I had one in 1982, i was 19, got chased by the cops on it for over an hour, got caught eventually when they set up road block, i had no insurance, got the book thrown at me but it was a great chase ! im 57 now and buying another DT 175 tomorrow in great condition same as the one in this video. 37 years later im too old to be be chased by cops and i will have insurance. Looking forward to nostalgic rides.
Gravesend Bklyn, Same Scenario Buddy! Early 70's.. We All wud SPLIT UP If they Gave chase! Verry Fond memories. Im 64 Now & it STILL Makes me Smile! At the Sound & Smell of Two Stroke RUSH! God Bless..
i'd forgotten how good they looked standard, they were however built for small people and needed more seat height imo. but i had quite a love affair with mine first riding it at 16, when i was brave then registering it as 123 cc so i could ride it at 17 with L plates . i had stripped off the indicators, replaced front and rear mudguards, renthal bars, added an extension to mono shock plus fork extensions. had the barrel ported , boysen reed valves and a 32 mm carburettor., had a hand built expansion chamber made by a go-kart tuner. went through 4 pistons before finally getting the jetting right. removed oil pump stripped off all wiring and had it rewired with the most basic loom (this required running 12 volt bulbs at rear as 6 volt kept blowing). sprayed yellow with blue frame , and acquired a total of 23 points on my driving licence ...good days lol
I need some help from the Yam experts out there. I had one of these in the early eighties and I am sure it had an electric start but I can't find anything about that bike on the net. Does my memory play tricks on me and my bike was just a kick-start version?
same bike i owned from new in 1986 very last of that type but i dont remember the fork gators ? had mine for 2 months then some arse nicked it never saw it again
They are dogs, i got a 78 dt and a 79 dt which i turned into a mx 175 ,tank fenders knobbies stuff like that. Took all gauges lights for spare parts, but... they are torque monsters in the woods.

I had an x reg one back in 83 ....Great powerband .Went everywhere on it .Your bike is the best one I've ever seen in my life man.
I just bought one! Going to pick it up on Saturday. It’s not in mint condition but it runs. I have never owned a bike haha but I’m so excited!
I just saw one on Craigslist and I’m checking it out tomorrow!
Great bikes, I have a 175 and a 250. Easy to ride. 175 is better in my view.

These bikes don't have any guts. The ride was a joke compared to dtr
@Pete is never wrong weak disgraceful engines. My little pike bike has more power

They were built to run long without rebuild. My first bike was DT125 with 20k miles at purchase and ran like a champ.
