    When you started doing this I suddenly 💡 realised what you were going to do. I’ve sewn “forever” & never ever thought of this method. What a great idea & lovely clean finish. 👍

    This is BRILLIANT!! I am worried a little about stretching the neckline with that much handling, but I think a staystitch would solve that problem and make it extra neat!

    What a great idea. I have an overlooker but don't like the finish on facings. I am making an Ashton Top which I have bias bound the facing. The Ashton doesn't use inter facing but you could do.

    I love this technique. I first saw it many years ago watching Nancy Zeiman, who had a popular sewing show here in the United States fir many years. Any time I’m forced to do facings,which I hate to have in my garments, I try to use this technique. Thanks for sharing! I enjoy your videos!

    TFS Lucy! This is so neat. I love using french seams on some garments but my question is how can you finish seams like armholes/sleeves neatly?

    • @SewEssential
      @SewEssential  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks Barbara, you can actually sew a French seam on an armole, you just sew it wrong sides together first with 1/4" seam then sew it right sides together with a 3/8" seam to create a 5/8" seam overall. I promise I will do a tutorial on this soon, I have another one ready to go first, but will do the French seam after.

    This is a great idea and will be using it from now on. However how would the facing work if there was a zip to be inserted down the back of say a dress? Would it be put together in just the same only with the back facing in two pieces? Love to know what you think. Thank you :)

      It is a Tefal steam generator iron, but I don't think that model is available any more. I have another more recent one at home that I use there though and I think any of the Tefal steam generators are good.

  • @rhondaa18

    Hi there! Loved learning this technique for finishing facings. Question: do you think the clear seam guide foot you have on your Husqvarna would work on a Brother sewing machine? Thanks!

    • @SewEssential
      @SewEssential  4 роки тому

      Hi Rhonda, so glad you liked the video thanks. I definitely wouldn't recommend using a Husqy foot on your Brother or any other make at all. We do stock a wide range of Brother feet and you might be able to find something similar if you have a look on the site.

    • @rhondaa18
      @rhondaa18 4 роки тому

      I have not seen the markings for seaming or a foot as reasonably sized on any of the Brother feet like the Husqvarna. Brother has a clear foot with seam markings, but it is really wide on both sides of shank. Tape... 🤨

    Looks great, Lucy, so neat! What model number is your machine? I presume you sell it. I don’t live near you, I’m in Cheshire, how would it work for guarantee/ service if I bought a machine from you. I have an old Janome, which is a great machine but I would love to upgrade! Thanks

    • @SewEssential
      @SewEssential  4 роки тому

      Hi Mary, I'm so glad you liked it and exciting news about your potential upgrade. My machine is a Husqvarna Designer Diamond, which sadly has been discontinued, but we have some lovely machines on the site that would include the features I was talking about. You can find all of our Husqvarna machines here (I have 2 Huskys and love them both) www.sewessential.co.uk/sewing-machines-and-accessories/sewing-machines/husqvarna-viking-sewing-machines I would recommend considering from the Jade up if you want the sorts of features I talk about. In terms of warranties and guarantees you would get the same cover as if you bought from a bricks and mortar store and we provide after sales service if you need any support. If you would like any more info at all or to discuss further just drop us an email at sales@sewessential.co.uk
