You can add a lot of texture by doing some very light dry brushing on the wings with a brighter or darker shade. Usually I start with darker colors and work my way up with drybrush layers to give all the little crevices more depth. Makes wings and armor pop.
That looks fantastic! I love how you orientate the painting at the ClassicScape dragons (e.g., how much wash needs to be used). Can you disclose what brushes and brush brands you have used (: Thank you
@@RogueScaper thank you for the detailed response. Awesome! Why did you use synthetic over natural hair? Also, did you varnish the model afterwards or just leave it like that for playing?
@@kimobruns synthetic brushes are a bit more durable and easier to clean, and work better as a reliable workhorse brush. Since xeni is so big, didn't want to damage the more fragile natural hair. I made a brief mention of it, but edited it out for timesake, but I definitely recommend putting a couple coats of satin varnish over the figure ( I used Vallejo acrylic satin via spray can) to protect it from the heavy handling of heroscape
How about giving us some techniques for touching up, improving the pre-paints? Also, I’d love to see some alternate color schemes. Thanks again for all of your work.
Awesome tutorial! Can't wait to see the next one! 🙂
This is the most professional heroScape video I’ve ever seen! I’m stoked to paint this model. ❤
@@JOECRAZY3193 thanks, that means a lot!
Finally got my own Xen to paint so watched this all the way through. Love the ending 😂❤
Excellent!!
Awesome job!
That looks great! Cant wait to see the other figures come alive. I will definitely follow this for my painting.
Very nice! Your videos keep improving, and I'm excited to see the rest of these official AoA schemes done well))
You are welcome! It's not a really competitive map by any means, but a fun little visual pop.
The vipers would say otherwise, lol
@RogueScaper haha! Yes. They beat the Shaolin Monks on this one and then promptly died the next map.

Cool to see size comparison here she's huge
I love your tutorials!!
Amazing work! Can't wait to get my set and have a go at it. Although this just confirms my want for more paints 😭
The paint addiction is real :)

@@WaynePeacock great idea for the prepainted, I'll see what I can work on with that. And I've got some fun color alts I'm planning out, for sure
Cam you paint some Orc or Marrow commons?
They've been on my list for a bit! I'll try to make something for them as soon as possible, those are my most requested!
