I said from the getgo that I would pay more for a pre-painted set because I'm not a hobbyist/war gamer like that. I reluctantly backed the Avalon Hill campaign to get where are now, which is where Avalon should've started in the first place. This time, I gladly forked over $300+ to get Premium HeroScape. I put my money where my mouth is both times. Glad to have HeroScape back and to continue building the collection!

Lord-IVD here. nice vid , cut to the Chace on one of the ugly truths of miniature or table top gaming it's 2024 and this stuff is not cheap ...but honestly it never was . Sure back in the early 2000's the Heroscape master set Rise of the Valkyrie was only $40 and came with alot , but at that time $40 was alot too. and the booster packs were $12 for about 8 figures per 1/4 of a wave that my collection required me to buy 3 of each so i would spend $145.00 every expansion sometimes more depending on what units I liked ( Needed 8 sets of Deathreavers spent $100 or rats!!) I was not rich , hell i'm mostly blind and money is tight now too . But let me say this: I just pre ordered $ 680.00 for 1 full set of painted everything , only 1 Tree set at $50 ( I have 7 sets of the old tress) 1 painted Battle Box and one Painted MasterSet then 2 unpainted Battle boxes and 2 unpainted MasterSets I AM HAPPY to support having this game back in production. I do not feel I am over paying for what we are getting . While this game has been out of print alot of us have spent just as much or more buying figures to make custom figures with. I have around 300 or more Heroclix and when Age of A failed in the Haslab I bought $100 worth of Xenomorph miniatures off Etsy as well as other whole gams just for the minis like AVP, Ratchet Wars, and the Big Trouble in Little China box game. If you like these kinds of games you pay the price and figure out where and how to store all the stuff and you are happy to do so. I have spent thousands of dollars on Heroscape and have more than gotten my moneys woth out of my plastic. Sorry for the rant its whay I do lol. Great video!

Yeah, this is my worry from the get-go: cost. When they were mass produced back in the day, they were cheaper due to economy of scale. Walmart kept the prices down and Hasbro barely made a dime off of it. This was what attracted me to it in the first place and this is exactly why it is so collectible. Simply trying to field three common squads today will be a huge challenge cost wise. I love Heroscape to death, but I will stick with what I have.......

Is that a comment on the first wave of Heroscape that was just released?

lmao. Renegade's prepainted Master Set is $225. The unpainted is $125 with just 20 figures. The cope is real. Avalon Hill's offer was incredible, but almost no one was in touch with the market, so they cried "too expensive", but I see those same people cheering as they fork over $225 for this Master Set with 30% of what we would have gotten for the same cost.

Many of the people deep into Heroscape bought into the kickstarter, the issue is pulling in new blood and $300+ is a steep buy in for a game that is more in the board game than wargame space.
The only other company that charges similar prices is Games Workshop with their Warhammer boxes, but they are the top dog in the very niche market of miniature wargaming.
Ya'll acting like the market hasn't drastically changed since 2004. How bout you compare this to the last Heroscape box instead of the first?
Not to mention overall changes in shipping costs, material costs, labor costs, inflation, etc.
