      @@comicbossone2411 If it even damages the seals, but probably not. I've been dieseling my old Chinese B1 .22 break barrel for years because it's a low powered gun (about 420fps) and it needs more power. I saturate a tin of pellets with WD40 and then just grab a pellet when I want to shoot and it diesels. The power is increased to about 550fps which is reasonably powerful for this old gun and it does the job. It's never hurt the seals as far as I can tell. But so what if it does, just replace the seal.

      I have to try this with my same Daisy, I thought it only works with break barrels because they compress the air as you shoot compared to daisy or a PCP, where it's compressed before shooting. Thanks!

    Hello Dustin,
    Thank you for sharing the video! We all appreciate the time and effort it takes to create great content. I noticed one small detail around the 6:50 mark. You mentioned that the energy was 37.6 foot-pounds, but based on the numbers you provided, it seems the energy should be closer to 27.77 foot-pounds. I am guessing you said 37 instead of 27! lol
    Here are the values and the formula used to calculate it:
    Pellet weight: 14.3 grains
    Velocity: 935 feet per second
    The formula for foot-pounds of energy is:
    FPE = pellet weight × velocity² / 450240 = 27.76611

    Thanks again for the content, and I hope this helps!

    Hi Dustin, this Is David from New Zealand , bottom of the Pacific ocean iudk. I Brought approx 4 years ago a single Load/Shot air rifle in N Z. It is a Gamo Whisper Maxxim IGT in .22. I brought specific for small game , is rabbits and Possums not the U.S. variety. I chose this because of its reliability and precision. For hunting I use a gamo match grade pellet at 18.5 grams but I also have a h&n 21 grain pellet for close in targets. I have found no info whatsoever online about this particular rifle. It was the most expensive in store, and the most deadly and reliable. It is shooting the 19 gm pellet at 800 + fps. And with my extra light gamo raptor pellets no more than 13.5 gns over sound barrier. It is extremely well made and durable. Put this way if I were to point a MTR away from most living targets its bye bye. Not that I would . I was hoping perhaps you could find some info on it and let me know. God Bless

    I think it was Weihrauch who made a pellet gun that actually had an oil dropper built in to take advantage of dieseling, it automatically put a drop of light oil on the back of the pellet. Cannot recommend doing it with a decent modern air rifle though, it will damage your seals and piston, and as soon as you go supersonic with a pellet (rather than a slug) it makes them ballistically unstable. Loads more power but you can't hit a barn door.

      It works great. I use WD40 poured into a tin of pellets, and just store them that way. When you want to shoot just grab a pellet and it's ready to go. But the thing is, you only diesel the pellets, not the compression cylinder, so you don't put oil in the compression cylinder.

    Thanks for the video, up till now I did not know what dieseling was, I hear people talking about it but never saw anyone show or explain what it was. Now I know, but not sure why anyone would do it as they say that oil in the pellet rifles is not good for them, but it was really cool to see what it does. I have a new Gamo Swarm Magnum 10X Gen3i .22 caliber that will arrive here Friday (8/25/23), I bought a Ruger Blackhawk .177 about 2.5 years ago and it has already stopped working and I can’t find any repair parts for it, that was a waist of $135.00, so this time I went with a better rifle I hope. Thanks again for the video.

    • @trevorjameson3213
      @trevorjameson3213 4 місяці тому

      The Gamo swarm magnum 10x Gen3i already produces enough power. No need to diesel that one. But it's ok with older, less powerful gun, just diesel the pellet only, and never put oil in the compression cylinder. I mean you could, but it ruins the piston seal, and the time I saw it happen, it dieseled so hard it recocked the spring. But that was dieseling happening in the compression cylinder, not in the barrel (when you diesel the pellet only).

  • @myprivatewar
    @myprivatewar 14 днів тому +1

    Instead of dieseling the piss out of each pellet, i just spray a good amount of rem oil into the pellet tin and slosh it all around....that way all the pellets get slightly coated and diesel pretty good.

    If it's any consolation, I noticed a huge decrease in accuracy when I was dieseling with my air rifle a few years ago. I was using a nitro piston .177 Crosman F4 with the same pellets you used and some Rem Oil.
    Definitely sounded like a gun shot, there's no doubt that those pellets were supersonic. Spec on the rifle is 1200 fps with non-lead pellets, and 1000 with lead. Based on your results, I'd wager the lead pellets were going at least 1400, maybe more. Supersonic is about 1125 fps.
    Trouble is, they went everywhere. I couldn't even hit a soup can at 20 yards anymore. Shots were completely unpredictable. The piston housing got pretty warm, and now the gun rattles a lot. Would not recommend trying this on a rifle you want to keep nice. Not safe or practical, but a lot of fun.

    • @ryanbudney3356

      The decrease in accuracy is largely due to the inconsistency in fuel burned during detonation. That results in irregular velocities, which gives poor aim. Most pellets aren't designed for over 900fps, as well. So you could migrate to a heavier pellet.

    I use the pellets with a point. Also, i use the red bearing grease. ( just happen to have red ) And then comes the magic, I pop the top of a 22 round and mix the powder with the grease. Fill the back of the pellet and down comes the crows. It's got a crack to it. It takes the crows out with no problem. I shot it many times, the gun seems fine. I would not do this with a good gun. Well I would, but you shouldn't.

    Dieseling simply means ignition under pressure ..... the flash point is the key here > gasoline vs kerosene . 3 in 1 is a lubricating type oil whereas Hoppes gun oil is a cleaner with a MUCH lower flash point ............ try it !!!

    Curious to see the effects of different grain pellets, and different oils. A heavier pellet might allow the pressure to build higher, and give the fuel more time to burn.
    Also a little piece of advise - put the numbers on the screen when you mention them, and its easier to keep the overview.

    You are a really interesting guy. I love it when folk Wade into the comments without knowing a thing about you. It never occurs to them that you’re not playing around with air guns because you have to and have no options but because you enjoy it and choose to. Loved it when you pulled out the AR too. This was a brilliant video. Thanks from across the pond.

    I like using petroleum jelly because you can pre load a whole can of pellets ahead and the jelly stats on as long as it's not super hot out. Even when it's warm enough stays on the pellet to work well.

    What do ya think will happen to the o rings that seal the chamber?

    • @trevorjameson3213
      @trevorjameson3213 4 місяці тому +1

      It won't hurt the piston seal as long as you don't put the oil into the compression cylinder. Just put tiny amount of oil on the back of the pellet only, and you'll be good to go. The O-ring breach seal will not be affected at all. No need to worry about that. Those wear out anyway over time, and they are very easy to replace. But even if you do put oil in the compression cylinder and diesel it, and ruin the piston seal or break the spring, those too are easily replaceable. So yeah, just put a tiny bit of oil on the back of the pellet only and the gun will be fine. Or, don't do it at all, get a more powerful pellet rifle. Lol
