I have the black tank 27 gallon compressor from harbor freight. The 150 psi one , it's not oil less, it's 29 gallons and I have it hooked to a 80 gallon old shop tank to expand the air volume, I never had a problem with it filling up , just takes like 24 mins to fill up , after 6 years it's still going strong , you think this would fill up an extra 80 gallons with no issues?
I honestly don’t know. I am interested to see how this holds up long term compared to the older air compressors that require more maintenance and oil added. It will be interesting to see if the convenience of this unit doesn’t impact its life span. I guess time will tell.
@ChristopherJones16 I have the 29 gallon tank with the motor on it , then ran a line to the 80 gallon in and it has a out that I use for my attachments
Curious to know which model number yours is? I bought mine in March of 2023 and I only had one issue where the brass hose fitting leading from the compressor was leaking to where it fastened onto the tank itself. No matter what I tried to get it to seal, it would still slowly leak down day after day. I exchanged it within the 90-day warranty period and this has worked just fine since. The old one was #57254 and this one now is #56403. I only noticed very slightly cosmetic differences between the two, so I don't know if the other company making it had some issues with them, or if the assembler boogered up the threads while putting it together. But I did also notice that the last one sounded slightly louder, as the compressor produced a different noise when it was filling. So no leaking and a little quieter!
I just purchased the same unit. I’m confused on how to set up an air supply line with a moisture separator and quick connect lines without losing the original quick connects on the unit? I hope that makes sense. You mentioned you would be doing it. Was wondering if you could show how it’s done.
I have that same compressor in the warehouse at work, bought it about 4 years ago. Recently it stopped building pressure past about 150psi. It just continues to run and run. I'm suspecting a leak near the regulator switch, or the switch is plugged with wet dirt (aka mud) from not draining the compressor often enough. I need to pull it apart this week and see what's going on.
Thanks for watching, I've burned through 2 kobalts so far so I'm interested in seeing how this one holds up. To be honest though I wasn't the best at keeping up with cleaning the filter on the kobalt so those could have been because of me.
So I just bought this. It says to also connect a regular valve, an in-line shut off valve and a 1/4 “ NPT air hose to a quick coupler. I bought an EARTHQUAKE XT 3/8” NPT THREAD 50 ft 300psi premium air hose ( also from harbor freight) before I bought the air compressor. It would be great to see a video of where and how to add these components to a suitable hose and the setting it up to the air gun. I am just today running the 30 min break in stage. But this is a faff as I just want to get to spraying my kitchen cabinet doors with my Huskey spray gun but all this videoing and checking the additional … add a bras coupler a 1/4 NPT when I have a 3/8 hose do I need a 3/8 NPT or a different 1/4 hose .. I actually have a pressure gauge on my paint sprayer .. Well at least Ive switched it in and I’m running the 30 min check … heads up … it’s noisy in my opinion .. I have a 3 gallon porter-cable pancake compressor for power tools and this is definitely as loud .. hopefully it won’t need to fill up too often and frighten the living daylights out of me every time ! Have blessed veterans weekend y’all .. land of the free because of the brave !!!
When I go to run some permanent lines I will be adding the regulator and other components to the system. I'll try and shoot a video for that and add the link to the description. As for the unit running, I just did a quick build of some floating shelves and ran my pin nailer with it. The whole build, the compressor never kicked on! It was so nice not hearing that thing constantly running and scaring the crap out of me lol.
Not exactly sure, was reading the instructions and was surprised to see this as well and wondered how many people skip this like I would have done if not for skimming the manual first. I’m wondering if it has something to do with its manufacturing process and clearing out the tank of debris 🤷♂️.
After watching some other videos where they didn't do this and watching your video it makes a lot of sense. Times it does pay to read the instructions. Great job!!!
I opted not to get the extended warranty, but the unit is running just as well as they day I purchased it. We are a small shop and what we run doesn't even come close to pushing this thing to its limits though, so our experience would be much different from those that run mainly pneumatic tools.
Thx I’m obsessed with it
It has been a great addition in the shop
Only one Like so far?!?! COME ON GUYS! Great video! I’m very jealous of your new compressor 😡
I'll let you use it when your in the shop next time lol
Its a usefull video so yeah.. Now if we can get him into some leggings and a tanktop, i bet he can get a ton of likes.!!

So you have two tanks that fill up then? Or did you just pop the motor onto the bigger tank and use only the 80 gal tank?

Excellent. Wish I could see how you hooked it up.
Still like any problems with this compressor?

If and when I get that setup done, I'll try and get a video out on it.

Looking to buy a compressor and been looking at this 1 and kobalt. Thanks

Why the 30 minute break in period with the valve open? What exactly does that do? Why have the valve open?
Not exactly sure, was reading the instructions and was surprised to see this as well and wondered how many people skip this like I would have done if not for skimming the manual first. I’m wondering if it has something to do with its manufacturing process and clearing out the tank of debris 🤷♂️.
The 30 minute break in is done to break in the pumps piston rings.
Helps set the seals

How's the unit holding up? Did you buy extended warranty?

How’s the compressor holding up since you got it, have you had any problems with it at all . Thank you
will this run a palm sander???
Although I have not yet run mine on this yet, it does state that it can handle sanding and surface prep. This is rated for “intermittent” use though.
