CORRECT LYRICS from the official Opeth youtube page: I once upon a time Carried a burden inside Some will ask, goodbye A broken line but underlined There's an ocean of sorrow in you Sorrow in me Saw a movement in their eyes Said, I no longer knew the way Given up the ghost A passing minds and it's a fear In the wait for redemption ahead Waiting to fail Failing again If death should take me now Count my mistakes and let me through Whisper in my ear You've taken more than we've received And the ocean of sorrow is you
@@antoniomaraspin That part is clear. I meant the story. I see one clearly in my head whenever I hear it and I wanted to know if it was just that well written or if my imagination had taken off.
It's about the feeling of going through life collecting a burden of sorrows, uncertainties. regrets, mistakes, and failures to learn fundamental life lessons and somehow hoping it's still good enough to earn you a better place in an afterlife that you hope exists. Quite honestly, it's what everyone, in their heart of hearts, thinks about in this life... wondering if we can somehow fail forward. It's one of the realist songs ever crafted, truth be told.
my do died about 2 months ago and this song is one of only a few that brings me comfort and it is truly a masterpiece.

CORRECT LYRICS from the official Opeth youtube page:
I once upon a time
Carried a burden inside
Some will ask, goodbye
A broken line but underlined
There's an ocean of sorrow in you
Sorrow in me
Saw a movement in their eyes
Said, I no longer knew the way
Given up the ghost
A passing minds and it's a fear
In the wait for redemption ahead
Waiting to fail
Failing again
If death should take me now
Count my mistakes and let me through
Whisper in my ear
You've taken more than we've received
And the ocean of sorrow is you

estremecedora incansable como siempre
I always thought he said "there's a notion of sorrow in you" and "and the way for redemption ahead".
Lol
What do you think it means? What's it about?
Not too sure myself, maybe a relationship
It’s about depression
