So happy to see you both collaborating! I've been following both of you since more or less the same time. Argh! I don't have the "remove option" on my McBook! I'm trying to find a solution on-line, but I haven't found any so far...
Final Cut Fam Unite! Dylan's a master of the Magnetic Timeline and these tips are so great for your viewers to achieve mastery of it as well. The Magnetic Timeline is often "turned off" by editors (or not fully utilized) and these tips are GREAT for anyone struggling to use it correctly... Great video, Teppo! (and Dylan!)
When I tell you the amount of times I kept dropping my phone and slapping my face in annoyance and embarrassment because I didn’t know most of these tips 😂
Because that’s how it’s typically used, especially on UA-cam. You make a mistake, you cut out the mistake, and on the 2nd clip you scale in a little. This makes the cut look better in my opinion.
@@dylanjohndickerson ahh I think i gotcha now... so rather than an ugly jump cut with the wierd cut, instead zoom in to make it less jarring by doing the zoom, instead of the unnatural cut?
@@AJCoReTV That's correct. It's almost like a pretend B camera. For example in a documentary, you'd have a wide shot of the person being interviewed and when the editors need to cut out space or a mistake (or for other reasons) they'll cut to the longer focal length. The difference though is that the B camera is usually at a different angle. And on UA-cam, most people don't set up a B camera because it's a bit unnecessary.
Editing softwares are but a tool, amigo. People can make amazing videos in FCP and also crappy ones. Same with Davinci Resolve and Premiere. How you use the tool makes all the difference.
@@TeppoHaapoja True! So I don´t, he he. I switched to Resolve years ago. I love your videos, by the way. Although in this case it is about a program that I don't use, I still loved it.
Thanks so much for this. Very helpful 🙏🏽
Glad to help!

#4 thank you!
Why did the “zoom in” feature get described as a jump cut for fixing mistakes? That part really lost me.
Because that’s how it’s typically used, especially on UA-cam. You make a mistake, you cut out the mistake, and on the 2nd clip you scale in a little. This makes the cut look better in my opinion.

First thing you shouldn´t do: editing in FCP in 2024 😅 (joking...or maybe not 🤣)
Its definitelty way better than paying monthly for premiere 😂

That’s sad
New people to learn the same things, and we often forget the old ones.
