- Welcome back, gearheads!
Today's episode features a BMW 225 Hybrid that decided to play a cruel joke on me. Imagine this: I'm cruising along, enjoying the hybrid bliss, when BAM! The dash throws a hissy fit with this message: "Do not switch off the engine. You cannot start after the engine is switched off."
Talk about a mood killer!
Naturally, I ignored it (just kidding, I didn't). But then, the inevitable happened: the car became a very expensive paperweight.
After some serious detective work (and a few choice words), I discovered the culprit: the high-voltage battery.
This video documents my epic struggle to replace this temperamental beast.
*Disclaimer:* Unless you're a certified electrician who can juggle live wires while blindfolded, I strongly advise against attempting this at home. High voltage is no joke, folks.

High Voltage Battery Cell Module Fault!
Diagnostics was first class, not a mechanic, but I loved the vid, thanks Mel
Finally you are back mel we need a camper update
@@mattmcbride2317 hoping to get back on it in a couple of weeks, we're so busy that projects have taken a side line, sorry all 😕
@melsmotors work comes first mate we all understand hope all the teams ok 👍
I got the same car and getting a similar 5-6 miles of range on full charge. Its going to BMW for a diagnostics in a few days as bmw claimed 31 miles range, but it should be at least around 15-20 miles in real world.
Nice video anyway 👍
@@AJ_IN thanks for watching and commenting 🙂👍
Interesting that this car would not run with a traction battery fault, despite having an internal combustion engine. The take-away for me was the importance of a competent pre-purchase inspection for anyone considering buying any used vehicle that has a traction battery system fitted to it. I think we're finally starting to wake up to the reality of owning these EV/Hybrid vehicles and understanding the myths and global politics that are force feeding this technology to us. The "DON"T TRY THIS AT HOME" smile on your face spoke a thousand words. Well done all.

You sure the battery didn't need calibrating before you started charging it, just incase the 10% state of charge was saved from the last time it was powered up
Like I said in the video, the car had been in with us a while, tried all sorts resets, it was just coincidence it was on 10%, when I put the charger on it continued up from 10% without an issue. It drove nice though! Thanks for watching and commenting 😌👍
Wasn't being funny, more asking a question. You put your work on the Internet for all to see. You're doing a great job being transparent
@phill3144 it's okay, it's good to ask, I bet other people are probably thinking it, you've asked it and I've answered it! 😊 👍
Range should be 25 - 34 miles according to the manufacturer
And we all believe the manufacturers right!!! 🤣😂 Remember Dieslgate? Big cases in the US against electric car companies lying about range, Tesla was successfully sued in the Federal courts in 2023 about misrepresenting range! BIG businesses all lie about what they sell, every bought a BIG MAC and then compared it to the picture! Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂 👍
£1500 quid my alternator is £90 new my starter is £150 quid. Something has gone seriously wrong in the car trade
It's Mad, some of the repairs out way the value of the car! Thanks for watching and commenting 🙄👍
