- I do a kayak fishing and wild hammock camping trip every year and really enjoy them. This year I decided to go a bit earlier than normal and took a bit of gamble with the weather forecast, day one was great but day 2 was far from ideal.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Camping AND fishing. Nice one! Good Pollack. Would have kept it and filleted it for supper. Tight lines!
That was my plan for the 2nd night, but the weather had other plans. Tight lines👍🎣
Slippy boots for slippy 😄. On the drift lures you tried I actually do well on them. Your grub looked great. You deffo need to get down here to Cornwall one day . Our coast not just fishing but the over night stays at the waters edge is perfect for you as it is us . Great video . Tight lines
They do do well, I've since had a few cod on them and they seem to last a bit longer than the Fiiish version. Hopefully getting down to Cornwall in July. Tight lines👍🎣
Loved the video.
Fair play to you!
All the best!
Great vids as usual. Would be great if you and John from the fish locker did a camp, catch and cook vid or 2 up your way. Loved the slippylocker vids you did down Cornwall.
You never know, he might make the journey up here at some point.
mexicana cheese on a burger after a days fishing is the one... great vids... cheers for the content
Life doesn't get much better than Mexicana cheese! Thanks for the comment
You’ve got a new oar 🤔😂 Cracking video 👍😁
Yeeeees! A paddle that’s not broken. 😂😂😂👍. Great little trip. Shame about the weather. Thank you for a great video. 👍
Haha, yep a swanky new one I'm worries about scratching🤣
This was brilliant! Loved it!
Thanks!
Great content as usual, thoroughly enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video mate keep them coming🐠⛺️🐠⛺️
Cheers matey👍🎣
Loving the vids! Do you think you could do a complete beginner bass lure fishing setup video?
Great little trip that mate really enjoyed watching it 👍
Cheers mate! Good to see you posting again!
Another very enjoyable video Nathan. Weather wasn’t good but it looks like you still had fun.
Loved it Liam. Don't get me wrong I love glassy, calm days, but there's something quite exciting about a bit of rough weather.
Brilliant stuff mate as always, I need to do a solo trip this summer for sure.. tight lines bud 🎣
Cheers mate. The lochs are idea for this typeof thing. Tight lines👍🎣
Looked like an amazing trip :-)
Really enjoyed it, only wish I got that 2nd night in
Fishings answer to a Top Gear Special 👏🏻
The lengths you’ll go to for a Burgers and beers in the sticks 🤣👌🏻
Those boys are my inspiration! :-)
Nice edit buddy, enjoyed watching that, not always just about the fish........ will definitely give those drift lures a go on our Sussex Bass, thanks dude
👌
Yep, just getting out is the main thing for me. I think they were designed more for bass than what I'm using them for. Check out their Instagram, think there's a load of bass on there from down your way
Love a Wagyu burger, especially the Sainsbury ones, bet they taste even better under the stars. I thought for a weird moment an ice cream van was arriving, it was your alarm.😊
I'll let you know about eating under the stars, those sainsbury burgers seem to bring in the clouds🤣 Tight lines, John👍🎣
Braving the weather for adventure...Got to give it to you bud..the dedication to your sport shows. Slippy rocks defeat the best of foot grip..and the barnacle scraps don't half bleed...had a few of them in my time ;-) Enjoyed the vid as usual. All the best and look forward to the next.
Aye, that's the 2nd worst barnacle rash I've suffered and they do sting a bit. Glad you liked the vid and thanks for the comment👍
i always enjoy your video's Nathan , shame about the weather mate , stay safe
Cheers Steve! Always appreciate you comment!
That looked pretty hard going on the return journey mate, but a great camp set up you have there.
It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, launching was the hardest part. Aye, those aussies know how to camp- all my equipment is from Sea to Summit based in Perth. I work for the UK distributor so never pay full whack, thankfully. BTW, those Ghillies lures turned up, great looking things. Going to save them for bass fishing comp I'm doing in Pembrokeshire at the end of the month. I'll let you know how they do. Thanks mate, really appreciated 👍 🙏
👍💜👍 🎣🎣. Cool camp set up👍👍👍
Cheers matey👍🎣🎣
the eyeball though🤣😟
another great video. I subscribed to your channel mainly to support another 400 user. Great yak! can take some serious weather. I've not got a tackle pod as unfortunately the factory burnt down before mine was dispatched. recommend the chill pod if you can find one. Great videos though, keep them coming and best wishes from sunny Dorset.
They are great yaks, they surf ok too. The tackle pod is a game changer, it's well worth the wait! Welcome to the channel and tight lines👍🎣
Oven bottom muffins, are just the best. Stupid name great bap. Burgers looked fantastic. 😋 was
Haha never thought about the name but you're right. And way better than brioch
British Weather gutted!! cut you short, cant wait for the next trip
Aye bloody typical. Hopefully get on another one of these at the end of August. Tight lines guys👍🎣
Nice 1 pal I'm away to burrowhead Thursday tight lines fella
Lush place to fish. Hope you get amongst them👍🎣
If you haven't already, invest in a PLB, mate. Kayaking alone, around those waters, it might just save your bacon...👍
It's a good shout, having a radio tuned to the local boats is good but a PLB us next one the shopping list.
@@SlippyLimpets 👍
Another great video. Had some of my best night's sleep in a hammock. Shame you were cut short, the weather has been quite unpredictable of late, still nice to see some fish come out.
Me too, even when it's bad weather, it's just a shame there's a lack of trees around the coast, else I'd use it more.
@@SlippyLimpets I have used climbing nuts and cams before in rock but you really do have to have the perfect location.
Great video and some effort went into making it! Sorry you had to cut it short.
I’m sure you’re liking you’re RVRC GP Pro trousers. Top quality gear!
Thanks Bram and yeah, I am really liking them, especially for the price. Thanks for the comment and glad you liked the vid! Tight lines👍🎣
Very entertaining as usual Nathan. You need Supatrack studs, mine are in their 4th pair of boots and still as sharp as day 1.
They're great studs! Have got some in my wading shoes but not in my ones for kayaking. I'll be purchasing some more and upgrading all my shoes. Glad you liked the vid👍🎣
I've got a galaxy Cruz kayak , not been on the sea with it yet , i use it on Scottish lochs for piking , but there are videos on you tube of the galaxy being given a good test on a choppy roker bay . So I can see my first trip being a calm roker bay .
Good little yaks those Cruz, hope you have a good maiden voyage on the salt
Another fantastic video pal! Have you ever thought about doing like a budget challenge video? Like entire setup lures rod line etc for £100 or something? Could be a good way to try get a sponsorship deal on other gear etc
Cheers mate. I'm not really chasing sponsorship, I'd rather use tackle I like and trust. Saying that, the jigging kit used in this vid cost less than 100 quid. 20 quid for the rod, 60 quid for the reel and £10 for the braid.
Great trip and video again Nathan, shame about the wind, I smiled when you slipped and said the salt water would take care of the cut. Spent a day in A+E last week with M-I-L, she has dementia, slipped and broke her pelvis in 2 places, one lady in there had broken her finger nail and it bled, too many woosies nowadays!! take care, Norfolk Ray
Sorry to hear that Ray, hope she makes a speedy and full recovery.
@@SlippyLimpets thanks mate
Great vid!! It really was windy over that way…
Aye, it was mate. Should have been over your way
Great video,that's what it's all about m8
Thanks Dylan!
Another interesting video Nathan, but not what I'd call a relaxing weekend, to much hassle setting that lot up, sooner have a tent ⛺
Aye, it does take a bit longer than a tent but at least you don't need to look for flat ground. That being said, trees seem a bit hard to find by the coast
I’ve been catching loads of pollock on those drift lures
What an example of how to live life , only watched a few of your vids atm , an im loving your adventures bud
Thank you, glad you like them and sorry for the slow response!
Suberb modern art on the bread bun
Haha, that's about as artistic as I get
Love your overnight trips - You have very nice kit.
Why no catch and cook, there were some lovely pollack caught.
BTW, got my net and extender pole in record time but of course ordered the wrong net 🤦♂- have re-ordered a head for the extender so I now will have 2 nets - yay.
It's not cheap kit, but I'm lucky enough to work for that company so get a good discount. I'm not necessarily promoting it though. Glad you got that handle, make sure you either wash it down after use or stick a bit of baseline or wd40 on the threads, they're made of aluminium so salt up pretty quickly.
@@SlippyLimpets thanks for the tip, will want to make it last. Can’t wait to put it into use - I’ll need a fish big enough for the net first tho! 🤣
Another great camping video mate shame about the weather tho, still some nice Pollack and you get to give the kayak a good run out! ! ! Do you like your werner paddle ? I use the skagit it's way better than my old palm paddle especially on long journeys. . Tight lines mate 🎣🎣
Really like the paddle, I'm sure it makes me go faster but worried about scratching it on rocks. Tight lines mate👍🎣
Nice one, Nathan action man extream 😁 hopefully you edited this and it wasn't found on a kayak floating at sea 😉 them burgers made it all worth while mate
haha, yeah I made it back, just forgot to film an outro 🤦Thanks for the comment!
Eyup Nathan. I'm glad to see you didn't need to re-mortgage to get a gadget that can spot a fish's swim bladder and tell you how big it is. Good grief, you could probably tell if a fish needs to fart. The met office however spent 1.2 billion on their new computer and still can't spot wind coming. You went down like a bechdan there fella. I've got an old barnacle stripe on my wrist that smarts like Harry Potter's zig-zag when I see that sort of thing. Nice to see the camp and some fish as always and that you've got the ketchup/mayonnaise ratio cock on. I'm trying to remember the name of the guy from down south who is the boot stud guru....John something I think. I'll have a search. I'll sithi after! Dave
Not me Dave, I have the cheapest cheat device available and it works a treat, but things like this are only as good as their operators, and I was hoping I knew more than the met office guru. Seems I don't bounce as well as I used to, but don't worry about the stud guru, I've got some really good Supatracks which do the job nicely, only not in my kayaking shoes. Have made a swap now though. Tight lines Dave👍🎣
Ty
Great video mate love it , just bought my kayak yesterday should be here soon may I ask what beach your fishing ?
Sorry mate, it's quiet for a reason and if I start publicising it then it'll be heaving. Which kayak did you buy?
Only a week late, but I’ve finally finished it!
Have you tried launching from IoW? I know the slipway is very green and slippy. Too slippy even for Slippy? 😂
Tough luck on the weather, but at least you didn’t lose your keys. Was thinking it was going to turn into a bit of a titanic moment at the end there😂.
Top stuff yet again! Cheers
That slipway sounds ideal for seal launch, straight down😂I've never launched down there but have shore fished, the current seems pretty hectic to paddle in, Plenty of mullet in the harbour though.
Aye, I really shit my self when I saw those slidding out of the hatch, my car down't have any key holes so would have been lock out.
Tight lines mate!
Great video, i was rushing around last year, nearly cut my finger off with my brand new carbon steel bladed knife. I was solo, climbed down the rocks to my fishing spot. Went BAD really quickly lol
Aye, it's when we're excited that most mistakes happen. Need to have a word with myself every so often and tell me to calm down, especially solo
@@SlippyLimpets yea, deffo, can turn very BAD, VERY quickly when solo'ing it :s
Stay safe, we need more vids :P
Just bought some of the drift shaol shads 12cm 30g , yet to try them 🎣
They seem canny, just had my first codling on them last weekend. Cod normally trash the Fiiish variation but the Shoal seemed to hold up nicely
@@SlippyLimpets nice cos the fiiish ones aint cheap as you know 🎣
Thanks for the video, you worked hard on it, as you usually do, however I’d like to explain my feeling: it’s quite insulting eating beef burgers down there.I wonder if you know how fish do taste. Have you ever eat pollock, bass, cod, mackerel, spider crab, etc?
I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend any body. My plan for this trip was to stay for 2 nights and eat burgers on the first, then whatever I caught the next day on the 2nd night. Unfortunately, the trip was cut short. I do have a bass catch and cook video on my channel, check it out if you like👍
Now, if you'd anchored with crab baits the catches could have been very different!
That was the plan for the 2nd day of fishing. Maybe next time🤞
Great video mate. That 'spritely little git,' nearly had your gear.
And Robson Greene calls his 'Extreme fishing.'
My bow would be weighed down with baby wipes. And I'd need a flap in the rear of my wetsuit and a chemical toilet for a seat.
Your channel is certainly something else.
Dare I say it? 'Totally Awesome'.
Sorry.
Await the next one.
Stay safe.
Maybe a bit too much info RE toilet habits. Only joking. As always, thanks for the comment Ian, really appreciate it and tight lines🎣👍
Nice vidoe as always. Do you ever use shads out on the kayak? Had good success from the boat but nowt from the shore with them
I normally use shads and soft plastics more than jigs, but for whatever reason the fish wanted silver jigs on this trip. Depends on what weight shads you use but I never use them with a flowing leader on a lead weight, just the shad by it's self.
Love watching ur video. Im fishing by the pier, can i cast sonar to check what fish down far, and still van connect to my phone?
Thank you
I think so, I've not used one of those castable sonar but depending on the model they can have a connection up to 120 metres away!
Inspiring stuff for sure. What kind of multiplier are you using? I have a tiny kayak rod (4ft maybe) but find small fixed spools sit too far off so what you have looks ideal? Keep the content coming!!
Is that the 4ft Rovex kayak rod? My mate uses that one. The reel is actually a baitcaster, a Shimano Cardiff 301a. Unlike a multiplier, it has a thumb button to release the spool so you can fish with one hand. Great cranking power compared to a fixie
Could be a fladen, think i paid £9 for it. I see the thumb button which looks ideal. Seen an Okuma baitcaster for £40 so probs try that.
Cheers
Not sure what looked more rare, your arm or your burgers 🤣
🤣🤣🤣 I know which one of those options there's more meat on
Love the vid very inspiring for me
What brand is your hammock?
Thanks
It's called the jungle hammock from a brand called Sea to Summit. Glad you liked the video!
👍👍
Hi Nathan, could i just ask, what coffee pot brand you use? Love the videos, they make me wish I had more time to get out fishing.
Thanks, Dave
Hi Dave, it's called an Aeropress and really recommended them, one of the best coffee makers available. Hope this helps and you get out fishing soon.
@@SlippyLimpets 2 young girls and a full time job see most of my time but fingers crossed for a session soon 🤞👍
Tight lines for when you do!👍🎣
seems some of us want to you take the kayak out with the Locker and nail some of those cracking fish I've seen him latch on to..and he would be there as a back up..
I would love that as well, he's 400 miles away from me (a long way in the UK) maybe next summer🤞
@@SlippyLimpets thats a lot of dang miles..now we all sad....bummer..i know for me its to far...BUT...the fact is you two guys gave us a great show...maybe next year... 🤞
@@SlippyLimpets I'll tell you what you need...a fishing mobile...it carrires all your gear...maybe a bed...an old east coast USA fishing woodie...im building one now..but i inly have to go 7 miles...i just hate putting gear in and out of car..its my third try...the first one carried 5 or 6 kids...
Especially when we're paying 1.90 per litre of fuel! Sorry for the bad news but there will defo be another Slip Locker video out
I'd love one, problem is fuel costs. Current cos is £6.18 ($6) per gallon and a big, or small van, uses way more fuel than my estate car (Station waggon) and I can sleep in the back of it. I drove 18k miles last year just for fishing so the cost soon mounts up.
those burgers :)
Tasted as good as they looked 😋
Where abouts is this I fancy trying off that point you drifted through for pollock
unlucky with the weather did i notice someone on the rocks as you were leaving at the end
Aye, it was a shame I couldn't have a 2nd night. They guy on the beach was another angler in the area, turned up that morning
Do you ever keep some of what you catch for a meal ?
Yep, every now and again, and especially if a fish won't go back.
Love the vids mate what app do you use for finding fish
I use a combination of Google/bing maps and navionics to find the places I want to fish. Hope this helps
@@SlippyLimpets cheers and does this work for beach/rock fishing or not
Was your life vest secured at the front? If not it would force your face into the water if you went overboard. Always close your life vest.
Yep, it was secured with a buckle under the zip. Just a bit too warm to have it fully zipped up
Do you recommend the Viking Kayak for a first one? Looking at getting my first Kayak but are they worth it? Good video
They're the best kayak I've paddled, really stable, fast and light weight. Come with a good warranty too. If you buy one then you won't need to change it again in the future
Hi can I ask you a question , I watch your video clips, and I was thinking of going over night but was wondering if you could give me any advice about a hammock,
No problem. Couple of tips are to get one with a built in bug net, sleep diagonally across the hammock for a good night's sleep. Also, they can be cold to sleep in so use a sleeping mat/pad to help keep you warm. Hope this helps
that cut on your arm looks nasty., thanks for the video
My pleasure. It looked worse than it was, it's healed up nicely
first 😎
Hi mate what fish finder are you using and would you recommend it thanks
It's an old Lowrance hds Elite 4X, had it for 10 years and it's great. Think they've been replaced by the Hook 4 now. Only thing I'd change is to get one with integrated chart plotter. Helps find the ground you want to fish
@@SlippyLimpets thanks for getting back to me keep up the good vids cheers
I didnt see a waterproof vhf radio in easy reach. Do you carry one?
I do carry one, it's on the inside of my tackle pod lid
@@SlippyLimpets 👍
why do you throw it back ?
What sonar are you using thanks ?
It's an old Lowrance elite 4x
Use snow tyre studs for shoes u can get them from china
I'll have a look for them, thanks for the info!
Billy on you tube use’s them in Norway and shows you how to put them in 👍
How much do you rate the Viking Kayak?
They are brilliant kayaks, 2nd stability is amazing and they surf well too. The best thing, though, is they're much lighter than the equivalent Ocean Kayak, Galaxy or Jackson kayak. Less energy expended in paddling and easier to lift on and off the car roof. BTW, I'm not affiliated with them in any way
Another canny video, giving the new paddles a work out?
Haha, yeah they seem to work well, might even be a bit quicker than my old paddles
Reel - "Shimano Cardiff" ?
Yep, 301a
@@SlippyLimpets Very nice reel.
I have 401a - for big jerkbaits...
I really like using it, but it's not great with saltwater, I had to replace the handle after 3 months and the spool has seized twice.
How you Havnt lost your head from the amount of times your line wrapped round your tip eye 🤬🤬
It was very irritating, I normally use a fixed spool on that rod and it rarely tip-wraps but it mustn't be designed for using a baitcaster/multi. Going to stick to the fixie from now on
Oh thank god cus I was irritated for you 😂😂😂 awesome video as per! Never fail to impress!
You catch fresh fish and then you eat burgers coming from who knows animal raised who knows how and with what ???? 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
These weren't just any burgers- organic, free range (if there is such a thing when it co.es to cattle) and fed on grass. Delicious. My plan was to eat my catch on the 2nd night, but the weather had other ideas😔
I still don't get it! £100's of pounds of gear, hours on the water, dozens of fish caught and you didn't eat one? I'll keep watching though, just in case......
Hi slippy can you please check your dms on Instagram:)
