  • In today's video we repot and trim a shohin trident maple. Jim Doyle provides some beginner tips on repotting and branch trimming. This is a great video for any one starting this hobby.

      Thanks!! The cut paste and putty is kiyonal cut paste/putty. You can find it on Amazon.

    I would have removed that lower branch too, it may have caused some unwanted reverse tapper. Nice start to that Maple, look forward to seeing it in future videos.

    should have kept the lower branches as sacrifice branches to increase the flare at the bottom of the trunk.

      I thought the same as well. After removing the branch, I think it looks good. I was planning on keeping it shohin size and Tridents grow fast, so it will thicken up with time.
