This was such a fun soap to make and I really think I am going to be making many more batches - I may still tweak the recipe though, even with the stick blending this time was too much I still think it is moving too quickly. I will be dropping sugar from future batches that have goat milk in them as well as this is probably overkill on the sugar front (goat milk naturally has sugar in it)
Store your lard in a bucket or container with hard side. Lard has a tendency to stay to stay softer. It will smell slightly ham or bacon. It does go away.❤ this recipe.
Thanks! I appreciate that tip! I just emptied a shea butter bucket - I kept it just in case I needed a storage container - now I know exactly what to put in it 😀😊
I like the suggestions of Farm Fresh and Farm to Soap. The only thing I can think of is Farmhouse Favorites. Shonna at Nezumi Soap made a bar with corn silk. You should try that next!
oh that sounds interesting! (corn silk) def need to check out that video I like your names - I think I have landed on Farm Fresh 🤗💕 Merry Christmas Andi!
Farm fresh Tammy. It’s tallow season I guess. Rendered my tallow yesterday and all the orders this week were around everything tallow so I have to hurry up and make more. Will do the second run today, if possible, cause the TO DO list over here is growing. Love the swirls a lot! Thank you
yep Farm Fresh is certainly the most popular suggestion, I like it! I hear ya about that to do list! I was hoping to take a few weeks off but that is a no go - I'm already making my spring soaps LOL Thanks for watching Clivia - you are so sweet 💕
Beautiful!!! And I love the idea of it being in honor of our farmers! Definitely the name should reflect that 🥰 ‘Farm to Bath’ instead of Farm to Table?
I love you suggestion! thank you for that - it is between Farm Fresh and Farm to Bath (or soap... but that is limiting so bath is better) thank you so much for helping me! 💕
I’ve not had an issue with tallow accelerating my batter, but I soap at about 100°F so I don’t get false trace. Final product won’t have scent. And Soaper’s Choice has lard and tallow for CHEAP! I buy in the 30 lb. cubes.
100 is on the high side for me but I understand the false trace thing. I am having trouble coming up with why my soaps are tracing so fast lately. My liquid to hard oils are good, my properties are good (I think) I have it down to the fat choices, the temp, the stick blending and/or the sugar - I don't understand why I can't figure it out 😂😂😂
hey Chely, the problem is my goat milk is frozen solid in the 2 quart containers. I have to unfreeze the whole container to pour out what I need for each batch. but you are probably right about that is why my soap is yellow...I need to think about this. thank you for you help!💕🤗
Oooooooo this sounds amazing!! It came out really pretty, too! Thanks for helping me get over the whole animal fat thing. My brain is so weird sometimes. 😅😅 Awesome job, as always, Tammy!!
haha Nora! I'm glad you got over it too! I think your last soap may have been a tallow soap??? let me go look...nope, next month is tallow and lard together (shhh - it is a secret haha)😊
i use tallow, lard, coconut oil, castor oil, shea butter and GM. its been my go to base recipe for months. i use same recipe for irish sea moss gel unscented soap, i just replace GM with sea moss. no smell and beautiful white.
I had to read that twice - so your only liquid oil is castor???? It doesn't trace super fast on you?? I am so intrigued by this idea 🤔😃 I love that you swap the goat milk for the sea moss gel - so smart! I still want to make more sea moss soaps too!💕
@@relevant.c5411 I have never, ever made a soap without a good amount of liquid oils - I think it terrifies me LOL - now I want to try it (especially with the price of olive oil right now😳)
sugars speed trace. the more u use the quicker it gets thicker. even just adding GM, those sugars will increase trace. i like whatever is cheaper to produce best....provided the change in ingredients appears to make little difference in the end.....keep it inexpensive :)
I think it is more habit than anything to add sugar whether I use goat milk or not.... I agree with the inexpensive part - I'm trying to talk myself is processing more tallow myself in a couple of months when we get another 1/2 cow (that 1/4 lasted no time LOL)
if your still looking for a name for this soap you how about savon fermier which means farmer soap in french. Lovely soap Tammy i just love your enthusiasm. I hope your having a wonderful day Love and Light Sarah E, I, E, I, O :)
I do really like using the 50/50 solution. It makes the whole getting the soap ready so much easier. It doesn't cost any more than not doing the 50/50 other than I have been trialing making it with ice so that may be a bit more expensive. I would recommend just making enough for 2-3 soaps and give it a try to see if it will work for you. The ONLY thing I can say is my soaps are tracing so much quicker than before, I don't see how the 50/50 would make that happen but it does make me wonder...I'm still working on figuring it out.
I like them Chely! Several people of suggested Farm Fresh, so far that is my favorite - along with Farm to Soap, it is a fun play on the farm to table line. Thank you! 💕

Hey Tammy!! A beautiful soap❤
Farm Fresh, At The Farm, Farm Country, Country Fresh. I'm not good with coming up with names lol. Enjoyed the video😊
I like the Farm Fresh one Becky! Thank you for watching 💕
This is a fantastic recipe! I personally love it. I have done a tallow, lard, castor, and goat milk.
YAY for like minded soap makers!!!! 😍
@@WalnutCreekBathBoutique I didn’t use coconut oil though… of course. 😂
@MsAubrey LOL - well of course!!!

@ I like Farm Fresh, too…either way you could turn it into a whole line of soaps and other products too!

I always use the microwave to melt my oils when I make my soap.
Tammy if you slowly melt your goat milk while frozen with your lye water and keep it cool it won't burn as much and be less yellow.

homestead soap
oh I like that one! But I am afraid people will think I actually homestead 😂😂😂 - 30 years ago I would have been all in haha

Oh thank you for your kind words! I really like your suggestion, I will add it to my list of possibles 😃💕
Tammy-I see you’re using a 50/50 solution. What do you like about it? Does it cost more in the long run but worth it to you? I’m on the fence.

Morning Tammy!
good night Aubrey! 😘
Hey Tammy! What about Farmhouse Collection or Farm Fresh Collection? Just don’t call it FAT Farm😂
bahahaha - Tammy! You cracked me up 😂😂😂
I call mine farm fresh. How about country pastures or country side or granny's porch.
