Hi Jeni! Oh yes, love just plain soda crackers, you can add so many things on them. When we where kids and my mama would make crackers, we pretended we had little mini sandwiches, lol. Thanks for the memories and sharing. Have a blessed night!
I'm making whole wheat crackers today. We love the stor bought wheat thin crackers but they have gooten so expensive & also hard to find in the stores now. Thanks for sharing. Love the channel name change but also like your sewing tips & crafts.
My husband told me there is a cracker shortage. I couldn't believe it! And here you are showing us how to get through this cracker shortage! We are in Florida and you are clear across the country in Arizona . Both experiencing the same thing!
As we used to say You Rock. Thank You for sharing this. I am so glad my sister sent this to me. I watched this video and immediately subscribed.! I get so tired of to make our recipe you get a PKG of this and that mix. Thanks again.
Way back about 40 yrs ago I saw a recipe for crackers. Had to try it, The recipe had more then you put in. Wellll let me tell you. The hubbie said that would make good to throw up in the air and have target practice, How we laughed. Then digging into my grama recipes a couple years back I found one that is just like yours only calling for sweet milk. They came out great so now I am anxious to try with the buttermilk
Wrt the thinness of soda crackers: Lori, at Whippoorwill Holler suggested using a pasta machine thingy and I had to lay down. What a way to make thin crackers
I watched Lori at whippoorwill holler make these. Her recipe was slightly different. I knew you could make soda crackers but I didn't know exactly how now I do and since you're both good Cooks I guess I'll just try them both and see which one I like best or works best for me one way or the other. Thanks for showing me how you do it.
This is wonderful Jeni! We for sure have a cracker shortage in our area (nw Oregon) …. I’m stocked up on lots of flour…. And I just learned how to make cultured buttermilk from scratch… so I’ve made a bit to much (I was so excited to make it 🤪🤷🏻♀️)…. So I’m ready!! Thank you! As always, I appreciate you 💕❤️🙏
Could you lightly spritz the crackers before adding the salt? Seems like it would work. Thanks for the vid. I'm going to look for your herbed cracker recipe. Be healthy, stay safe and many blessings, Morgan
Like you, I haven't made these in years. Luckily there doesn't seem to be a cracker shortage where I am but it is still good to remember how to do this. Plus I also make gluten free saltines for my daughter around the holidays so she can enjoy dips at the holiday table too.
Very timely. There's been (still is) a shortage of saltine crackers for weeks in our area. Once in a while, there may be a couple of boxes. Affecting all types and all brands. Makes me wonder if there are only a few bakeries making them for most chain store brands??? Different boxes with the same crackers in all of them. ?? Thanks for sharing. I want saltines with vegetable soups, stewed oysters, potato salad and more.
Hi Jenni I love your cracker recipes they're so delicious better than the stores I'm so looking forward to making this one I was wondering if I can use milk and vinegar instead of buttermilk in this recipe I'm having a hard time finding buttermilk in the stores thanks Jenni 👍🤔
@@patriciahammett4197 thank you Patricia I did think about that I've never used it before but I'll give it a try thank you Patricia have a wonderful day.
Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna try these. I've wanted a recipe for crackers. I wonder could you add shredded cheddar cheese in the mix and make them cheese crackers? I love all your video's
Yw! I would not put cheese in these. These are plain soda crackers and the crackers won't turn out right. Just use a cheese cracker recipe. Here is a link to mine. 😊 ua-cam.com/video/pGOUbAHJFGg/v-deo.html
Thanks Jeni for sharing this recipe, I've made a commitment to start making All of our bread items and this is perfect. Did you have to add anymore buttermilk off camera?🙏🙏 Kendra
No, I added a little extra on camera and I adjusted the recipe on the printed version to half a cup. Hat still makes a stiff dough but it comes together more easily, 😊
I had trouble finding saltines when I was shopping last week! This is great, will you be doing anything with flavored cracker in the future? I like crackers with herbs but I don’t think this recipe would work…I don’t know. What do you think? ♥️👍🙏🇺🇸🤓
That looks very easy compared to what I was thinking would have to go into making crackers. Can't wait to try this recipe out. Do you happened to know a good recipe for buttery crackers similar to Ritz? I have had the hardest time finding them. Thanks Ms Jeni
How long do you think these would store because I am also thinking about making homemade cheese and crackers I know I said I was going to do that I just got lazy and I was thinking to get them as thin as possible I was thinking about the that pasta roller I think that might work too for this or do you think that is a waste of money
Yes, a plain soda cracker, finally. I don't know how many recipes I've looked at; most don't even use baking soda. I mean isn't that why they are ''soda" crackers?

This is a definite keeper recipe. Question, I have powdered buttermilk. Can I use this and should I cut back on the amount of liquid? Thanks
You can absolutely use your powdered buttermilk! Use the same amount of liquid. 😊
