EZScape Will the next speedrun be Jonas Brothers on the DS, milking it for as many “Glad Jonas” puns as you can?
Feel like the handcam should be mandatory. Especially with such a big bounty - they're exciting but will make cheaters crawl out.
It does have to be on a livestream too, so to make it believable they would have to also cheat many runs that WOULDN'T win and have them play back to back alongside the real one.
JS, there's built in "cheater protection" because realistically only about 15 people are capable of getting a 1:38 (at least one of the next 5 1:38s) and that's being generous to a few runners lol. If someone else randomly was like "oh wow I just suddenly came into the scene and I got a 1:38" it would be checked soooooooooooo vigorously. Someone running the contest would obviously never say something like this but people who follow the game know it's true

For people who don’t follow the game I truly believe the optimisation of this run, and the breadth of in game mechanical knowledge associated with a long run like this can be lost on people.
It would be truly comparable to some unknown dude 1v1ing LeBron and actually sinking buckets. Theoretically possible but the chances ?
That being said those people who are actually in the race have now got a very good reason to pull a shady, albeit I think quite unlikely.
@@GarFierield The thing is, checking people vigurously wastes time of a lot of people which could have been prevented by simply demanding a mandatory handcam.
@@SoldierOfTwilight even if the cheater has one they're still going to be rigorously checked because it's something the community prefers to do when people come out of no where, not just for the bounty, but for having times on the leaderboard. There's runners who have done 1000s of attempts for this category who don't even have a 1:38 sum of best, it's not a time just anyone can casually get
Just unreal to see how the community comes together to create such a big Speedrun Bounty, proud of us
2 people and a legitimate company came together to create the large bounty...the community didnt come together to "create" a single thing
@@AS34N That's an overly negative view - it is to an extent the community.
This community had already proven that it will spend money in the name of speedrunning, and it's been proven that they support competition, so I am 100% certain that the $4k would have come together either way.
Heck, I've thought about donating $20 or so myself at the end of 2019, and I'm by far not the only one...
unreal to see a community come together to give money to only like 3 speedrunners.

@@AS34N but you forget that the main reason that made this competition possible in the first place it's because of the strong speedrunning community, without it, there wouldn't even be a competition like that one... therefore, yes, what Adrian said is correct, the community came together and created (perhaps indirectly) this speedrun bounty! :)

Maybe this is the beginning of professional speedrun competitions. 5 years from now they will be sitting in full halls speedrunning against each other for a huge prize money and we will be thinking back on how it all started with this video.

There should be a bounty on Ninja Gaiden NES since that is pretty hard to beat thus people stay away from it. Plus gap between wr and no 2 is like 7 seconds which is an extremely large gap.

Editors are important, very important, but so is structure and information gathering. Without a video concept, talking and footage/pictures there would be nothing to edit. The best channels are 2 person teams or larger. Team work is dream work

If you're interested in other games, try going to www.speedrun.com/ and searching for the game you want to play. Usually there will be links to guides/resources/discord on the page for the game.
I'm a DKR speedrunner, currently holding 3 WRs and a bunch of national records. I'm pretty familiar with the tricks of SM64, but I've never run 120 star or a speedrun of the game. I start tonight because $5000 is worth like 3597 packs of skittles.
