    Another thing is that the restrooms at the base of the excursion did not have running water. The bathroom toilets dont flush, and the worker pours a bucket of water after each use to flush, after you wash your hands, they dump water over your hands to rinse them. Im not sure where her water supply was coming from. Considering the situation the bathroom attendant kept the bathroom pretty clean. I always carry wet one anti bacteria wipes with me and would suggest doing the same to use after you wash your hands. Also take bug spray, I didn't and fortunately the bugs were not bad at all but I bet they can brutal at time.

      Oh no! That's terrible. It was working fine when we were there in May. Hopefully, it's a temporary thing and they'll fix it soon!

    This video made me realize I should only stick with the 3/4 hour long ruins excursions rather than the 7 hour ones lol
    Great video! Thank you to the information!

    I learned early on that best to travel to Mexico etc is October to early April. I have been on 50 cruises. Did Cozumel late September several years ago. Went to Tulum. It was 100 degrees there. Wife had to sit it out. Ahh ha, we learned something about travel down south. From Costa Maya usually book through Native Choice, Have to walk outside the port area to meet them. Have done the Chachobben, Kohlunich, Dzibanche Mayan ruins. Also trip to Lake Bacalar. Dzibanche is way back into the jungle. I am 75 and where permitted I have climbed all these temples. Years ago from Progesso did Uxmal. That was an impressive site. We booked that one through the ship. Even had lunch at a Hacienda and cenote.
    Have fun y'all.

      @@caddothegreat Thank you for the detailed comment. Great information! Our excursion was done by Native Choice too through the third party booking site. We loved that the guide was actually Mayan, who loved in this community, which made it a lot more real than somebody just memorizing the lines.

    It might just be down, but the website Project Expedition is no longer working.

    We were there in early June . Very hot . My wife used here walking sticks to help get up the steps . We felt like the time at the Ruins was not quite long enough . It was worth the effort and we are going back in February

      @@integratedtravelsolutions23 Hey Rob, I think February is a great time to visit. Hindsight is 20/20 and I wish we went earlier in the spring. I think we would’ve loved it a lot more! We might check out Kahunlich ruins next time we’re in that area in the spring time. They look very impressive!

    Great video, well done & informative!!! Do they use the full size motor coach or was that just the tour company you used? Restrooms on the bus?

    • @CruisingKat
      @CruisingKat  27 днів тому

      @@john.margiecheck2471 Thank you! While there are several tour operators for this excursion, when we were there, there were a lot of full size motor coaches parked. However, we did see some full size vans so I can’t guarantee that other vendors don’t use them. We did have a bathroom on board in the back. Let me know if you have any other questions! 😁

      @@CruisingKat Thanks for the quick reply!! So it would seem its dependent on the tour operator. My plan is to book thru the cruise line. Don't want to be a pier runner🤣 I'll do more research with RCL to see what transportation they use.

      @@john.margiecheck2471 From what I’ve seen, they usually use the motor coaches and should have the restroom. Royal Caribbean does not do the excursion themselves. They contract with local providers, and on our sailing, they were using the same provider as our tour. We just booked it with the third-party to save some money. But if you call Royal, they should be able to tell you for sure.

    I did this excursion return on Sept 12th, 2024. It was very hot with the humidity being the worse. I saw several kids who were not enjoying this. Maybe it was the heat. The kids were crying, and a few of them actually threw up. While we were listening to the history the kids became anxious (understandable, I'm not bring critical, but real) Because the kids were bored they were asking their parents how much longer and it was distracting to those of us who where trying to listen. If your kids become restless, walk away from the group and stand a little bit away to allow the rest of the guests to enjoy the excursion. Again, I understand the kids' feelings. I probably would have been the same when I was younger. I definitely recommend this excursion, we booked through RC when the excursions are a ways from the port I always go through the ship because they won't leave a RC excursion behind. They will leave 3rd party excursion companies. I only use 3rd party if the excursion is close to the port, so if something did happen, I can get back to the ship.
    Great review!!

      Thank you for sharing your experience. Our kids (in their 20s now) said they wound not have liked it if they were younger. The heat definitely makes it more difficult to enjoy.
