wondering how you adjust the tension to have the fabric gathering up into a 'tuck' like that?
I absolutely loved this video, I’m excited to try this, I had no idea how pin tucks were made. When using the Spanish foot, how would the edges of the fabric be finished off so as not to ravel? I’m thinking it would be fun to use this in place of pin tucking but the raveled edges would be insane, or does the stitching stop any fraying?
These techniques are gorgeous! I just purchased the Viking Designer Brilliance 80 and I can't wait to do some of the fantastic stitches and embroidery on this machine! Is your Mother- in- law Angela Kane?
No one mentions what setting you need to change the tension to. My pintuck foot does nothing unless my tension is set on 9. Which seems extreme. What else do I need to do? I'm using sheeting on my sample. Bx
Wow!...thanks for this video, it was exactly what I was looking for (but couldn't find). Learning how to add interest/detail is what I'm after...I'm curious, with the Mexican hem, how well does that hold up to washing machines?...its it very fragile?...thanks!
Thank you so much. You explain very well. However, watching the sub titles, you keep saying about a "fast" machine? Is it "fast" or "Paff". Do let me know. Thank you again.
i love those design features, esp the ribbon. i wanted to ask how you pick appropriate decorative stitch to work with spanish hem foot...is it any that zigzag or are they also particular to pfaff. i have a few heirloom stitches on mine but not sure if my needle would crash on the seperating bar. tfs:)
I've just spoken to Angela and she asked which machine you have and then we can give you a better answer. It would be heirloom stitches you would use if your machine is compatible with a Spanish hemstitch foot, but if you tell us which machine you have we can tell you more.
Sew Essential hello, hope you enjoyed holiday:) i have a kenmore elite which is quite old now and not on market. i do have stitches like your sample but i didnt see spanish foot listed in accessary list when i went through my manual or instruction in features sections. thank you so much for taking the time to look into it. ill be playing around a bit more with features on my machine, there's so much more than i thought:)
It was lovely thank you, always nice to have a break, but I'm glad to be able to get stuck into my sewing again now! Ok I'll speak to Angela and see what she thinks, but that isn't a brand of machine we stock. Her advice is pretty much always to have a play around and do test samples, which it sounds like you are doing, but I'll get back to you if there is anything else we can suggest.
I’m from the USA and found your channel a few weeks ago. I’ve been binge watching! You are a marvelous teacher! Thank you!

Great have fun!
I love those technics!😄

I had no idea there are tools for pin tucks and the Spanish hem, how fantastic. Thank you for putting this together.

Really great tutorials. I definitely learn better by watching than by reading, so this really helped me understand those presser feet. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Such useful and well presented videos. Most appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Kathleen thanks for your lovely feedback. Yes it is so lovely to make a unique handmade project even more unique with these techniques.
That pintuck foot 👏👏👏👏! Bx

So glad you enjoyed it Cindy you just can't beat experimenting in sewing can you?!
Thank you for the tutorial..I noticed you didn't do a reverse stitch at the start and end to lock the stitches?
For the pintucks, what tension number do you suggest is good for achieving a pronounced tuck?
Really enjoyed watching and wondered what the blouse pattern is that Angela made the blouse from? just gorgeous
I will find out for you and will get back to you Peg. Thanks for the lovely feedback.

Lovely detailed and informative thanks 😍 also whose pattern did you use for your blouse 😍
So glad you enjoyed it. Sadly the blouse was a ready to wear one I purchased from Zara many years ago. It is one of my favourite things I ever bought.

So glad you enjoyed it! The Spanish hem stitch should hold up ok in the washing machine as long as you use a good quality thread.
Can I ask what pattern that white shirt is with the thin black tie/ribbon on the neckline is? I love pin tucks!
Very informative. When would you use pin tuck cord? and is there a different foot for use with pin tuck cord? Thank you.
Thank you so much. You explain very well. However, watching the sub titles, you keep saying about a "fast" machine? Is it "fast" or "Paff". Do let me know. Thank you again.

Sorry for the delayed response I have been on holiday and need to double check a few details with Angela for you, but will get back to you soon.

Hi what's that smal piece call which goes to needle plates for fancy stitches plz
What is the color of your peg board?
Which machine do u have ?
Do you have feet for Bernina machines
Pintucks do not come so nicely in silk or chiffon
