[Chorus]
Now the court square's just a set of streets
That the people go round but they seldom think
About the little man that built this town
Before the big money shut them down
And killed the little man
Oh, the little man
Thank God for all the little men that built America
@RhodesYeeYee127 that's right bjt I'm a woman God bless you
Thank GAD for the knowledge to lead the 3 baddest MF I know 1:12 ME, MYSELF, &, 2:00 I
Speaks to a lot of people today doesn't it.
My family was the ones that pumped gas, wiped windows, checked tires, and under the hood. My daddy stayed after hours repairing cars so the people could make it home safely or wherever they were traveling. Even for those who were extremely poor, he repaired the vehicle for just the cost of the parts, and even sometimes, he didn't even charge them at all. He never forgot where he came from. A poor family. My daddy was the LITTLE MAN ❤
I was a 15 when they filmed some of this in my hometown of Jasper, Fl. My mom and stepdad are the ones setting by the gas pumps. Some of those empty stores in the video that I remember flourishing when I was a kid are still empty. The old man standing on the steps of the house waving was Mr. Harry T. Reid, our local undertaker and the house was the Jasper Hotel... it was just demolished about two months ago. Our poor little country town .... "God bless the Little Man"
They filmed some of it in my dads old stomping groumds of pavo georgia
wow. cool, thanks for sharing. ) God Bless the Little Man and Alan Jackson and his family.
@ Kelsey Tharp. I grew up just north of Jasper in Echols County. Used to go through Jasper all the time and drive down the old Baker's Mill Rd. It sucks to hear they demolished the old hotel....that thing was a landmark

Man, Alan Jackson can pen a song , one of the best songwriters ever.
Does he write ALL of his songs?
Does he write all of his things?
Jasmin Flower He does many but not all.
Joseph Eller He does write many of his songs but not all. This one he did.
Old hank sr is looking down with a smile on his face. Saying to his self boys this is real country! Alan hank would proud of you and George strait for still carrying on the tradition!
It's sad seeing what corporate America is doing to small town America.
❤️😉👍🙏 God Bless the small town southern man.
I grew up where Alan Jackson grew up, Newnan ,GA.. now it's grown up so much there. Live in West Virginia now, thankful for the little town I live in now. Life is slower and simpler here.
What a great song!!! Northern Michigan was invaded by flat landers after covid!!! Long life rural America and the U.S.A!!!
With everything going on in the world, simple songs like this remind me that everything is gonna be alright.
Agree.

I grew up in a little town and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Yes we came from "dirty Ole coal miners " but we came from decent hard workin men and women so I'll never be ashamed of where I came from.
Hello how are you doing, how long have you been a fan of mine
Hello ✋ Cindy how are you doing??
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG IT REMINDS ME OF CEDAR HILL,TN IT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1870 AND NOW WE HAVE A DOLLAR GENERAL THERE NOW.
the little man here in Dawson/Tulsa Oklahoma done took off from us way before i could understand seein as im only 19 but it sure is something hearing my dad talk about it sometimes. we got one hardware store left, just one. God Bless the Little Man.
how is life in Bartelsville It has been twenty years
@@michaelKuhn-if2zp couldn’t say too much but i imagine the same fate for bartlesville as much as anywhere else.. 😕
God Bless the Little Man and the Little Women who built this COUNTRY by providing for their families! The "South" holds my heart. As a 14 year old "runaway", (parents were dead) living and working off the streets, in the South many had Little to eat, but they'd always split their small portions to feed a stranger. I always looked for work on the farms and ranches. I loved the little towns. But the FBI and local cops kept me moving. From southern Illinois, they'd take me back for more abuse. The half relative just wanted the money! So I finally made the decision GO WEST YOUNG COWGIRL, GO WEST! But I LOVE YOUALS in the South!
I thank God i grew up during this time. We were taught about God , Respect , Disciline , and Accountability.......things you don't hear much of this day and age. 🇺🇲🙏🏼
"Wherever two are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
I remember when stores closed on Sunday, they didn’t sale beer, or gas! That’s because they went to church on Sunday. I looked up to people like that!
It was just a fact of life when I grew up, if ya needed milk, better get in Saturday!
You couldn't even buy bread, nothing open on Sunday! Had to get it all done on Saturday! The little man in small stores are forced out of business! Miss those days!
Well, you guys should visit Nagaland, a small state tucked away in North East India. More than 90% of the people are Baptist Christians converted by American missionaries. Here, all the stores remain closed on Sundays, not by force or any laws, but because we go to church.

This song describes my town perfectly. It used to be a small town but is growing extremely fast and is getting huge. It makes me sick to my stomach to see big corporations and other developments going in all around me and there's nothing I can do about it. R.I.P. Queen Creek, you will be missed

I heard this song today on a classic country radio station. The little girl running and sitting down from 1:46-1:54 was my first cousin. She sadly passed away in a car accident about 9 miles from where this was filmed in 2008. This is the first time I have watched this video since she left this earth because I couldn't handle the memories. However, seeing this video has brought back great memories of her and when the Little Man still stood tall. Thanks for a great song Alan. God Bless the Little Man and true country music.
Happened to be at that exact part in the video right when I started reading this comment.
Saddened to hear of the loss.
This video was from 1999
@@MrKdebolt He was referring to the accident. The accident was in 2008, ( I assume).
Sorry to hear of your loss Jeffrey. Little Man still can, just takes more fighting than ever before. Be well.

I live about a half hour outside of Abilene Texas in the country, and Abilene has grown into your normal city, but the other day i was driving through town and saw something i couldn't believe. A station that said "Full service", and there was this old guy outside pumping somebody's gas, and he popped the hood, checked stuff, put some air in the tire, etc while i was watching at a light.. i had to u-turn back around and stop in. i'm 26 so i wasn't around when this was the normal thing, but it sure made me happy to see somebody still running they'r own station, full service and all. i think i'm gonna go there every week now, to help support his little store. God bless the little man!
79lance hard to come by that. I'm from a little town called rice lake, Wisconsin. Sad to see it expanding so much into a city. Walmart and other big businesses taking over. Out of all the gas stations we have there's only one full service cenex station. Always go out of my way to get fuel there and shoot the shit with the guys working there and grab a glass bottle of coke for 99 cents
Thats awesome. They came and opened a bunch of mini wal marts in all the little surrounding small towns around my area of the state about a year ago, and maybe about half of them have closed already. I was really surprised to see people stick with the family owned shops. It may sound messed up, but it was so satisfying to me to see the big money hungry business eat it haha Most importantly, to see the people stand up to keep theyr town from turning into a ghost town. Rice Lake, if i'm through Wisconsin i'll remember that . Keep up the good work my friend
In my town, the local grocery store owner carries groceries out for anybody in need, and knows every regular on a first name business... the gas station down the road also has full service. God bless this town and those who continue things like this. Small towns are the best thing in the world. After living in a city through university, I've come to appreciate this stuff ever more.

79lance I'm from a small town called Marienville in northern Pennsylvania, I wish I could move back there. I SURE DO MISS THE PLACE 😢😢😢.
I'll never forget you Leonard! You are my hometown's hero!

Love this country music... Alan is awesome!
Having grown up in a little town like this (Reedsville Ohio) reminds me of my great uncle who owned a gas station there. He pumped your gas, washed your windshield, and put air in your tires if they were low. He and Dohrman Reed were the “little man” of my home town. When Walmart came to Athens, Reedsville along with neighboring communities like Coolville, dried up. May the memories of a more simple, better time live on in our memories.
Much respect for Alan for making this song. The fact that he had the heart to make this says alot. Thanks brother
im suprised people are still listening to this man considering how messed up this generation is

The little man made AMERICA
I was born and raised in the lands of tall concrete buildings and highway overpasses. Life was fast... Almost no time for childhood. When your world moves fast, you grow up fast. In 2019 i recollected and saud enough. Moved from the boston area to a quaint lil southern country town. I have never felt the sense of community like i do now. Every body ive met has been so caring neighborly giving and prideful. Wish i would have moved sooner
Seeing all of the rioting and destruction of Americas small businesses just tears me apart. We need to rewind about 60 years and get back to our roots
Amen!
Hope this song isn't cancelled next
I am from England, but saw some of the rioting and looting in Nashville on the news. Absolutely heart breaking :(
How about instead of going back, we keep moving forward. 60 years ago was Jim Crow laws. Which would make things worse. Instead of complaining about change, push for it. There is freedom in chaos. However, there is none to be found in order.
Funny how you worry about looting and dollars lost when the rest of us mourn actual human lives lost. But, hey! Priorities, right?
I remember jumping in this man's truck one morning a real conservative business owner from a small town, but he was listening to Alan Jackson. What a great guy his name was Dan.
Glory and honor to him who died and rose again and who lives and reigns eternally, my soul adores you Lord Jesus Christ ❤
That song rite there is pure Americana. If ever there was one. TY 😊 Alan.

Little country towns are the best. Locally owned restaurants and bars, grocery stores, mechanics who are trust worthy, and many more!
it happens wherever any large corporate chain sets up at. whether it be any type of store or even movie theaters. they think for some reason, that if they do what they have planned, that it will attract more business. there used to be 2 drive-in movie theaters that were owned by `the little man'. both of them were tore down and one now has a walk-in theater and where the other one was, is a small strip-mall. i have heard though,. that drive-in theaters are starting to be built again, and 4 of them were built in fla. just a few years back. as for where i live at, the `little man' is starting to re-emerge by which one could say, `popular demand' . not only that, back when the `little man' did own the business, the owner knew the man or woman, they could trust them and their word was their bond. even if the man or woman had money troubles. that there was just part of what made the country great, was the trust that one had for the other.
That's same thing that happened to me when I moved from myrtle beach sc in 83 then went back in 95 well it had sure changed. It had really grew and wasn't the same anymore. My friends were still there they hadn't changed much . But it was I that had changed praise the lord 🙏 🙌 I didn't stay the sane . I worked with Alabama band before they became famous. I was a can can girl. Now Jeff Cook has passed away one of the best guys you would ever want to meet well all of them are Randy, Teddy . R.I.P Jeff you sure will be missed. Things change don't they Alan. Lord keep your hands on this man . ❤️🙏👍🥳🥳❤️ happy birthday again man.
They don't make them like this nowadays ....Thank you Alan for real COUNTRY MUSIC

I work for the little man a small widowed women that relies on her her son she is 72 and dont know when she can retire. Since her husband passed the other son has big dreams of solar power. He collects money from the business but never sticks around to make a diffrence. It is hard I don't make much there but my heart is there. We are a metal fabrication shop we can do some amazing things. Had some big projects for Microsoft and the military just have a hard time keeping up with the bigger corporations that seems to want to drive us in the ground. But we have some amazing people that give it all they got. Just dreaming of the old days. Hope it better soon but 2020 has no guarantees.

It's been 9 months since my job of 29 years ended at Rocky Point Hardware which was in business for 48 years. We were "The Little Man".
It still hurts every day that we closed.
Little Man died when the Walmart, Kmart, CVC's, and Walgreens moved in. You could walk in to a Mom and Pop store and just give them your word that you would be back on a certain day to pay for your items and your word was gold. Now it takes a credit card or a debit card to but almost anything. Your word isn't anything to the Big Box stores. Greed and selfishness has taken over.
Very true!! the little man is long gone!!!
