And hijacking inclusivity just like what any company will do every June. It's clear they're desperate to make illusions about welcoming diversity towards their profits.
This isn't some kind of marketing mishap or misunderstanding, it's intentional brand subversion and it's being done deliberately. Whatever moneyed interests are involved have an intentional reason to stir up controversy through a ridiculous campaign that alienates thousands while connecting with no one who's going to buy their vehicles. It may seem like a huge stretch to compare this to Oldsmobile, but they went through a similar downward trajectory after chasing a younger demographic that wasn't the least bit interested in their cars, while simultaneously distancing the older demographic that bought their cars almost entirely out of tradition. This isn't being done to move the brand in a new direction, it's being done to marginalize and sabotage it in order to achieve another goal.
Mitsubishi is turning itself around, their new Outlander is actually pretty good. Aside from Jaguar, I’d say the runner ups as next to leave the US is Buick, Chrysler, Fiat, and Infiniti.
Mitsubishi is going to put the DX Concept (a PHEV off-road minivan) into production and bring it to the United States (according to Mitsubishi Momentum 2030). They’re actually improving.
What have you heard about their rebrand Kirk? No one knows, but it seems like they're going all electric ala Tesla. But, knowing their history with electronics; it seems like a match made in hell
Tata should replicate what Geely did with Volvo; just give them cash and let them do their thing. BTW, the Teletubbies comment was hilarious! Also, your example about fine mechanical vs digital watches is spot on. That is exactly what Lamborghini did with the new Revuelto.
I saw the ad and had no idea what was happening or what it had to do with cars. They didn't show a single car or even a silhouette of one. Jaguar only had to create street performance luxury hybrid versions of Range Rover SUVs, ultra luxury sedan, and a performance oriented coupe, then the brand could have kept momentum. When i test drove the F-Pace, it had the juice, but it didn’t feel very luxurious. Jaguar will not have any relevancy and they might as well kill it, then push that cash to Land Rover.
I remember my dad test driving a used xj8 vanden plus and thinking it was super luxury, plush, and a just gorgeous. Beautiful wood, supple seats, and powerful. What have they become?
Jaguar doesn’t sell because they have poor reliability. Their solution was to turn gay. Now they really won’t sell because their customers were gentlemen in suites who go golfing. This is dumb.

If I m not mistaken, isn’t Jaaaag supposed to be a British competitor to the germans luxury brands? Well good job closing your coffin I guess. By the way Kirk, you might wanna check out the old top gear on jaguar complications, it’s at least what it supposed to be.
I like comparing this “modern” Jaguar ad to my all-time favorite car ad: Nissan’s “Toys” commercial from way back in 1996 for their 300ZX. That’s how it should be done!
A good friend had a Jaguar. They're beautiful classic looking cars. But their cars have the worse reputation for reliability. Her car broke down so many times. Luckily she got it used and for cheap.
Before their acquisition by Ford Jaguar wasn't a mass market luxury brand. It was more of a competitor to Bentley then went down market to compete with BMW & Benz & it hasn't worked out. They are essentially returning to what they were before but with all EVs in their lineup which isn't really a bad thing if you look at the Chinese market & the fact that by 2030 & 2035 UK & EU markets will end the sales of ICE vehicles
I'll never buy one. Still, I'll be sorry to see them go. I remember the days when XKEs were raced with body roll and tons of power on oversteer. Visually thrilling!
@ I mean Infiniti is struggling as a brand and we like to poke fun at them but Jaguar makes Infiniti look miles better. At least I see Infinitis on the road. I never see a jag 😂
I think this is Jaguar waving the white flag on being engineering led, lacking the resources to differentiate on that moving forward given development cost of new tech (e.g. safety, pollution, autonomy), opting instead to be design led. They are headed way up market to have a chance at fat margins if they can execute. This is all about financial sustainability, simply to exist as an auto maker. I'd argue that it's better to end production with dignity. They do car design well . . . become a design shop.
Nice job Jaguar - take your irrelevant brand, make it woke as every company has tried it and lost business, which you desperately can’t afford to lose, and make the most demented commercial you can. I guess they just wanted to destroy the company for good.
Jaguar’s marketing is obviously unique and different; however, I believe it’s doing exactly what it’s intended to do - galvanize publicity and discussion. Honestly, it evokes similarity to the seemingly acid-filled Citroën commercials from the 60s - pretty intriguing imo, and hoping it catalyzes true revival for the brand.
1:27 this is where my head immediately went to. if you own a Jag or even LR product I would be concerned that this just knocked 10% off the resale value. no joke.
Part of me thinks (hopes) that this is some 4D chess move by JLR ahead of their launch event in Miami next week. It's such a polarizing ad that the whole internet is talking about Jaguar meaning more eyes on the launch of their new models. Hopefully it's worth it.
If you never cared about cars and your first experience with jaguar is that ad, you would think it is a perfume brand. It's a cardinal sin of advertising.
Don’t underestimate the power of marketing A lot of people talking about Jag in a time where they only aspire Teslas, Porsches & Ferraris If the company survives this wave of bad publicity, they might have a chance to resurface and get a different market
Lol, that dude's Jaguar had lost 90% of its value long before that ad aired 😂. I believe regular car reviews said it about Maserati, but it applies to Jaguar: this is a brand that normal people think rich people buy because they're special, and that rich people forget exist. And thats not wrong, they certainly have character. A Jaguar F-Type looks and sounds better than anything else you will have seen on the road today, I'd almost guarantee. But people who have the money to spend on a Maserati or Jaguar don't even give them a first look, they go straight to Mercedes or BMW or Lexus. It's been that way for decades. Those other brands have a better level of quality, power, fit and finish, often reliability, UI, and presence. Jaguar has some great heritage, but so do those other brands. And Jaguar's heritage hasn't done them any good. If you look at 2023 sales figures for the Jaguar XF, which is their sedan sized and horsepower rated on par with an entry-level E-class for $13,000 less. The XF sold less than a thousand units in 2023. Mercedes sold over 17,000 e-class, and the e-class can be astronomically more expensive. The massive savings isn't enough of a temptation. Now look at it from the other end: The XF is also fairly similar in size to the Charger 300 (which were on sale in 2023), And many trims of those cars were priced at Or even above the XF. Sales of those vehicles dwarfed The XF, and in fact many were willing to spend twice as much on a Charger instead of buying the Jaguar. Jaguar makes a car for a demo that can't afford it, and when somebody from that demo is able to afford it they're tempted to buy something else. They have no pull from the class above. This is all to say, that what they've been doing isn't working. Is this the answer? I certainly hope not. But now non-car people are actually talking about Jaguar, and that hasn't happened possibly ever. I already know two people who couldn't care less about cars who have put on their calendar that December 2nd reveal date because they were so confused about what they saw.
They vaporized their business prospects by failing to understand their core client base - who they are, what they want, what they value. Marketing failure for the ages.
way back in time, Jaguar was the king of luxury and Lotus was the king of sports. On their own they made the best of each side of the car world. I guess they peaked back then.
"If I'm buying a Rolls Royce, I want a big engine in there" I don't think that's true, and I think you may be thinking of e.g. the Bentley Continental GT. Rolls Royce has always advertised based on how quiet and smooth their vehicles are. They're so smooth, in fact, that engineers found they gave people motion sickness because their inner ear didn't perceive the motion of the vehicle their eyes were seeing. The engineers had to reduce their motion dampening to accommodate for human physiology. A famous Rolls Royce advertisement mentioned that at 60MPH, the only thing you could hear in the cabin of the Rolls Royce was the ticking of its dashboard clock. This is why I think that actually, the electrification of the Rolls Royce Phantom was a genius stroke that perfectly matched the character of their cars. The electric motors are quieter, smoother, and more powerful throughout the band for that car than the ICE engines, and more reliable, reducing the perception of expensive repairs. For a Jaguar, you DO want a snarling engine, lots of power, and a lively character. It's why I've purchased 3 of them. But on the RR example specifically, I think you missed the mark a little there.
I haven’t been on your channel for awhile. On June 8th I took delivery of a 2025 K5 GT with the GT1 package in Wolf Gray with a black interior. My birthday is June 9th so it was the best present I’ve ever had…

I’ve recently become fascinated with Jaguars after I started diving into sports cars. I wished this ad would’ve at least gave me a sense that excitement and fun will be part of Jaguar’s future.
The thing is, people leaving the comments either don't have the money, or never intended to buy a Jaguar anyway. The new marketing will bring in a whole new demographic of buyers and money. There won't be any loss because their previous customer base was already long gone.
What’s your thoughts on the possibility that Jaguar gets sold to another parent company, such as Renault, Geely, Daimler, the parent company behind Aston Martin, or even back to Ford?
@@Blank00 We can dream . . . You have reminded me, Renault sold their interest in Mack to Volvo Truck around 2001, worked out good for Volvo. Now the only thing not Volvo about a Mack is the cab.
The Jaguar I Pace is the vehicle of choice for the Waymo self driving project. I went to Los Angeles recently and I saw a few Waymo Jaguars driving on the streets of Downtown L.A., often with no driver. I think that's Jaguar's only way to get rid of its I Pace inventory.
It appeared to me Jaguar was going to sell bright-single-colored-clothes. I used to like the looks of Jaguar's body design styles, not that I ever owned or even touched or sat in one.
I'm sure Tata is smart and knows that Jaguar is on its deathbed right now and doesn't care what happens the brand. I'm sure that they would rather see the brand die to improve profit margins and use Jag's existing plants to increase capacity for Land Rover which is doing well
I was the ad referred to in the thumbnail on their web page and was thinking, are you trying to alienate your customer base?Of any group who would buy a shaguar I can't think of any sub demographic would wouldn't be turned off.
The new model reveal in Miami on Dec 2… is what this is leading up to. We collectively (all my favorite car channels/influencers/vloggers etc), and us in the comments, are giving them free publicity. 100% genius 🎉☮️🙏🏼!
A lot of folks think Jaguar is trolling. It's for real. Tata hired the worst-possible people to re-imagine Jaguar. Instead of "copy nothing", it is stale "me too".
They will be okay, the ad is way less impactful than most people pretend it is, and a lot of ultrarich just want to buy things that are new, different and expensive. And as an ultra luxury brand they're probably only aiming to sell around 15.000 vehicles per year. The design of the new cars is what's most important, and if it's done by the same team that does Land Rover, they're in good hands.
Jaguar is one of those car companies that are known for making good looking luxury grand touring cars but are notorious for them being unreliable Rover is similar in an entry level luxury segment similar to Oldsmobile and highly optioned Mercury models 30 or 40 yrs ago frig I turn 40 in a few months and remember when the grand marquis had a twin turbo 3.8 V6 as its base engine in the 90s though the most common engine was a 4.9 l or 302 Cubic in V8 same as in the Crown Victoria police cars and Lincoln LS Town Car

“You only live twice: Once when you are born, And once when you look death in the face.” Matsuo Basshō, Japanese poet, 1643-94.
I don’t think anybody is going to miss Jaguar anyway. Might as well put a nail in that coffin with this ad.
Someone gets paid for this. What a joke.
It's weird that people buy an unreliable car brand like Land Rover. Do people like taking their car to the shop for repairs???
I'm sure Tata is smart and knows that Jaguar is on its deathbed right now and doesn't care what happens the brand. I'm sure that they would rather see the brand die to improve profit margins and use Jag's existing plants to increase capacity for Land Rover which is doing well
Mr. Tata passed away recently. Will that impact Jaguar?
The ad looks more like a scene from the Hunger Games.
The advertising generated a lot of response. For a company that doesn't produce cars, at least it has kept its name in the media.
A lot of folks think Jaguar is trolling. It's for real. Tata hired the worst-possible people to re-imagine Jaguar. Instead of "copy nothing", it is stale "me too".
What does Jaguar add to the market? People won't buy classic saloons and for SUVs Land Rover exists.
“Jag Wire” always cracks me up 😂
They will be okay, the ad is way less impactful than most people pretend it is, and a lot of ultrarich just want to buy things that are new, different and expensive. And as an ultra luxury brand they're probably only aiming to sell around 15.000 vehicles per year. The design of the new cars is what's most important, and if it's done by the same team that does Land Rover, they're in good hands.
It looks like the dyson logo, maybe their going turbo?
This looks like a dump expensive clothing brand commercial
GBR! We’re bowling, Kirk!
We're out of the slump! I can see the sky!
Jaguar: "Hold my Bud Light!" 🤣😂🤣
Jaguar is one of those car companies that are known for making good looking luxury grand touring cars but are notorious for them being unreliable Rover is similar in an entry level luxury segment similar to Oldsmobile and highly optioned Mercury models 30 or 40 yrs ago frig I turn 40 in a few months and remember when the grand marquis had a twin turbo 3.8 V6 as its base engine in the 90s though the most common engine was a 4.9 l or 302 Cubic in V8 same as in the Crown Victoria police cars and Lincoln LS Town Car
