Paying yourself first (I heard about this earlier this year) is the reason we didn’t go into debt recently with an unexpected huge dental bill. Because we moved money to a savings account on pay day and didn’t accidentally spend it.

I keep all my spending in an easy access with the same bank I spend with and then transfer across as needed. Savings is transferred on pay day.
