Minuet by Boccherini, Play-along Video (Suzuki Vln Bk 2)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Regular speed play-through with all repeats (no repeats when you return to the first part on the D.C. - da capo) - followed by a slow play-through with no repeats for when you're still learning the parts. I think I sped up a bit on the regular speed play-through - watch out! If you have questions about how to play certain spots, look for my practice video of this piece (playlist: Suzuki book 2 on my channel).

Your videos are sooooooo helpful. I've played the cello for 12 years, and I am now teaçhing myself the violin. I always come to your videos when I get stuck.
This was very helpful I was stuck at that piece for 1 month now I finished this piece! Thanks Allyson it was very helpful.
Allyson, thank you soooo much for these wonderful videos! I am a 60 year old adult and have been playing for a little over a year. I have just finished book 2. You and others on UA-cam are my only teachers, so I would love it if you would do more videos from Suzuki Book 3. You are such an inspiration to me and the videos have helped me more than you will ever know!
Very helpful! I'm actually an accompanist for Suzuki group lessons so this helps me practice! Thank you!
I was having a little trouble with this song, and my concert was right around the corner, when I found this super helpful video. Thanks a bunch!

Your playing has helped me learn two instruments.

God fill you with blessings, a big hug! :) Not write much English so I translated with google q translator.
Thank you! I also use Google translate. But I get so many comments in Spanish that I'm learning a bit! I'm glad to hear you're making progress and I hope you continue to enjoy playing violin.¡Gracias!
I just practiced this piece with my new Arcus bow, and I must say that my dynamic gets more improved! I love the bow and recommend it to everyone (to you too :D ) although one needs time to get used to this bow due to its lightness and feel. I played along with you in ur video, thank youuuuuu
Allyson, thank you for what you posted. you rock.

Óla, sou do Brasil, muito obrigado, amei os seus vídeos, parabéns
This clip is very helpful . Thank you soo much!
@jjiwonkim - Thank you! I don't have much up yet for book 3, that will be my next thing to work on after the summer holidays. And I do play book 7, I think I learned up to book 8 and then switched to studying individual pieces with a non-Suzuki teacher. Long time ago!
There is considerable difference of opinion amongst teachers as to when to start vibrato. Enough other things need to be working well that one has the mental leisure to take it on! And a relaxed left hand. Usually that takes a couple or a few years. If you try it and it goes nowhere, just leave it and return to it later. I have a couple of videos, vibrato parts I & II - search vibrato Allysons Violin Studio and you'll find them.
Thank you so much for this video! I'll be doing this one in the next lesson. The slower version is very helpful, thank you! xx
I played this piece for an audition to ECYS. Thank you! This helped so much!
@Jordanboadi123 - hmmm - crisp clear sound on the video comes from a good mic - and mine is the Zoom Q3 or something of the sort - it's not nearby or I'd check. On the violin, start by insisting that your bow hand master the art of really solid stop-bows (staccato), which is pretty much the basis of your bowing technique (well - according to me...) Good luck!
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Maestro!!
my kids love it
@AnimalFreaak - it takes time, very frustrating I know! But you can have fun and make good music at every level of ability on your way there, so pay attention to details and feel your phrases - that's the secret to playing beautifully whatever your level.
love this i one first place in school because of you you are the best
@vanezcha - aw, that's a lovely thought!
Good luck!
This song is so hard. This video helped with my tempo though. Thank you!
I enjoy all your lessons of book 2 and battle the first 4 pieces; however with your help I will succeed soon and move on to the next piece No.5.
You are wonderful.
I'm practicing this piece . Thank you :D
Brava!!
so cool!
Gracias Allison
love your videos and the way you play! i'm finishing book 2 and it's been really helpful to watch you play. Your Trill is awesome! congrats
i like the song and you helped me alot.
This helped a lot!! Thanks Alyson!!🤗
Thanks, really helped for my recital.
Oh I don't think it's that simple! The books are not intended to have similar rates of progress, and I don't know if book 1 for cello takes as long as the book 1 for violin, which often takes two years to get through. And the same piece may present different sorts of challenges on a different instrument, anyway. :-)
what????? book 1 took me like 3 months, woahhhhhhh
@lilialcine - ¡Gracias! Me alegro de que los videos son útiles!
You. Are. Amazing.
Thank You very much for making this video it helped me Remember how to play this for a concert. Beautiful playing too!
I've been following you... learning along :)
you see, I've just started my formal violin training, and at Suzuki Grade 2, this piece. thanks for taking time out... must be a lot of effort. bless you
You're a lovely lady for doing this. Thanks.
amazing
Gràcias por tus videos, son de una gran ayuda para mi (Thanks for your videos are a great help for me)
Thank you!
Instead of doing the full trill, perhaps you might do a shorter "turn" where your finger does the upper note only once instead of the usual 2 or 3 times. You can go back to the full trill when you feel ready. Often the problem is too much tension in the hand, and then the trill turns into a sort of muscle spasm which doesn't sound good! Your teacher might have a good exercise for practicing the full trill in a slow, relaxed way, if you ask.
that is just beautiful!!! :D
@parmisazm - I'm so glad you're getting inspired! It's always more fun when you have someone to play with. Do you mean Book 4?
I'm 12 too and I'm learning this for my class. :)
@AnimalFreaak - a video on finger placement is a good idea, I've added it to my list. I think it's fine to play your electric, but producing a good sound on an accoustic is usually more difficult, which means that you will more likely go further in your skill-development if you make sure that you play accoustic occasionally and can get a great sound on it as well as your electric.
@vanezcha - No - they went in completely different directions! They're good singer-songwriters, but work in other fields.
Thank you for sharing! It helps my son a lot^^

Your videos help me soo much!..Thank you!!! I take private lessons and i am on Minuet in G actually, and im watching this video because i want to be ready for it! This song is like the longest (with the repeats) in the volume 2 book of Suzuki, again, Thank you so much, i hope you have more videos!!! And i have one question: Do you play Suzuki book 7?
simple but great! :) like.
Muy bueno en ejercicio
amazing vídeo!
😍 I play violín too And in my recital I play this song too!
Woah. I'm in 6th grade learning minuet but not this kind...I don't know how to explain it. But yeah, I hope one day I'll be as good as you.
Brasil em peso excelente interpretação.👏👏👏👏👏
You're the best!
GREY POUPON mustard forgive my spelling mastering this piece is one of my goals!
Don't lift and replace - you end up with a nasty sound and it's bad technique. The object is to roll the finger over. Make sure your left wrist is slightly outwards, then simply pivot your elbow, leaving the finger down, and catch the new note with the side of the finger. I'm pretty sure I discuss this basic technique in the practice video for Song of the Wind in Suzuki book 1.
I still remember this one when I learned it.
Thank you 👏👏👏👏👏
Alright - I just managed to delete a comment I was attempting to reply to - rats!! Re bowing in (I believe) this piece, bar 6 - there are several editions of the Suzuki violin school books, and each one has some changes to the bowings. If you are playing from a different edition than me (likely the newest one) - I may do the odd thing that is different. Just do what your teacher says or what is in your book - ultimately not critical, but potentially confusing, I know.
Good!
@AllysonsViolinStudio Yeah, I was wondering, can you make a video on finger placement, if you already haven't? I have a difficult time figuring out if my finger is positioned correctly or not. I have finger tapes on my acoustic violin, but not my electric one, and I usually play my electric one. Do you think I should practice more on my acoustic one first?
@AllysonsViolinStudio Yes, I meant book 4.. Thanks again :)
good
i don't know who would not think this is helpful of fun to watch those silly 31 people
@AllysonsViolinStudio Thank you :)
Quisiera que suban mas ejercicios Gus Arg
I'm having a lot of trouble with the trill. I have to play it for my recital, and the first time my teacher played with me on the piano was really hard. I messed up on the trill which messed up the whole song, what should I do?
M A R A V I L L O S O :'D
I am having problem playing parts where by when the fingering is adjacent to each other. For this case, at bar 4, when E is followed by B, both the fingerings are supposed to be on the index finger but on different strings. I would like to know how you go about doing this transition. Do i simply press in the middle of d string and a string or have to lift up my fingers and press specificly on the place itself?
I really wish I could play as well as you :\
good job being first
