that's exactly what I have been arguing. Most companies in the US that have tried to go woke have already gone broke. DEI divisions are getting shit canned now all over the place. You could argue the biggest get woke go broke was displayed in the election. Maybe because Jaguar is owned by Tata over in India they don't get it. Their board is heavily DEI and PRIDE and have pushed Jaguar into this ridiculous bullshit when woke is over. We are done with the cosplay bullshit, we are done with the weak men in women's sports, and we are done with DEI hiring. At this point, as some who has owned 5 Jaguars, and currently has 2 (XJL and XKR-S), all these clowns have done is piss off loyal customers like me.

I recall when I was at an Astron Martin dealer in 2009 looking at the DBS. For some reason the saleman showed me Jaguar's version of the DBS. I was a little insulted and said Jugars are for people who cannot afford an Aston. I came back a month later and bought the DBS from another salesman.
I'm no ad executive, but it's pretty easy to come up with a theme. Jaguar wants to go EV and "reinvent" themselves-so you combine the nostalgic appreciation of Jaguar history, racing pedigree, and elegant luxury with the futuristic aspect of EV and advanced technology.

Surprised they did notice during the commercial that they capitalized the G in the name.
They don’t know their customer.
They were going to go out of business anyway. The most recent news they had was that they were going to take a year off from building cars because they had more than a year’s worth of old inventory to sell.
If somebody said Jaguar to you it was all bad news or bad press / speculation.
They needed help. My guess is it’s one of two things: A much needed publicity stunt before announcing a new direction, or it could be a requirement, favor, or test of loyalty to somebody who promised to help in a much needed way.
The less likely third option is this has much to do with consultants who have tanked many a company accidentally on purpose in order to make for less competition for another more favored company. Some say this happens, but it’s difficult to prove. Hanlon’s Razor says never attribute malice to what can likely be attributed to stupidity. I’ve had out of touch marketing ideas before.

It'll be worse than Bud Light because Bud Light is a cheap beer. Jaguar is a luxury car brand, that isn't a very good one at that post 2005. They have one good recent model in the F type which starts at 70k plus. For that same money you're competing against Audi, Lexus, BMW and Mercedes and lower end Porsches which all have bigger names. Choosing not to spend 70k is even easier than choosing not to spend 10 bucks.

MINI recently did something similar with the launch of their 2025 product. They had people dressed in weird clothes and put them in front of the car. I've been with MINI for 13 years and I knew we were screwed. Now the new JCW add is someone driving the car in a fun manner...the way it's supposed to be.

Most likely jaguar’s marketing division suffered from the Abilene paradox. Basically when everyone works to please each other but ends up pleasing no one. Reminds me of Buick trying to appear youthful.
