They will likely still turn out just fine! I usually plant mine anywhere from horizontal to 45 degree angle, but as long as the crown of your root is towards the surface you will still get sprouts :) Also if you just planted last week your root likely hasn't grown much at all and it would still be safe to dig it up and rearrange it on an angle. I have found that an angled or horizonal planting results in more foliage and more root growth!

I just planted a root that looked like a club in some rough soil for an attempt to have it take over an area that grows wild honey suckle in my yard
