I love this video. I'watched it three times. As a lapsed, instrument rated private pilot and complete DCS newb at formation flying, this is great stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Really nice to see. I can see how this must be challenging, especially that landing, having to watch both the ground and the guy beside you. New subscriber here.
Glad you enjoyed this too. Formation flight takes concentration but with enough practice it starts to seem natural. Approaching the runway always takes extra effort tho.
Thanks man. If you lose sight, you carry out lost wingman procedures. 1. Turn away for 15sec at 15 degress bank while simultaneously informing lead. Resume heading and then you request a separate clearnace. That's the gist of it at least. There are different procedures for if your in a bank turn (inside or outside) or a climb or dive. Glad you enjoyed!
@@invertedflightproductions do you suggest that I invest in a simulator in order to prepare for PFT and phase 2 . Or learning all the checklist by heart is enough ? Also, is there many spots for fast jets these days? Im rotp pilot.thanks!
@@anonymeanonyme4047 Definitely get into flying simulators. Virtual reality (in DCS, Flight Sim or X-plane) is so good that it's almost a 1 to 1 training value for the basic formation (hands and feet) skills. I used sims extensively before starting training and I did not have any issues with formation. Use virtually any aircraft, pick some references to stick with (ie wingtip to the prop spinner) and start wide and work your way in. It will help tremendously. Other phases vary with application from sim to reality though. Getting used to flying an airspeed on a 3 degree approach is good, turns and flying by instruments is a step in the right direction. Try to maintain parrameters like altitude, heading and speed, then work into manoeuvring. Try to get a hold of the manuals ahead of time.
@@invertedflightproductions Thanks for the tips! I Managed to get documents and checklists for pft and phase 1 with an acquaintance. Now, I'm looking to buy a VR machine so I can put the grob 120 a and the mighty T6 texan II on it. Would you suggest any flight controler/ hotas to buy ?

No blood sheet = Perfect, well done ! Sierra-Hotel !
Thanks! A few things here and there but it certainly was a learning experience!
That was awesome and scary at the same time haha. I can't imagine flying formation through clouds. What's the move if you lose sight of the lead?

Thanks! Should have more aviation videos soon!
When the Ip Takes controls is it considered as and affects your mark? Are all the flights given a mark? Nice vid!
Thanks! All flights are graded. However the early flights in a certain phase don't require a high grade to pass. Each maneouvre is graded separately.
