OH MY GOD... I have been using FCP forever but never bothered to learn it the right way... no patience. This one video would have saved me soooooo much time over the past 10+ years. Thank you so much for sharing this invaluable information. I guess I need to spend more time learning.

The things we learn by doing a little research.
Do you use other NLE software?

Number 7 absolutely blew my mind. I've had to edit a few videos now where I've wanted to edit the sound, so I would DUPLICATE THE AUDIO, cut it into parts, and fade the two tracks into each other to create the illusion that there was only a single track fading down. I didn't even consider keyframing sound, and I had NO IDEA that this R shortcut existed. You just cut my editing time for audio to a fraction of what it was. Thank you sir!

On a German Keyboard instead of the Tilde Key, which we do not have, we use ^ (Hochzeichen / Caret).
Trim the start: opt+ß - Trim the end: opt+ü

Great video, but keep in mind that not all users use English keyboard so the default keys for the shortcuts (like the tilde key and the brackets) are not there but you have to make the shortcuts in the Command Editor.

Serge, as always awesome video! The first tip already got me hooked, was manually dragging the attached clips😅 maybe I have missed something, but how do you replace the gap clip with another clip? I now click on lift from timeline and paste another clip where the gap was..
    Keep up the great work!

I cannot get the tilde trick to work as my keyboard is not US. Even if I change it in preferences, does not work. Can't change the key in the assignment keys menu either. I really need to unlock this feature.

Hmm. I use Create Archive to make a complete copy of the card first. Then I import from that. Copies are a good thing. Drives crash. Clips become corrupted. I always Archive for safe keeping.
