Hello, my name is Joon. I'm Brazilian.I am 42 years old and a 15-year-old son. I never went to the United States and perhaps never will. But I thank God for being able to show my son a truck that i think a legend the world peterbilt. thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I used to drive a 1979 Pete 352 cab over. Hands down the best truck I have ever owned. It would out climb any truck probably to this day on the Sisters on I80. Good times!
jed-henry Witkowski The only nice trucks is the one in the middle and far left at 6:58 With the one in the middle of being the most common cited in the city of Chilliwack here where I live
My last company rig was a 389 with a CAT with all the Regen bullshit emissions. That motor left me sitting At the dealership for 3 days down in California interstate 8 with particulate malfunction. Loved my truck loved My CAT but hated the emissions.
Da_Ultimate_Wizard_68 agreed. The 379 is about as good as it gets. The Frieghtliner Classic XL and Kenworth W900 are similar and about as good looking as trucks can get. I think Western Stars look great also
Trucks today are ugly and those sloped hoods and high dashboard give very limited visibility. I hate the limited visibility created by the stupid wide cabs as well. Don't even get me started on the crappy turning and rideability of set back axles they beat the hell out of you. It's like riding in a damn cabover on top of the wheels! Absolutely horrendous!
I worked in the plant from '11-13. got laid off. but got my degree in mechanical engineering and now i am back at peterbilt designing and engineer the latest and mechanic/driver friendly truck to come. Been in the field as a diesel mechanic for 5 years and after working on them. its time to make a difference and make it more mechanic friendly and driver friendly. get them back on the road.
Hopefully you don't get burnt out over all the red tape, budgets, and bureaucracy. Then lobbyists from dealers and repair business that want to make sure the customer can't easily fix these trucks.
Sadly all these new trucks are all getting so technical and computerize. It would be hard for a customer to fix it themselves. If they can afford the copyright diagnostic program for the truck. But what I am trying to do is that in the event if a trucker is broke down, the trucker can call a dealer or a shop and tell the technician what particular whats wrong with it so they can get it repair quickly and get the trucker back on the road.
jasonman1515 what’s your take on driverless trucks, how far away until truckers are out of work? My guess is 20 years but a brief answer would be appreciated.
The Peterbilt 350 is a sexy truck. I saw one when I was a little kid it was antique when I saw it in the early 80's but I liked the look of it with the single round lights and that grille I fell in love and been in love with that look ever since
My family has been trucking Owner Operater since my moms dad and my fathers dad went in together in the woods of Northern California and they always drove Kenworth as a kid i always thought i would drive the same till it came time to come home from Mt Hood in Oregon i had been out of town with my dad living in a logging camp for 2 months and it was time for me to return to Northern California and Dave Hammonds just happen to be headed home for maintenance he couldnt do in the woods so i got my first ride in a truck that wasnt a KW and let me tell u it was love at first sight compared to my fathers truck this Peterbuilt had rocker switches that lit up and that Corvette dash the speedo and tach were displayed were sexy to me and Ive Been a Peterbuilt man since.
dad drove 387 for years he hated it, said it was heavy, the tanks were to far forward so you could not fill them all the way and it was always in the shop with electrical issues
Go to the truck and tractor museum at Woodland. California. They have a 1938 Flougle. And 1939 Pete. Identical. Except the logo. I have owned 62 and 69 narrow nose pete's.
I had 4 Petes, one 359 with a big cam cummins and a Eaton 13 speed transmission, love it my other 3 were 379 extended hood with 3406b Cat and 15 LL transmission, there were my babies until California pass the new emissions law, is such a shame that we can't have such of Titans on the road no more to admire.
they are doing well today i like the new 2019s but i really like the trucks like the 379 better, my opinion the 379 and trucks like that look better but i love all Peterbuilts i am very happy when i see them, when i see car carriers on the rode i look at the truck which is hauling it and every time its a Peterbuilt, then im like "Oh A Peterbuilt, Not Surprised!" cuz Peterbuilts are SO powerful trucks, Peterbuilt is my favorite truck brand, and will always remain that way!
I was told by a man in Los Banos he got the last Peterbilt to come off the Newark Ca assembly line with factory straight pipe exhaust in1968. That man was Leonard Meza.
At 1:13 the man standing under the load is Armand E Olsen. "Snozz Olsen." he was #1 truck driver until he retired in 1976. He hired on at Snoqualmie running a speeder while railroad logging. When the decided to truck log from Camp B under "Truck Hill," He was offered the chance to be the guinea pig with the first truck. He never looked back. I secondloaded for him just before he retired. He was quite the character. A fun guy to work around and a real gentleman.
It is truly a shame not to have a better documentary but this shit about Peterbilt. Just look around the whole net, you´ll see a lots of Kenworth and Mack! Fuck what a frustration.
@@charlies.5777 somebody said it looked like he worked out in the gym. i told her it came from loading and unloading trucks . from the time he was a kid. :)
Christina Munter yeah the 359 has way more flavour to it. It is way better looking, they sound better (came with better engines), and the interior looked way better. Can't beat the Corvette dash.
The logo was drawn by my grandfather, Edward S. Ross, Peterbilt's Chief Engineer, in 1939. (The film may be referring to the "debut" in it's current form, but it existed and was used much earlier.)
Skate Creek Diesel Log Truck 12' bunks and cheese blocks. There used to be one up at Ashford WA during the 1960's that ran. The owner let me drive it a few miles up the West Fork Mainline. Kind of cool, but what a hard truck to drive. Although it was better than the L series Mack I had driven. As long as the truck as bunks and stakes, it can only be a fun truck to drive. Freight trucks, nah, who want to spend all day on the pavement?
While the 387 was the first integral sleeper for Peterbilt, it wasn't THE first in the industry. Freightliner and Volvo had them before Peterbilt. Even though I have nothing against Peterbilts, I've always run Freightliners. I don't know if Freightliner had the first integral sleeper or not, but, I still own a 1995 FLD120 with a 70" mid-roof and I know that they'd been building them for a few years before that. Volvo might have been first though.

Parker Browning No different from the 379 it's the 379 new child

Change those ugly ass 389 headlights
I hope they keep making trucks like the 359, 379, and 389. Keep the show trucks rollin for years to come
i hope so too but im sure they wont, it seems all new vehicle are based around gas milage and confort
The EPA can suck a fat one.
jed-henry Witkowski The only nice trucks is the one in the middle and far left at 6:58 With the one in the middle of being the most common cited in the city of Chilliwack here where I live

Peterbilt never will be same without Caterpillar motor
thofi meelan Every CAT Motor I’ve owned has had problems.
Ford Fan01 Did you own any Cat 3408"s?
Yep, a 379 with a C15 or 3406 is about as good as it got
CUMMINS POWER
@@RobertSmith-le8wp 550!
That 387 was plagued with issues, but man was it comfortable.
In N Out Burger in California uses older Peterbilts, I believe the 379. They are immaculate. No sleepers. Tall chrome stacks. Gorgeous.
Nothing after the 379 matters.
+Matthew Kelley what about the 389
oshawnak47 I agree but I dont pay much attention to the headlights I pay attention to the body
Damn right
put custom headlights on the 389 and it's pretty much a 379, only modernized and better in all ways
I agree about the 379 but I just saw a 389 with single round lights on each side and it looked really good. That DEF tank has got to go though
Pete has an amazing history these are the trucks we see on the road.
359 один из красивейших траков без сомнения!🙂👍
My Late Dad Robert had a 1953 Peterbilt built in Oakland California and a 1965 Peterbilt built in Newark California
Peterbilt and Kenworth stories are nearly identical, and both got bought up by Paccar too
I can’t be the only one who doesn’t like the look of the newer trucks
Da_Ultimate_Wizard_68 agreed. The 379 is about as good as it gets. The Frieghtliner Classic XL and Kenworth W900 are similar and about as good looking as trucks can get. I think Western Stars look great also
I know I liked the 70s.

Awesome history lesson and the pictures are awesome!
Best big trucks ever built and the prettiest!
Without question.

I see a lot of these Peterbilt here in northern Arizona. I like to film them.
They built the most iconic truck ever...DUEL 💀💀💀
Молодцы, классный автомобиль
The reason why 379 peterbilts is still a famous truck is that it was built by the heart and the hands and not by the brains and machinery
Love the ones in the movies Duel and Black Dog and of course Optimus Prime.
Прикольное видео!!!!
peterbilt are nice too before the bandwagon people start bitching but that 379 is badass I just grew up more on kenworth trucks coming up.
I hope they don’t ever quit making the long hoods
just expensive as hell to repair . but i love them
Idc what ppl think every model of peterbilt is the best peterbilt best in class love my 579 ultraloft with x15 cummins in it
Not even a mention of the 389. Claims the 579 as the Flagship. I think Peterbilt upper management has become confused.
I heard Pete wants to get rid of the square body 😲
nice truck

That is really nice to know. You are part of history!

Handsome vehicles.
