It's really bizarre to me how many people here in the comment section don't seem to get this at all. He's not advocating for more violence, he's exposing how violent we already are, just in a "polite", "discreet", and "civilized" manner. Sadly, his entire point is going over so many heads. Don't believe me? Consider this line: "The blood is already on our hands; all we're talking about is a manner of degree." (after people start to feel uncomfortable after the handsaw line)

      Agreed.
This is sarcasm at its finest.
The real joke was on the people who were agreeing to what he was saying.
He just was merely proving the point on how ruthless inhuman people we generally are.
And some extra points for the religious “Judeo-Christians” for the excessive brutality over the recent history.
It just flew over most peoples heads.

Hanging was for criminals. A sympathetic guard, Jack “Tex” Wheelis, likely provided the cyanide. The Nazis executed strangled at the end of the rope, a horrific way to perish.

Free enterprise is great, yes, but not at the extremes. Socialism is good, but not too much! You need a delicate balance. It is not all black and white. You need to be careful and always keep adjusting the delicate balance carefully. Look at Venezuela (all corrupt and all left) vs Switzerland (very little corruption and middle ground for socialist vs capitalist balance). If we WE THE PEOPLE let it happen, Feudalism is surely coming back! Please look up Feudalism. In it, the people did not know any better, they worshiped a King that pretty much OWNED them. They were very near slavery, yet they were brain washed to think the King was on their side, ... until The French Revolution, when the Kings lost their heads! The 1% better know, there is a limit to how far they can stomp on the 99% until another revolution to really clear the swamp! No matter how many morons claim socialism is Nazi like, and no matter how many idiots bend-over-and-spread for the 1%, the people will one day wake up like the French did. That WAS a surprise for the Kings, they never expected such a revolution to happen because they took it granted that centuries of abuse of the people was just the norm.

Oh how did the peace negotiations go North Korea with all the other presidents? Oh that’s right they didn’t even attempt to negotiate peace with them until trump went over there and had a little chat and convinced Kim Jong Un to denuclearize! Better yet if trump was really a puppet why would they be trying so damn hard to impeach the guy when they can’t even show proof of an impeachable offense? Why would they want to impeach a puppet who has the same agenda as them? Trump is anything but a puppet that’s why everyone in DC hates his guts because he can’t be bought and he won’t sell out America the way these greedy ass hypocritical politicians have done since 1913!

This is why Bill Hicks is the best comedian, while Carlin is 2nd in my opinion. Hicks was just as critical of modern society, but he always had this sense of hope that we could do better if we could just break free of the imagined shackles of the powerful.

I don't know how it's possible to watch this thing and get to a conclusion where this guy was sincerely FOR death penalty instead of being against it?

@@Jakkomies I didn't mean to imply he was sincerely for the death penalty, sorry if you took it that way.

Yeah, he said he didn't care one way or the other. His intention here is to not predispose the audience to what is coming next: An illustration of a totally barbaric society - those criminals who should be executed and the rest of us who is watching it.

Actually we used to do that, public executions were the norm, the whole family would show up. For hangings, beheading's. It did not stop the crimes being committed.
