I’d go 3-4-2-1
Keeper - Pickford
Centre backs - Walker, Stones and Guehi
Wing backs - TAA and Shaw when fit. I’d have had Leif until Shaw was fit, assist machine.
CMs - Rice and Mainoo
Two 10s - Foden and Jude
CF - Kane
I like that
I prefer the pragmatist eleven with TAA in midfield.
We all know what Gareth will choose...the safe option.
Trent or Mainoo is pretty much nailed on to start next to Rice...
(Henderson and Phillips spring to mind)....which would be ok in the "big" games, I suppose?
Bellingham and Foden must start with Kane
...which leaves right wing.
I'd go for Bowen but...Gareth will go with Saka
Personally, I would have had Foden as my England no.10 since he was 18.
Gazza, innit?
Just needs stopper Ince (Rice) and box to box Platt/ Gerrard (Bellingham) behind him.
Semi Finals minimum expectation, realistically?
Come on England!
Laters Ben,
Happy Summer!
Rice holding, Trent spraying passes, Bellingham behind Kane Bellingham mixing it with Folden on left with Bowen on Right
Bellingham has to play next to Rice. Moving him up to the 10 role and forcing Foden out wide is a disaster for me. Not only are you pushing the best player in the PL this season into a left sided role where he notoriously doesn't thrive in, but you're also creating a conundrum for yourself by having to have a weak link in midfield next to Rice.
People seem to forget that Jude was a box to box CM his whole career before the Madrid move, and he was already world class then. It's only this season he was employed more offensively, but he is still an unreal player in both boxes and can defend as well as any other midfield option we have. He has to play deep, no question.
So you play a player who is la liga best player and champs league winner out of position instead?
@Chalks38 He isn't out of position lol. He's a central midfielder and played there for both Birmingham and Dortmund, and is literally why Madrid signed him because of his unreal of a CM he was.
The only reason he played further forward for Madrid was because Madrid had a striker crisis at the beginning of the season, and Bellingham had to be moved forward to fill the hole. He found success there and kept scoring, so they kept him further forward. That doesn't now make him solely a number 10. If anything it just showcases how insanely versatile Bellingham is that he can be world class in multiple roles and positions.
He's still a midfielder and always has been. 1 season does not change that.
@@GGMatthe played very advanced for Dortmund too.
@dmst13 His opta records exist online and you are free to look at his positional history. He played as a box to box player for Dortmund with a freedom to get forward if he pleased. He was still a CM and played deeper, like he did at Birmingham.
@@GGMattalso my ability of being a Dortmund member and watching near every game for them over the last 15 or so years.
Last year, the midfield was effectively part of a front five. Adeyemi and Malen acted as wide forwards and then Brandt and Bellingham were just behind them, with Can sitting deeper. On paper, it was a flat midfield 4 with a defensive midfielder behind them but in execution it was anything but
England can play well only thing players let of confidence during match day. All lion players had a same level standard.
I agree. Probably shift to Trent or Gallagher in midfield to take on the big boys later in the competition (if indeed they get there).
I'm really surprised by the widespread clamour for TAA in midfield. It feels like an instant return to the Golden Generation, crowbarring players in. Trent's essentially never started in CM, outside of some lacklustre England friendlies. Klopp has never done it. To then put him there at a major tournament seems nuts. He's a Gerrard-type, Hollywood ball merchant. We need such a different profile of player next to Rice IMO - a Mainoo or Wharton, who move the ball forwards 10-15 yards, with pace and precision.
John Stones apparently is sick, hopefully things will be fine for him
Pickford
Walker - Stones - Guehi - Trippier
Trent - Rice
Palmer - Bellingham - Foden
Kane
I know it seems really harsh to drop Saka and to be honest I won't complain if he starts but Palmer has 33 goal involvements in the league this season, seems silly to leave him on the bench.
I'd go for same team Ben bloom picked,we have quality going forward on the pitch and the bench, defence is a concern but we play to our maximum we have a chance to get to the semi finals then who knows,I'm not a Southgate fan but with the players he have to pick from England should be in the mix at the end of the tournament, come on England 🏴🏴🏴🦁🦁🦁🤞🏆💛💚
Rice was dreadful against iceland, but he has to start. I would try and fit in konsa into the back four. That's all I wana chip in with.
4231 both formations
Pickford Walker Stones Guehi Trippier Rice Mainoo Saka Bellingham Foden Kane
Or
Pickford Walker Stones Guehi Trippier Rice Bellingham Saka Foden Gordon Kane
That's exactly the team I would play. Foden has got to play 10,he is wasted on the left, and Gordan is better than him in that postion
Everyones an expert 😂
Bellingham has to play as a 10 for me
Mine if Stupidgate depends on statistiques
Pickford
Tomori
Branthwaite
Trent
Leif Davis
Rice
Barkley
Bellingham
Bowen
Gordon
Kane
Wharton
Bellingham wasted in centre mid Imo.
I sense a disaster this tournament. I hope am wrong.
Foden has been sub par playing for England, lousy 4 goals in 33 matches for an attacking midfielder is just not good enough. Why do people always select Foden in their starting XI, when he constantly flops! I'm still waiting for a MOTM performance from him in an England shirt, but he seems to be the typical England player I had to endure over the past five decades watching England: great for Club, but crap for Country. Foden has no onfield presence, lacks outstanding vision and creativity and seems to be mentaly weak.
Trent alongside Rice and Jude in midfield, Saka, Kane and Gordon upfront. Foden on the bench.
He doesnt have much choice because the defence isnt solid enough to be set up for 1-0s. Go Keegan on it and all out attack. We aint winning it anyway.
No.
I'm sorry but they will struggle to get out of group and lose in quarter final
Pickford; Walker, Konsa, Dunk, Trippier; Rice, Gallagher; Palmer, Bellingham, Gordon; Kane.
