- I decided to work on this full cover of the Animated Short: A Flash, since some were interested in it after my last Honkai Star Rail medley ( • Honkai Star Rail Epic ... ). I also figured it'd be educational, since I'd be aiming for a different kind of sound for a substantial portion of the track compared to my previous tracks. I still consider it"epic", just in a more romantic/emotive way. I did think that it'd be relatively easy to cover compared to the medleys I'd made previously... but in the end I realized that was extremely off the mark, and it ended up taking a pretty long time.
Fun facts:
I didn't want to stray too far from the original, in the hopes that many would listen to it as a no-dialogue/instrumental proxy for the original (at least until the official OST releases).
Tried out some new instruments in this cover, in particular featuring solo violin and cello (and also the erhu as before).
Happy with how the climax (at 2:37) turned out, as I drew inspiration from the so-called "Sawano Drop" technique, with epic vocals.
Extended the piano only section at the end to fill in the dialogue-related gaps in the original. Even though I play piano, I preferred to mouse click in the notes lol.

Thanks @ZenithAvila, appreciate seeing you back again! It felt like the track was just building up to that moment (in the original as well), so I wanted to do something special there. So glad my "Sawano Drop" attempt worked for you, hehe. It started out sounding not quite right 🤔 and then after days of minor changing here and there, it finally seemed like it was gonna be OK!

@@thejasonpai582 Hi. I'm not a profi so I can only say it from my own experience and observation. But I think your music, especially this cover is very didactic and narrative. The song seamlessly tells the story from the beginning to the end by itself (memorization -> joyfulness -> battlefield -> highlight -> sadness -> flashback, thoughfulness, etc). One doesn't have to watch the animation but can also approximately understand the tendency and feel the flow. I'm lack of english vocabulary but I hope you understand what I meant.

The Part Starting around 1:01 was really hard for me to Decipher with all the Loud SFX around that part yours is really well done in all aspects really good cover!

I heard other remake/reimagined version of A Flash... all of them nice, but yours is imo the best of all! I'm in love with the animated short and this cover is the closest one to the original... also, I really like how your customizations flows and fits so well with the track! Thanks for listening! The original A Flash appears to mainly use cello at this section. Though, if you meant from this cover of mine, then I swapped the cello for an erhu since I like how dramatic it sounds. :D
Kinda crazy that I had basically forgotten that the original used cello, since I'd become so used to my own version...
