Went to Costa Maya in November 2024. We explored just the cruise port. I would never go there again. There were quite a few skin care shops where their employees were aggressively pushy to try or buy their products it made it extremely unpleasant. They would stand outside insisting you take one of their skincare samples. If you take it they try to convince you to go into their store where they deceptively try to get you to try more products and I understand that if you try it they will then make you pay for it when they make it sound free. When we refused the lady started shouting at us "Don't you care, Don't you care?" she was referring to don't you care about our skin not to be interested in their products. This was not just at one store it was all the skin shops.. It was really awful. They bullied people to try to get them to buy.. Then we walked by the area where the flamingoes are. I felt so sorry for them. One looked very sick. And they have them in a very small man made concrete pool, no food in the water all day. Very unnatural. If they open their wings you can see their wings are clipped so they cant leave the area. They did not act normal. These birds are not being treated well. We had wanted to go to the aviary but seeing the flamingo's completely put us off from going. I'm sorry this is not a good review. but the experience was awful. If we went on another cruise and it stopped there we would stay onboard.
