Whisky .com tastes the Knob Creek Rye. Knob Creek is a whiskey from the small batch Bourbons from the Jim Beam distillery. It is a premium selection of the best casks from the Jim Beam warehouses. It results in a lot more spiciness and intense flavours than the normal typical with its vanilla and mellow character.
The nose:
A light vanilla note, spiciness of rye, aroma of american oak
The taste:
A very spicy rye touch, intense, liquorice
The finish:
Long, warm and mild spiciness

Horst, this whiskey blew my mind. That cinnamon organic grassy fire rye spice back end is beyond delicious.
This has quickly become one of my favorite rye whiskys. Thanks for having a drink with me. Cheers!
It makes for an excellent mixer rye!
This was my first rye whiskey. Gonna be hard to match up to that one.
Amazing how you enjoy your whiskey and describe it as everyone should
I'm in. We have some at the store here in Moose Jaw. I will have to get some. All too many say it's amazing Rye and I love Rye.
Dave Nicholson You will see the production of Knob Creek in about three weeks.
I've been to Moose Jaw about a month ago. I really liked the Mineral Spa, but I didn't like the talking traffic lights.
There is one thing that really bothered me. That road-sign with the moose on. I think he was on a leech with a pedestrian. What the hell does this mean??? I think you see a few when you walk from the old train station north trough the city center.
BL
Whisky.com Pedestrian crossing sign. They thought it was cute. First when I saw them go up I knew people would have no clue...
Love watching your reviews. You're meant to do this and thank you so much.
Your sipping and tasting technique is the best!! I do the same with the added "Kentucky chew" at the end.
I do the same as you and wow, the flavour really comes to life!
The Knob Creek was on Amazon sale on Black Friday in Germany for
Just picked up a bottle of this here in Houston Tx, cheers!! Great review!!👊💪
Horst, Thank you for doing such a fine job with your review! Its greatly appreciated!
This is thought by most to be just over the required rye content of 51% with the balance being rather high in corn. It’s felt by many that it is sort of half way from a Bourbon to a full rye in that it is a mix of sweet and spicy. I find the following...Very cinnamon, butterscotch, vanilla, brown sugar...corny rye...long long slightly oaky pepper finish. Nice warm viscous mouth feel. It’s not rare here, but widely available for between $30 - $35 USD. Well crafted and of solid quality. Lotta fun for a very reasonable price.
You’re right about the ‘’low’’ Rye content, I read online that the mashbill is 55% Rye, 35% corn and 10% malted barley
interesting perspective . cheers from Northern indiana usa
found this channel because of the lagavulin 16 review. love your voice and your professionalism. please review Templeton Rye :)
Have you had a chance to taste Millstone 100. An excellent straight rye from Holland.
A true gentleman!
I enjoy all your videos.. merry Christmas.
Laurence Hartnett give has a Gift to your family it’s good bottle of rye whisky 🥃
Laurence Hartnett j
5:50 Your mic is really good lol
I've noticed that a small percentage of Rye in the mash bill may acually cover the alcohol taste in a favourable way. Woodford/Knob Creek Kent. Str..Bourbon are "smooth"/gentle. Rye is also Spicy. So is there any merit at all to my hypotesis or could the be another explanation why some are stronger than others? Is Rye the amswer?
Yes
Are there any rye whiskeys that are produced in Scotland?
No.
Very sweet & spicy rye whiskey------delicious and one to remember.......
Easy to sip solid rye!
it's an excellent rye
Great review keep up the good work! Have you reviewed Makers Mark bourbon by any chance? Cheers!

Happy to find you do these videos in english as well! Those UA-cam auto subtitles made you say very weird things when I tried them on your german speaking videos haha! BTW, I can get this for 50$ CDN around here, how many EUR did you pay for it ?
I'm not allowed to say how much we pay for it, but we currently sell it for 39.90€ (German Citizens only)
Whisky.com
Not so far from what we're paying, I guess the extra your customers pay is due to shipping, but here for 50$ we get a 750ml bottle :) . I'm curious, can anyone set up a liquor store in Germany ? You seem to be an independant. Do you need government license to do so ?
Francis Ducharme No, everybody can open a liquor store here. But what you face afterwards with red tape work and official checks in terms of tidiness, duty accuracy, a.s.o. is probably more than one would expect of a license free business.
The Whisky Store
Ah I see, "free" market, but only if you jump through all the government hoops. They tend to do this, yes.
Horst,
Jack Daniels Single Barrel Rye. Outstanding, you'd appreciate it.
His son Ben did a review on it ! :

a very nice whisky
Beam Inc has great barrels. Pray lightning won't strike

Knob creek, makers mark, jim beam or jim beam black, woodford reserve is the best bourbon for me ... bullet bourbon too strong, wild turkey too spicy and others ... like early time is too light ... bufallo trace too oaky ... no many kind of bourbon is available in indonesia ... your review give me an outside view about whisky ... 👍
He's talkin' RYE!
Really enjoyable! Cheer's
This is going to be long, so please bear with me..........I am a huge fan of old western movies, and also those classic old western TV series such as Bonanza and Gunsmoke. I have forever wondered exactly WHAT kind of whiskey they were drinking in those old western films back in the day. You know, when the old gun fighter burst through the swinging doors of the saloon, walks up to the bar and says.......Give me a whiskey! The bar tender always pulls out a bottle of whiskey that doesn't have a label and pours a whiskey for the gunfighter. Well, I always wondered just exactly what kind of whiskey they were drinking in the saloons of those old movies and TV shows. Yes, I know it is HOLLYWOOD, and they probably weren't drinking whiskey at all on the movie set......probably just tea. But still, those old movies and TV shows were based on real historical events......and the ACTUAL cowboys and gunfighters...not the movie actors......were actually walking into saloons in the 1800s and ordering up a "whiskey" in saloons back in those days...........just like in the movies. Well, being a "purist" I always wanted to try the same kind of whiskey that they drank in those saloons back in the "old days". Well, I did a little bit of research on the topic......and I learned from multiple sources......that the most common kind of whiskey available back in the days of the American frontier was most likely 100 proof straight rye whiskey. And THAT is what prompted me to purchase a bottle of Knob Creek 100 Proof Straight Rye Whiskey this morning from my local supermarket. I wanted to taste what Hoss Cartwright and Matt Dillon were supposedly drinking in those saloons of the old west. Well, I can tell you that I was sorely disappointed! This stuff..........KC 100 proof straight Rye whiskey.......well, I find it to be undrinkable. Absolutely HORRID! I poured myself a "double" straight-up......no ice. Just like they would have drunk in back in those saloons of the American old west. Tastes like paint thinner to me.......and to tell you the truth I was wondering if I might not have gotten ahold of a "bad bottle". Like I said.....TOTALLY undrinkable.....PUTRID. Now before you go off on me......my go-to whiskeys are Wild Turkey 101....Crown Royal original....Jack Daniels reserve.....SO, I am no stranger to strong drink. But this Knob Creek 100 proof straight rye is something else........I may have to sink-pour the entire bottle unless I can find something to mix it with.
Did Knob Creek Rye ever grow on you? A lot of people slowly say these types of pungent whiskeys grow on them after a while. I use to prefer “smooth” whiskey but now I love the “bite” from a strong, high proof, high(ish) rye whiskey. That lingering, evolving aftertaste with the slow warming of the chest building up from that “Kentucky Hug” is straight up awesome!
Whiskey Sam. And leave the bottle. (gunsmoke)
Rye is to Bourbon what a heavily-peated Islay malt is to something like Glenlivet. I love both Rye and peated Scotch, but people who are averse to pungent flavours and want a "smooth" whisky experience are understandably going to look elsewhere. Your mentioning Crown Royal to prove you are "no stranger to strong drink" made me laugh. That's practically brown water.
Would like to get your take on E.H. Taylor straight Kentucky Rye.Very pricey in Canada at $85 for .750L but I find myself hoarding bottles to my wife's chagrin.
That is very expensive indeed.
Whisky.com This is $70 in the US so it is not inexpensive anywhere. An annual release only from what I have read.
Would like to see a review of Lot 40 rye from Canada. I believe it is now available outside Canada. Beautiful complex whiskey.
Cheers and I enjoy your reviews (in english :)
+peter white 1 year after your post and I just payed 28 plus tax!
I’d really like to know more about this whiskey but I just cannot focus over all the mouth noises.
Brandon Wehr try its good tasty whisky 🥃
It's a 9 minute video, and he doesn't swish the whiskey until like 6 minutes in. You let 5 seconds of him tasting it stop you from watching the video?
Sympathisches English 😉. German style.
alcohol part of drink killing your liver
Why some people need to smack their lips? Is this learned behavior or they salivate excessively?
Your voice is creepy
