    Team,
I filmed this Tracking video over a year ago. Seaux Larreau is an old SF buddy of mine. Seaux is a GREAT tracking instructor. However, he sucks at filming. It took me a year to just get him to film a couple needed "b-roll" shots for this video. I normally would have just pitched the video, and re-filmed the whole thing at a later date. Again, normally I would have. However, I believe that this subject and the material covered within this video, are so IMPORTANT that it was worth salvaging it.
I want that to sink in... I believe today's video is one of those rare gems of information that ALL of you will be able to benefit from. Most videos are just entertainment. Some videos are informative, but you still need to go get professional instruction. However, this video covers this basics of tracking well enough that you can get out and start tracking on your own. You will get better ONLY by practicing.

Tracking is one of the coolest skills to learn because it translates to so many other things.
It undoubtedly makes you a better woodsman. It makes you more observant, inherently quieter as you move through the woods, you learn about optimal terrain to walk on, it's free and gives you a reason to get out into the wilderness.
As a side note I think one of the best ways to learn mantracking is to also learn animal tracking. If you can track some of the most nimble creatures of the forest you can certainly track joe schmo whose crushing everything in his path with a hard sole boot.

How can you hate Seaux? He is not only a Icon like you said Karl.. Seaux is a big Teddy Bear who years of great stories full of laughs.. Not to add he is crazier then I am 😁.. And this is extremely rare to find others who are crazier then I am 😊.. So of course I'm going to love this nut job 🇺🇸

Selous Scouts were an outstanding group. Learned about them, back in my Boy Scout days in the late 80s and early 90s. Good times!
Best trackers I know of are the Native American Shadow Wolves, who work with ICE down along border etc.
My step dad always came to me, to help him track his deer some times. I never lost a trail yet, thanks to skills learned from a Shadow Wolf. 🐺

Talk about a Wealth of Experience & Knowledge Karl. Because even I learnt something new from this, because I keep my Glass as Empty as much as possible, when learning? Because what I learnt and know about Tracking is Seaux!! Is that the Body has what they Call a level of Gravity & Buoyancy, because everybody is different. So you can learn alot from the Expression of a Foot print. E.g. The person may have a limp, bad knees, sore calf's, a bad back? the way the person or persons, do shift their weight from side to side, because of how much the Human body is made up of so much Water?! There's so much that comes into play here? It's not funny? I'm taking a hard guess that Seaux knows what I'm getting at? On the person who you might be going out too Search for?

Saw the second video first. Seaux Larreau definitely cuts through the BS. It's also nice to see him throwing some props to those who came before like Ab Taylor. That didn't used to be the case. I at think at the 6-minute mark a more accurate statement would be " sign" is the evidence of a person or animal passing. Tracking really boils down to two questions. One, is there a change in the environment? Two, did the person or animal I am looking for cause the change? The change being " sign" which can be anything really. That's it. A person's ability to correctly interpret sign is going to be based off of their experience and the ability to keep an open mind.
