I beg to differ, Prom should be considered a formal (black tie) event, that means that classic formal attire (dinner suit, classic dress shirt, black silk bow tie, cummerbund, etc...), should be worn. A well-tailored suit would be appropriate for any other school event, but for this, I would recommend black tie.
Château Angélus 1982 Look, I understand completely. But where else is a teenage boy going to that justifies a tux?? Weddings maybe. But honestly Prom is literally 2 hrs. I don't believe that a $200 tux that you probably might get 2 wears out of prom is justified. But hey, buy a tux if you want to. A well tailored suit would go way further outside the ballroom.
3:25 I completely agree with you. I tried talking about this with some co-workers and they completely disagreed. Said its purpose isn't to hold your pants but to match your shoes.
What? That's insane. I always go for a belt, because not only does it do a fantastic job of keeping my pants up, but it also is very convenient and easy for me.
@@JohnJApanovitch fyi, a tailored suit pant doesn't need a belt to stay up. Every tailor I've gone to had done the same thing where they tailor the pants where they don't require the belt to stay up. I still wear a belt for tradition but suspenders look really nice as well
A lot of mixed feelings about wearing a belt with a suit or not. So I guess it's about your own style or how you want to rock your own wear. I believe there's no wrong or right. I don't think it brings a suit down in my opinion.
Escobar Style1 agreed that’s just preference. So many guys I see wearing belts with well tailored suits and they still look good. To me a belt looks better than belt-less unless you’re wearing a tux.
You are basically free to wear belts with 2 piece suits, but not with 3 piece, wear suspenders with 3 piece suits because the belt will bunch up and will look odd, but here is my opinion, suspenders are way better than belts, they hold your pants up and no tight leather strap on your belly. I have not worn suspenders but can assure that to you.
Fun counterpoint to your "no belts with suits feeling": when you're standing the jacket "should" be buttoned which mitigates the being cut in half effect. :) That being said, suspenders are a nice way to look good when you're not wearing the jacket and not even side tabs can add that nice visual touch.
I learned about shirt stays in the navy. It's such a game changer. I always get comments on how my shirt is always so "tucked in." Guys are blown away when I show them. It's crazy how many people have no clue.
I purchased shirt stays from KK& Jay, the quality was great. Not only that, I missed place a piece on my shirt stay and they replaced with no problem....Great customer service 👍
Do you have a video teaching how to dress for prom? Mine is coming up soon and I wanna look great in beige and white but I don't wanna break the bank I wanna shoot for 100-250 at most and also get some great style tips
100 percent agree that suspenders are better. They hold your trousers up consistently all day with no sag. They also make your shoulders look broader and it’s a very classic style.
hey jose. do you remember that one black 5th way backpack that you once showed? they dont have them on the site anymore. any alternatives or buying sites for that product?
Tailoring is a fine art about making clothing items fit your silhouette. It's a personal service so I think it's best to have face to face interactions and measurements.
I have a question: I recently bought a black suit that has thin black piping around the lapel and on the pockets. I'm not sure if the piping, which has a "satiny" look, is appropriate to wear to work. I've just had it tailored, but still have reservations. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
are you sure your suit fits properly? there seems to be quite a bit of pulling at the button and it has some collargap. Also shirtstays are not the solution to the problem. They just deal with the consequences. The solution is having the sides taken in AND just as important: having high armholes. If your shirt has high armholes and fits slim you'll never need shirtstays.
I've heard of that theory before but that's not entirely true. Almost all my dress shirt are custom, fit perfectly, and have darts in the back. Regardless wearing that shirt all day from constantly sitting down, getting up, reaching down, your body's natural fluctuations, your shirt will become untucked. No matter how well it fits. A Shirt garter is the only solution that really anchors it down all day.
is it possible to reduce the overall size of the jacket for a more slim fit? my current jackets are at 38s but I feel like they need to be smaller than that.
paid $105 to get my first suit tailored by a designer at downtown, haven't picked it up yet gonna wear it july 14th 2019 for a wedding, hope it comes out good...i got the pants hemmed and tapered, the jacket sleeves hemmed and tapered and the jacket waist tapered on both sides :) might give this app a try to see what they'd quote for all that :)
Another great video Jose! Great reminders in one video. Also, if you are wearing the correct size pants you won't need a belt or suspenders. Suspenders just look awesome and classic.
one question: what if you are wearing a vest, would you still use suspenders or use a belt? how would you overcome this issue to make me look bomb lmao, I got graduation in 3 days and prom in 4 days
The irony is that you point out that wearing a belt breaks your silhouette, but that dreaded shirt triangle above your trousers and below your button pokes out and looks weird. Trousers(especially those belonging to a suit) ought to sit at your natural waist, meeting the top button on a 2-button suit. Wearing a higher rise would eliminate the idea that the belt cuts you in half when your jacket is buttoned AND make you look more proportional.
jose your outfits are great wish i could have some of those, but i love the way of your clothing fashion i wish you could teach mo some of your outfits styles
Bro need help So for my prom I am wearing a dark voilet(or maybe blue) jacket with everything else black... Please tell me your opinion on it😅 I am little confused

IMO, don't buy a tux. it's not versatile for the average teen. you'll spend a hundred+ bucks for one night. Buy a nice suit instead.

I mean obviously if you can afford both, then go for both. If not, a well tailored suit will get so many more wears.
Abirul Islam I made a blog article about prom you can read! If you have any questions just reply back! genuinegents.wordpress.com
Damn Jose, three product endorsements in one video? 😂
Change the title to How to Text Tailor your Suit already.
Good to see you back in a suit, man. Feels like it's been a while.
