The banks arguments of closing bricks and mortar shops to save money due to costs is bollocks... The cash less move means that £50 paid for a service ends up being 1% to the bank, visa or MasterCard etc... it's a multi billion pound earner... But no one is really pointing this out at the higher levels. They have more profits now than ever and it's disgusting
Nobody seems to talk about the fact that the starting rate for tax on savings is actually £5000 if you have a low income. I only work part time so I fully use the £5000 allowance.
There's only one MPC meeting left this year (November), so unlikely they will cut by 0.5%. I also do not think they will cut in November, the consensus is not going to shift from 1 person to 5, especially not given that data will show inflation ticking up due to the energy price cap rise.
I was surprised that 'Fiscal Drag' was not even mentioned! I'm a pensioner with just a small pension and find I can 'earn' about £6000 in interest before paying on it. Shouldn't this have been mentioned? Not everyone is married, young, having salaries and tiny Allowances.

Taxing savings (outside of ISA's and Pensions) is a punishment for prudent lifestyles
So true

Paying interest on savings for most people is virtually voluntary for most working people with tax free accounts and access to pensions.
That man speaks a lot but says nothing. Please don’t invite him again, it’s a time waster.
