    Hey everyone! There's been a lot of debate lately around how to calculate Bounties. Here's the NON-DEBATEABLE answer from our Bounty Coach (and theoretical physicist) w3c.ray! Also, we're giving $250 off our Bounty Beast course so you can take advantage of this and other mistakes people are making. Use code "BOUNTY" at www.raiseyouredge.com/bounty-course

    Summary: It is wrong to associate the bounty value in chips because there are many situations where that bounty value would be very different depending on the situation.
    Example: Late in the tournament you are on a table where 1 person is short with 2000 chips and bounty of $50, you have 30k chips, and all others have 20k chips and a bounty of $500. If you call and win you will $50 and small stack value and if you lose, you would lose small stack value.
    But if you change one thing, for example, you have 21k chips and you lose, your stack value will decrease dramatically because you will not cover all other players on the table so if you get AA vs KK or if you have a flip with someone, you will not be able to get $500 bounty.
    That is why you cannot say that his $50 bounty is approximated with some number of chips, because the value of chips depends a lot on other chip distribution. Even if you disregard ICM it is wrong to approximate bounty with chips if you don't adjust that value to a situation.

    Hello great video!
    Can you show examples for different situations?
    For example: 1.5x starting stack and 1.5x bounties.
    We got the same equity for the starting situation.
    We went the other way and converted everything into money and counted spots against money.
    It is interesting to compare the results for non-standard situations and situations in the deep stages.
    Sorry for google translate)

    As far as I remember/know the chips we win are worth less than the chips we lose cos of ICM and because we can freeroll jumps I guess eve shallow stacks. Does this not apply so much in bounties, and we should we focus less on ICM(except bubble spots) and focus more on bounty prizepool, and trying to scoop that?

    14:54 when we loose. Should be when we lose. Loose is used for things that are loose, such as a LAG. Lose is a loss. No biggie, just thought I would mention. I see you got it right when you mention stackvalue decrease when we lose to folding. Cheers.

    This is great content once again. I only play regular tourmaments because I like to focus on one subject only. I feel I still have a lot to learn about regular poker. After watching this video I am even more certain of my decision not to play PKOs just yet. The more I learn the more I realize what I don't know.

    Watched the video again. In this scenario if we know the jamming range of the button for sure. Do we want to call with 42% equity? Or do we also need to take future game into account? It feels bad to bust with A9s here. Of course there are also future game benefits of doubleing up. What's the take on this?

    in a mystery bounty $100 buy in example where $50 goes to bounty pool and $50 goes to prize pool, on day 2 lets imagine a bounty is worth around $800, is this worth 8 starting stacks bc it cost us $100 to buy in or 16 starting stacks since only $50 of our buy in goes towards final table payouts?

    As stupid as these questions may be; let´s say starting stack is 4k, Btn shoves with full starting stack and min-bounty: we subtract 25% of his stack for his actual value of chips? So his stack is actually worth 3k? And is my stack then worth the same 3k or is mine worth 4k cause i don´t win my bounty immidiately? And what happens to the % as players collect more bounties? Or did i totally misunderstand this concept?

  • @andrejbogdanov2816
    @andrejbogdanov2816 3 роки тому

    16:20 The calculations for the 25% starting stack in the beginning are only applicable if both players have one starting stack? So if we have 3 starting stacks and another guy jams 1 starting stack, the bounty is worth a bit more than 25% of starting chips? (sry if this gets answered later in the video)

    • @w3cray60
      @w3cray60 3 роки тому +1

      Not sure if i get the question correctly, but a starting bounty is at the start of the tournament 25% of the starting stack. If you have to call 3 starting stacks to win 1 bounty the risk/reward ratio is worse compared to if you would call 1 starting stack to win 1 bounty. Therefore the equity needed in the first case is way higher compared to the second case.

    So I gotta say having a bigger bounty on your head has got to be worth something considering our bigger bounty will get losser calls vrs our shoves by players that cover us and that has got to have some value. Its got the be worth at least a little more than 25 percent.

    What do the 25% even mean? That could have been explained better.
    At 2:40 it says "the value of a bounty in chips".
    Surely a 100$ bounty is not just worth 25 chips.

    • @RaiseYourEdge
      @RaiseYourEdge  3 роки тому +2

      It is being mentioned and he makes an entire calculation.
      25% of the STARTINGSTACK.
      If you have 10.000 STARTINGSTACK, it means your bounty is worth 2.500 chips.
      I dont know how many times we mentioned STARTINGSTACK.
      I hope its clear now :D

      Its different at any given stage, when its around 20-30% left of the field its 33%.
