Hey everyone, I hope you all enjoyed the video! As a reminder, EZScape has delegated me to do Top 10s for his channel, however he will have TWO of them coming up in the month of December, so stay tuned for them! :) Also if you're interested in more speedrunning related content, I have started to post videos on my channel if you would like to check them out! More to come!
I've seen a couple of speed runners do it actually. idk if they just have multiple people to talk about this stuff on their channels that's named after them or what
Call me crazy, but I think most runners enjoy it. Probably different if they are on PB pace, but it gives them a highlight. Definitely not the worst way a run can end.
I actually have personal experience with this. I was 10 seconds in my American Dad speedrun on GameCube and I failed the newspaper skip glitch and ended up under the map. I had to restart completely and lost all that time for nothing. Needless to say I quit speed running for good after that!
I laughed so hard when the ghost instantly killed him. If you even TAP something moving slow in Halo 1, your done. It's like getting smashed by a semi.
3:30 Explanation for his death: The last snake block's hitbox must have smushed him, by having his hitbox between both the game must have thought he was crushed between two walls and therefore died.
*Unexpected glitch you forgot: In the game called American Dad, a speed runner (who’s identity I cannot find anywhere) encountered a glitch that ruined his whole run. Pretty much, he couldn’t get out of bed and was stuck on that part of the intro for awhile before he had to eventually restart the game and ruining his run.*
There should be a speed running rule where if you encounter a run-ruining bug and have to go a bit back in progress, you have the right to rewind the stopwatch back to the time when you first arrived at that previous part Example: you are playing a game and at the start of lvl 4, the time was at 30.5 minutes, then at 33.5 minutes a glitch happened and you had to restart the game and go back to the start of lvl 4,then you have the right to return the time to 30.5 minutes
@@mitth_raw_nuruodo are you serious? Or just that brain dead lol it would basically turn everything into a segmented TAS, "I did the hard part now i gotta do another hard part, but if i do the first hard part perfect i can die, get to the second hard part and try again until i do that part perfect..."over and over, doing every segment optimally. Long story short, it turns into a TAS the tool assistant being the video you keep pausing, rewinding and recording until you get it perfect....that aint a speedrun. That a ridiculously slow, snail-pace muck run.

I got the tick-toc clock upwards glitch while playing SM64 multiplayer with a friend a few years ago, he was streaming to twitch we where doing all stars run. we had no idea what had happened. We thought it was a glitch in the multiplayer mod.
I can't believe American Dad wasn't mentioned in this video. It's got some of the most well known speedrunning glitches ever, most notably the flag skip glitch.
The jak dark glitch happened to me when I was a kid and scared the shit out of me. It happened in the very first town. What’s interesting is that looking through the goggles fixed it.
Looking through the goggles fixed the glitch? Man I guess that glitch can sometimes let you know how it feels to be a person who actually needs glasses to see things.
I actually remember a glitch my older brother experienced when playing Ocarina of Time on the GameCube, when I was in like preschool, and when he slashed a pot in the Water Temple, the game glitched out and basically crashed, showing the save icon glitching on the screen, while the room he was in was still showing, instead of a black void. We called it “The Pot of Death”. Don’t know if anyone else found it or not.
Let me tell y’all an unexplainable glitch that occurred in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. My older sister was playing Sticker Star, and in a desert level(I don’t know which one),and when she went inside a place with many rooms, she did a frame perfect jump by jumping right below a romp block, and falling right when the romp extended. Mario then landed a little off the edge of the platform. He suddenly fell through the ground as the camera closed up on him, and he fell into an endless pit. Some stacked pink and green squares appeared to the left of the screen. After that, the glitch became an instant game over. It never happened again, no matter the circumstance.
I love the fact that you know your audience well enough to SHOW the Clint Stevens clip after talking about it. I'm also surprised the Spyro vram corruption glitch didn't make the cut. That's one of the whackier glitches I've ever seen.
"The ghost was moving at a much slower pace than what should be able to kill you" Oh how little you know LOL. Honestly that CE clip is very expected lmao
There's a few things in Mario kart 7 that could fit here. There's an unexplained run where the lap didn't count, and countless occasions where the character is randomly counted out of bounds
5:58 That "Unsolved" glitch used to happen to me in a lot of super mario world games, It worked like this in the ones I remember : Killing something by holding a shell and running into it especially something in the air like a flying Goomba while running and jumping. And not letting go of Y after your shell is gone/all the buttons you were holding. creates some kind of invisable collision box. somewhere around where your carried shell hit the mob you killed in the air, and it follows you for up to one extra hit of something, it can even sometimes kill other Goombas. it's pretty noticable if you run all willy nilly through a stage haphazardly that has lots of shells and goombas.
For the snake blocks glitch, my explanation would be that he got to them when they were exactly at two "squares", to speak so, and he got into exactly the subpixel between them, so the game thought he was crushed by them. It'd be a glitch similar to walljumping in the original Super Mario Bros, only here because the snake blocks move, it would need to happen pixel (hit exactly the pixel or subpixel "between" the block) and frame (hit between the second and third to last block when the last and second to last block occupy exactly a screen square each and are at the point where non-moving blocks could be) perfect. And then he needs to slide down exactly one block while the other block moves exactly one block, so he is at the subpixel at the end of that block when that block reached that square, so he slid down one block in the time it takes the very last block to move exactly one block to the left. I hope you understand what I mean. Imagine the blocks are like this: 3 2 1 (with 3 above 2 and 1 right of two). Now he hits the subpixel between 3 and 2 right when 1 is exactly over a square. Then he slides down 2 while 1 exactly goes 1 square to the left, so he is at the subpixel between 2 and 1 when 1 starts going up. Because he hit the subpixel between 3 and 2, the game thinks he is not at a snake, so 1 now going up crushes him.
*Possible explanation for snake blocks at **3:16* When sliding down the player model reached the "seam" of the lowest previously unmoving block (block A) exactly at the frame that the "folding in" block coming from the right (block B) reached the edge of where block A just then started to move, while the player was still holding "right" in order to keep sliding. The death may have resulted from this constellation: The first block moves up one pixel, while the hitbox of block B is still one line of pixels away from its final position, resulting in a 1 pixel gap on the bottom left of the intersection of block A and B into which the top-right corner of the player's hitbox moves due to "right" being pressed. On the beginning of the next frame block B moves 1 pixel to the left before gravity is able to move the player 1 pixel down so the hitboxes of block B and the player intersect, which results in this rare death.
3:15 I've been killed very similarly by "snake blocks" in Sonic 2 when they normally are only capable of causing damage when impacting Sonic against the wall in Chemical Plant Zone. Only happened once and this was probably back in 1998ish. I never forgot.
My favorite part of speed running is how its the one “sport” where competition arent trying to mess up the other team but to learn from them and support them to get a higher time then you can do
If I had to take a guess as to why the Critical Wiggle is intentional, perhaps the devs had wanted to somewhat implement the disorientation one would likely feel when near death?
