I remember hearing this organ when it was installed in the Marsden Green Hospital, it had an electronic melotone attachment & the horn/speaker for this was hung up in the roof trusses, a powerful sound in that relativity small room.
You remind me of Nigel Ogden with that enthusiasm he always puts into the theatre organ chit-chat! I've always liked the Compton sound and used to holiday as a lad in Plymouth every school summer holiday for a couple of weeks. That meant visits to the Plymouth sound as it was known! Dudley Savage at the fantastic Compton 3/8 installed their. The Compton was said to be one of the finest installed anywhere for tonal quality! And is sadly missed !
Thank you for the interesting and informative video. I had heard and seen images of the Fentham Compton, but knew nothing of its past. The rank tour and sounding was nice (such a pity the beloved piano tab did not get used, I assume a digital addition based upon it only appearing on the great and solo), and gave a lovely feel for the instrument, rounded off with you playing. An all around fine video, thank you for sharing.
good to see you Gordon.... great organist who took over from me early 1970s at the George Hotel (Ronnie Marquiss)

Fantastic video. Really enjoyed watching it. Fentham Hall is a lovely venue and I always enjoy supporting the organ concerts there 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it!
