Yes, I also find this piece a real charming one. I just played it along with you at regular speed after a few days of practice. English is my 2nd language so I always look for people who speaks good and clean English, I understand every single Word you say, so thanks again from Monterrey, Mexico
Excellent! I played a concert in a large concert hall in Monterrey some years ago, with a small baroque ensemble. I mostly remember wandering through downtown on foot without a map trying to find a restaurant open at midnight on a Tuesday. The plane arrived late so we hadn't eaten all day. Eventually found some tacos and beer. Cheers!
Thank you very much for helping me and my brother to progress with the violin! You have been a great help for many people! 😊 please continue! ❤️ hope to see you back soon!
Thank you for playing this delightful piece. I love Dvorak, and love the expression with vibrato when you play it. You keep it simple too for all of us learning!
Oh yes, that will be nice. Those are the sorts of details that can bring a bit more depth to the performance. As long as you're on top of the basics, of course. Have fun - it's such a charming piece.
Excellent! Thank you so much, for your efforts to post this video, .this is very useful for me. I play violin and also teach violin for the church children, and I'm trying to adopt your style of teaching! You are Grt!.. - Stephen
I've been trying to do some videos of book 4 for a while now but have somehow been very busy. I think it has something to do with having a dog who needs to go for a walk all the time! I will try to get to it soon, although I can't promise exactly when that will be. It's a great piece - lots of fun to play!
I don't generally get into the positions with students until a bit later, so it's not on my short list of videos I want to make. I am planning to do some videos on shifting and position-work in the coming months - hopefully those may be of some help to you once they're up. Cheers!
yes i see your point but presumably the open e string sounds striking especially in the govotte by lully but you are a very experienced and (seems to be) a good teacher, I know you work hard, keep it up!
Ave Maria Prelude in C Major. The past requests/comments are written by my 9 year old, who has been fascinated by your video. She has been searching on my computer for every piece you shown :-)
On my computer this is quite loud. Make sure your volume is turned up 1) on the video 2) on your speakers and 3) in your computer sound settings. Sometimes one of those spots is turned down. Hope that helps.
Just buy Suzuki violin school book 3 - it's not expensive and has lots of good music in it. Online sheetmusic stores carry it, also local music stores. This particular piece was hugely famous in the 40s, and consequently there are many arrangements for different skill levels and different instruments.
Thanks so much for helping me through the music, always when I get stuck on a song I always like to stop by to see your videos, can you do Etudes?? Your not just a person who like to show their talent to everyone on UA-cam, you love YO teach about the song, WHICH, is GREAT, because I get to learn SO SO MUCH, THANKS!!
Would you make another video of Humoresque using the 3rd position? I was hoping that on your faster version you would use the shifting, as that's how I am learning now. But regardless, I enjoy 'playing together' with you and listening to your advice. Bravo!!
Hi Allyson . I saw many of your videos and saw this pieces playing by many others. but i see you have some special sharpness and clean notes when you are playing . your bow arm is very skilled . I wish some day H can play like you. in the end your violin does not sound good and i imagine how will be perfect when you play in a stradivarious.
Hi Allyson! I happened to notice while "reading" the revised edition that the meter is 2/4 and your half note was four beats. Is that a playing preference or something the revised edition has changed? Also, I love your videos. When I want to learn a piece on my own, I find myself seeking help from your videos. Also, it is the only reason for me to be able to use the computer without playing games! :)
Not all students are ready to use the 4th finger a lot. And sometimes passages sound cleaner with an open e. But it is likely that if I was recording this for London Decca (if it still existed....) I would probably use a 4th or go into position to soften up the sound.
Hello I would like to know i could help to ensure a violin of very good sound and quality that is not so expensive but that is a good thing better than those who regularly finds one in the shops i need it for my 15-year-old daughter she is an autistic girl and is very interested in learning this marivolloso instrument she is in level 4 of violin and now has a full size but i know that is not of good quality this activity she helped a lot to overcome its limitations thank you for your collaboration
Why didn't you use the more complicated fingerings with shifting? I imagine that most students that watch this video were instructed to use the shiftings. I was certainly confused.
I would love to but I don't know it, sorry! I don't think it was very well known back when I was a student. It would be good to get to know it, though!

Super - thanks!

Hedwig's theme is fiercely difficult for the violins in the original orchestral version! ua-cam.com/video/GTXBLyp7_Dw/v-deo.html

Excellent Allyson! Thanks as I'm learning this song currently.
Can you do concerto 5 in d major from Suzuki book 4? It will really be helpful to me :)

Would you please make a video of Prelude in C Major.
Prelude is a pretty generic name - there are lots of preludes. Which one are you thinking of? Which composer?

I would like you to make a video of Ave Maria.

I shift to 3rd position after the repeat for F#... Also i play a harmonic D for the last note. Will that work Alyson?
WOW
Before I thought humoresque was difficult, and then I thought humoresque is easy.
Not in the short term - no free time! Perhaps things will let up a bit over the summer!
Doing
No this for level 4 exzam
Tammy G -I hope it goes well!
