- I saw it in a video and didn't think it was real but it was! also i put them back in the fridge and nobody notice it! :P
update: i did some research and i found out the apple produces its own wax to protect itself from loosing water insects and other enviromental hazards. BUT sometimes a fine coat of food grade wax is applied to the apples to "protect" them in case the natural wax is not enought and also it gives the fruit its shinny look making it look tastier.

I actually used to working at Apple processing plant truth is they do put a wax coating on apples it is to make them appear shiny and lucious in the stores for you to buy and choose over other brands... the place I work for it was called Lake Ontario fruit in Albion New York. Look it up

A food grade petroleum wax that is in lots of candy bars and used as an air resistant coating to extend the shelf life of fruit since it is usually trucked thousands of miles. Supposedly safe to eat but better to use an appropriate fruit and veggie cleaner or hot water to melt the wax off. No real conspiracy. They have been doing this for well over 60 years in America. Just plain old ignorance of where your food comes from. Also can buy blocks of paraffin wax in the canning section of stores.

I’ve spent plenty of time on apple farms and can guarantee you that apples produce their own wax coating. Sometimes it takes on a blue sheen from chemicals used to fertilise them but there is usually a 3 day holding period before they can be harvested as it takes that long to break down.

Mirah Ememi probably to extend the freshness of the apple. I'm guessing the wax is to make sure the juice inside the apple will not evaporate so the apple will stay juicy and crunchy longer.
From what I learn in school. That thing was candle wax something. Fruit coated with it can last long. It is also make the fruit looks fresh and shiny

Not entirely sure if it's true or not but I heard that supermarkets cover loose apples in wax to keep them shiny. Therefore you need to wash them to get the wax off before eating
