Oregon OC Will Stein should ABSOLUTELY have the confidence of Oregon fans after 16-point effort

I think it should be acknowledged that the red zone INT happened because Lowe, a less experienced WR, didn't know to sit in the hole, but rather continued in the pattern, thus the pass ended up behind him. Not Dillon's fault.

I want more “50/50” shots downfield to Evan Stewart. They are more like 80/20 shots.

Noah Whittington also ran a wheel route and was wide open, but Gabriel didn't scan the field to see him.

If any criticism can be given to Stine it would be solely in his red zone play calling and in the third quarter. I personally believe he made things more difficult by not running James in the red zone in the first quarter. We have seen that when he gets inside the 10 yard line and he passes, they have trouble converting. He should have just ran the ball several times to Connelly's' side and the game could have been 17-6 at half. Also, I don't know why they don't run bootleg plays to the wide side of the field when they get that close. Gabriel has the speed to beat defenders to the pilon. Just go trips to the short side, fake like you are going to run to the short side with your back and bootleg the QB to the wide side of the field. Its usually a foot race to the corner between the QB and 1 defender. I used to run that myself when I played QB and its a hard play to stop. If you add one receiver who motions from the wide side to the short side, you make it even harder for the defense to react in time to the QB. Stine is doing great. I just wish he comes up with better red zone plays. They could have blown out Ohio State if they convert inside the 10. Its been a problem all year.

Agree he tries to get to cute in the red zone jam a tight pass into coverage, INT X4 this season. I miss Dillingham

Agree red zone play calling and execution is an issue, has been all year. Agree with the point on lack of commitment to the run game. However, I think that extends beyond the redzone. This is where Stein gets too cute. Ducks went heavy pass early against Wisconsin and would have been better to be more balanced or lean toward heavy run. D-line run defense for Wiscy was the weak spot yet we didn’t lean into that until late in 4th quarter.
This isn’t about the point Spencer made about creative play calling. It’s more about the confidence to lean on your elite talent. As you said, run James behind Conerly and good things will happen.

I have confidence he will waste multiple plays a game by throwing to the sidelines and then running it up the middle only to leave a 3rd and long to try to overcome.

I don’t think anyone who watched the last ten games is worried about our offensive coordinator. The only thing I’m worried about is his head coach offers in the off season.

They do run up the middle for 1-2 yards A LOT. If blocking is the problem up the middle than run outside more often.

But you see...coaches are obsessed with "keeping them honest" even if it means putting the team in poor 3rd and long situations a ton.

Sure want to beat the Huskies but think I would save those unseen plays for the B1G Championship or later

His last three games were pathetic, required Lanning to resort to Trick Plays... biggest issue limited use of talented Tight Ends from earlier games, very few touches allows the defense to stop the run with LBs not worried about TE passes. Blazer Duck is right, stop defending Stein.

Eight weeks straight with no bye and one of the eight is a short week will wear you down.

And the last two opponents had the bye, with a week off, so 2 weeks to prepare. At least it's fair next game, both squads have a bye.
