- Here is a helpful mold making video created by Marvelous Molds that teaches basic mold making techniques using an amazing mold putty called, Silicone Plastique®, which is found at www.makeyourow.... Mold making is a valuable skill that can be very useful for just about anyone who is involved in creating a physical object. I have taught thousands of people how to make molds and have come to realize that most people have a predetermined opinion that mold making is very technical and difficult to perform. It is true that mold making can be very complex, but you may be surprised to find that 90% of the physical objects around you right now can be molded with Silicone Plastique®. The reason this is possible is because I have spent a decade and a half developing this amazing mold putty into a perfect consistency that feels like modeling clay and is very user friendly. Originally designed for chefs to be used in kitchens for food molds, Silicone Plastique® is completely non-toxic, food grade and complies with FDA regulations concerning synthetic rubber coming into repeated contact with food. While chefs world wide use Silicone Plastique®, it is amazing how this easy to use silicone mold making compound has found its way into many diverse areas. Scientist and engineers purchase Silicone Plastique® in order to make molds of their inventions so they can have a collection of duplicate prototypes. Paleontologists use it to make molds of fossils right at the dig sight and in museum work shops. Restoration experts use Silicone Plastique® to make molds of ornate moldings and picture frames in order to repair damaged originals. Artists, polymer clay & precious metal clay sculptors find Silicone Plastique® perfect for reproducing their original art creations into exact copies that can be sold for a profit. Educators, parents and children's activity directors find Silicone Plastique® to be a medium that fascinates kids and very helpful in creating parts needed for science projects or other educational endeavors. Professionals in all industries have found Silicone Plastique® to be an excellent material to have on hand for making custom gaskets and seals for machinery, handles for tools, bumpers and pads for conveyor and assembly lines. Custom shaped pads and coverings for orthopedic and prosthetic applications are also made with this amazing silicone mold making putty. Silicone Plastique® has even been used by farriers to treat a horse's hoof by packing this smooth and pliable mold making compound into the hoof under the shoe in order to add support and helpful repair to a horse's hooves. The list is endless of how Silicone Plastique® is being used throughout the world and quite a fascinating story when you consider that it was originally designed as a chef's mold making material. But in a way, it makes sense when you consider that a chef, like us, has at his disposal only the basic kind of tools found in a kitchen. He, like us, doesn't have much time nor can he undertake a process with a complicated learning curve involving technical equipment. Sounds like the rest of us, doesn't it? It seems that what will work for a chef in the kitchen is perfectly suited for the rest of us, namely a mold making system that is easy to use, a consistency that we can handle like clay or play-doh and a quick curing time that yields a strong, pliable mold that can be reused for a lifetime.
HI Justin, So glad you found us through this video! It is a testimony to UA-cam and our efforts to provide free education via online videos. Thank you for your kind words.
Wow, thank you for your favorable review. I have worked for 15 years perfecting silicone plastique to meet my goal of having the best product worldwide. Your comment confirms that I am on my way. - Dominic
Very cool!
Thank you Alexandra! We realize not everyone has a scale that detects small quantities, so the measuring spoon technique works great.
I bought this. It is awesome!! So much better quality than amazing mold putty that they sell at Michaels! I definitely recommend it!!
This was my effort to make a quick video that lays out just the facts. I am always experimenting with different deliveries. Your feedback is very helpful. - Dominic
Mr. Palazzolo, this video was INCREDIBLY helpful. Thanks so much for the efforts you underwent to make sure everyone could understand it. I've never tried anything like this, but your video makes me feel like it's not as impossible as others make it seem!
Amanda, Thank you for your kind compliments. I am so happy to hear that it is a video that you feel everyone can understand. That is one of my main goals in making my videos. Thank you for taking the time to leave such wonderful feedback.
So smart to use measuring spoons.
I have watched three of your videos so far and have learned more about mold making than I ever knew - and I sculpt with clay and sell my molds for income! I love your demonstration and teaching technique! (I also teach and can spot a great teacher when I see one:) Now I need to purchase some of your professional product. Thank you for creating these wonderful informative videos to go with your products, and for your seemingly endless patience in responding to the comments on all of them! Blessings!
Thank you so much!! Appreciate the your feedback!
You can use the Silicone Spread, it is the consistancy of butter and you can spread it on to your project with a brush. That should help get it on the straw with out breaking it Have a great day!
You can give it a try. But I would recommend using our liquid silicone product Copy Flex. You will want to seal it with confectioners glaze first so that the silicone will not get down into the crevices of the cookie. You can find Copy Flex for sale on the website associated with this video. and on that same website there is a video how to make molds with Copy Flex. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for your kind words. We do have a lot of soap makers that use our products.
Yes you can! Thanks for writing in to us. ;-)
As long as your food is clean, dry, and firm (not soft and oozing like an overripe piece of fruit).
This stuff looks awesome! Just what I was looking for!
I have a quick question: I'm more of a visual person when it comes to quantities, and wanted to know how much each of those containers at the beginning of the video contain, in pounds. Do you know? It would help me when determining how much Silicone Plastique I should be ordering for my project :)
This video is how I found you guys, great product!
Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback. - Dominic
Would love to see a video of a mold with considerable details used with Fondant
Looks very nice and workable. Could you use this to cast pewter? The melting point of pewter seems to be just around or sligthly below what silicone plastique can take. Perhaps you could at least get one casting...
Thank you so much!! I will try again with different objects and clean! (I did not clean them before using)
Thank you very much - Dominic
I enjoyed your presentation very much. It was easy, to the point, and had great tips that other sites didn't have. Thank you
Thank you! We appreciate your helpful feedback.
Presumably when you purchase the plastique is includes both parts?
HI Kim, Great Question. When you purchase one pound of Silicone Plastique you get 1/2 pound of Part A and 1/2 a pound of Part B. If you purchase 5 pounds you will get 2.5 pounds of Part A and 2.5 pounds of Part B. etc.
Thank you Dominic. For someone who is new to the craft this helps. :)
Kim Priestley Ramirez Kim Thank you very much. I hope you will give mold making a try. But be warned... mold making can be addicting!
Oooo! I love it. Saving this video for future projects
Sure, as long as the blown sugar is strong enough to withstand the handling of the mold making process. In other words, if your sugar is delicate, you may end up breaking it while making your mold.
@MiaMccB This is a very hard question to answer. There are many factors that must be considered that contribute to the wear and tear on a mold. How thick or thin is the mold? What is the mold being used for? How large is the mold? Has the mold been stored properly? How often is the mold used? In general, you should consider a mold made with our materials as commercial in grade with a toughness that insures long mold life and dependability. It will last you for years and many uses if used properly
you made it look very easy. thanks
KewneRain, You can certainly create a mold of your finger. You will want to take into consideration how you are going to stand the finished mold up so that when you pour the liquid gummy solution into it it doesn't tip over. Go to the website associated with this video, got to "How to Make Molds" then scroll down to "How to Use Easy Shell Maker". If you have further questions you can choose the contact us option on the web page.
I filled containers to the top for this video in order to show the product well, I would say that this resembles a two pound kit (1 pound of Blue + 1 pound of White) - Dominic
Thank you for your help, but it purchased silicone mold putty or amazing mold putty it it works very very well I love ❤️it a lot
Hi Vitrobijou, Thank you for your question. Silicone Plastique will allow you have have a shiny finish to your resin when it comes out of the mold you create. You will want your original object that you make your mold from to be the cleanest and shiniest possible. Starting with a clean and shiny object will allow your final mold to have a shine to it as well, if you original item is dull and dirty that will transfer to the mold and your final resin peices will look dull and dirty.
Sir, this is very awesome, looks interesting! I like it!
@bigbunny339 If you buy 1 pound you will get 8 ounces of part A and 8 ounces of part B. You only combine the amount that you need for each project and when it has all been used up, you will have one pound of cured molds in your collection. Hope this helps.
Palina, Excellent question. Our silicones can withstand temperatures up to 400 degrees F. You can actually put your polymer clay in the mold and bake it in the mold. When you create something using our products be sure to send us photos! We love to see our customers creations.
Great questions! Our silicone can withstand temperatures of up to 400F. If you are able to work with those materials within the temperature allowance, you should be fine. Try it and send us pictures of your creations!
Thanks great teaching
Styrofoam and polystyrene are porous materials and the Silicone Plastique can become mechanically locked into the surface once it cures. You should seal these materials first before applying Silicone Plastique so you can peel the silicone off cleanly. Hope this helps.
Dear Halayamani,
The smallest amount you can purchase of Silicone Plastique is one pound. The amount used in this video at the beginning was measured probably 1-2 pounds in each container.
Yes, fresh Silicone Plastique will bond to cured Silicone Plastique
Yes. now I saw it late on this VID,, It can be use in making soap,, Thanks a lot..
Yes, it works quite well with polyurethane - Dominic
Hi :) You show in the video that it can be used with polymer clay. so my question is: Do i have to take out the clay before baking or is it possible to bake the clay direktly in the mold?
You can do either. It can be baked directly in the mold or removed before baking.
Does this hold up well when using resin in it? Like can it last? Mold putty breaks off and platinum silicone is amazing and awesome but a little pricey! Great video!
Hi Cyra,
Thanks for your inquiry, Of all the clay like silicone, silicone plastique would be best with 30 to 50 uses maybe more. In general liquid silicone better.
Yes, Silicone Plastique will resist casting temperatures in excess of 400 degrees F. Works great with candy. - Dominic
This is a super video. I have a question for you. Can we melt plastic and pour in silicon mold? Is is possible for silver too? please help mp.
I couldn't find this particular brand, Silicone Plastique, on Amazon. Any suggestions. The others do have a quick working time. I like the way yours works. Your tutorial is concise and perfection. Thank you.
Hi Cathey, You can always purchase Silicone Plastique at MakeYourOwnMolds.com
@MakeYourOwnMolds thank you
Making a mold of a lacrosse head is advanced mold making. You can always call me for more in depth help. - Dominic
Yes, you can make a mold using silicone plastique and use it to mold silicone plastique into a part or a particular shape. You must apply a release agent to keep the plastique from bonding with itself. A thin double coating of Release-Dit will do the job perfectly. You can find Release-Dit at my website listed in the above description.
Nice job.
Looks like I need some.
Dear Aref. You can give Silicone Plastique a try. You can purchase it from the website associated with this video
How long do these molds usually last? How many uses do they have (if used properly)?
Very nice 👌👍
Yes it is completely safe and we do ship to Singapore - Dominic
Hi, looks like a great product. Can this product be used with air dry clay, and ultra thick embossing powders that are heated up.
Regards Gina :-)
merci beaucoup pour cette information utile
You are welcome! Glad you liked the video!
Sir, this video is very helpful. I just have one question, can this silicon be reused to make another mould, if so how?
If air drying clay or plaster of paris is used with a Silicone Plastique mold, will the mold still pull off or would another agent need to be added to allow safe removal of the casting with no damaging?
Al Johnston man it would have been nice if he had have answered this question. I really like to know about the plaster of Paris aspect when using these molds.
Hi Al, No mold release is required. That is what is so great about Silicone Plastique
thank you!!
Hi thanks for this video great info. Please tell me after using these mounds for clay and plaster of Paris is it ok to use for edible products?
The kit used in this video contains three pounds of Silicone Plastique. 1 lb. 8 ounces of Part A and 1lb. 8 ounces of part B. You can order any amount you want and we pack it for you.
Cual es su costo??
There are no ingredients that are considered toxic in the make up of silicone plastique. It has been tested as food grade when it is cured. - Dominic
Would pla from 3d prints be ok to use or would they need a release agent?
I have a question. I was wondering if this would work with blown sugar. Thanks.
you can purchase Silicone Plastique on the website associated with this video. I'd like to put a link to the website here, but UA-cam won't allow puting web links in the comments.
Which material u have been used
You can mold cement in a silicone mold. However, after using the cement in your mold, the mold will no longer be food safe. Thanks for your question and have a wonderful day.
Can i use this to make a shoe heel mold.Like this video.
Once the silicone is cured, it cannot be reused to make another mold. However, you CAN reuse the mold over and over again.
Would it be able to make a mold of an actual Oreo Cookie withOUT breaking the cookie and messing up the mold? =O

Hi! Do you get shinny resin pieces on the front when you use this mold? I have tried Sillicon Mold Putty but my pieces are opaque! any tip? thank you so much!
Can you cast pewter?
Once Silicone Plastique has cured, it is permanent. It cannot be melted or dissolved to be reformed. - Hope This Helps - Dominic
Can the polymer clay be baked whilst in the mold? Or will the mold peel off so easily that the clay will not move during the removal process. I couldn't tell in the video if the polymer clay was baked or not in your example.
+Jennifer Esselman It is best to remove the mold before baking. It will peel away easily to remove the polymer clay. You could try baking the clay in the mold but it may change the necessary baking times, it would require some experimentation.
can i mold cement with silicone? just want to make sure

Can i fill silicone plastiique with silicone to get my fingerprint?!
Hi I am doing some jewelry with resin and i need a shiny look on my resin. Does this material provide a mold witch gives a shine to the resin, I read that with some other products the resin end up looking foggy, I just want to be sure before purchasing it. Thank you
Hi wenbiafra, If your original object has a nice shine the Silicone Plastique will pick up that shine and give a shiny mold. The resin you put into your shiny mold will have a shine too. If your original object is dull or dirty then your mold and anything you cast in the mold will be dull.
Polymer clay too ?
Hi !! I am making a Robotic fish and looking for materials to form the skin.
