Awesome job guys one quick question what is your square footage? Also, do you remember the name of the tape that you used at the base? OK well I have another question. Have you had any troubles with the diesel heater igniting have you had to clean it yet?
Thanks Thompson! It’s a 159 sqft bunkie. They now make larger ones and a version with a loft! The tape I used is here; amzn.to/3O7YVor I’ve not had to clean the diesel heater yet, but I suspect that is coming up in the spring! Only issue with it not starting was because the batter didn’t have enough voltage. This was after 4 nights use.
@ awesome I’ve looked at the Bunkys. I have a different one. It’s just shy 500 ft.². It will now be springtime before I get to build. I’m going to be setting a diesel heater up under my fifth wheel. Just trying to figure out the best way to do it thanks for the info.
Thank You good Video . build a extension out the front door for your coats hats boots to keep the heat In . Build two lofts 6 feet up place to keep water tanks . Build an outdoor shower by the kitchen window . You can pass the water wand thru the window , yea ? When can you come over and build ours ? lol 😂 You should review diesel heater too plus add the price with sale . We have friend that reviews everything they buy & advertisers products. When companies caught wind , they got more free stuff to sell with video brought to you by new free stuff .❤
Thanks for the feedback! Yes Im keen to build some sort of porch/entryway; last year the snow sloughed off the roof and caused a little trouble blocking the door. Thats going to be a spring job. I love the idea for the lofts and water - I hadn't considered that. I am planning to build a storage system up there so I should incorporate it. Good idea on the diesel heater review, I should do one on the mini stove too! Thanks for watching and have an amazing weekend! ♥️🛖
I love the tour.......the diesel heaters are great we have two of them in our boat......works awesome........How will that mini stove do in the dead of winter........have you tested that yet or will this be the first winter for it??.........I am guessing that you may need something larger for the minus 20 or 30 degree temps........great tour as we have only started following your channel recently and the update was informative Matt.....thanks....
@@codraven57 thanks for watching! Funny you should ask about the stove in winter, we’re at a mild -8C right now and the stove is keeping the Bunkie at 19C. Overnight it dropped to 9C without more wood.
@@mikecrawford9946 thanks for watching. We got it from Amazon. This is one of the 5-8kw heaters. I don't mean this as negativity and I'm certainly glad you've made it comfortable but I find it hard to imagine myself wanting to live in a cabin with such thin walls and no real insulation. I just figure it's worth the extra cost and materials to retain more heat. I know I would still rely on wood fire to heat but I might as well camp outside with a tarp or a nicer tent with a wood stove. Just my two cents. I know one day I will be building an A-Frame but I always like to see what other people are working with.
@@EntertainmentKorner I hear you. These cabin kits are marketed as ‘3 season’ cabins. With the extra roof and floor insulation we have added to ours, we’re comfortable at the moment. So far we’ve been at -8C/17F outside with the cabin maintaining 9C/47F unheated and 22C/71F with the stove. It’s not a long term solution but gives us somewhere to stay while we build our full size cabin.
@@MsAnon4223 yeah. We have an out house behind the Bunkie that currently has a cassette toilet. In the spring we’ll move to stage 2 and get a composting toilet and shower installed.
@@cindysegar1426 great question. We wanted a wood fireplace for the ambience and character as well as the actual heat source. The cabin itself is only 159 sqft, so even by the numbers the Cubic Mini stove is overpowered for the cabin. So we don’t need a bigger one. It would overcook the cabin (and be more $$ to buy). We also added the diesel heater because we’re a little remote. And having a backup heat source in the dead of winter is important. Thanks for watching and have an awesome week!

Instead of having the to buy diesel and get firewood, why not just get a bigger fireplace instead of having 2 different heat sources?
