    You’ll need the purifying tablets on the stretch between Monarch Pass and Spring Creek Pass. There are lots of cows.

    So this is a great video - I've watched this several times to prepare for my upcoming trip. I know the NEMO let you down - but I had picked that one out as well - REI member also, so I'm gonna take the risk as you like it so much, however - I got the Tensor alpine, is that the same one you had, I've seen reviews on that that say they hold up. Also, if you don't mind, I just notice your hunting knife, (Is that a Benchmade)? I was wondering if you got that locking sheath separate, I was going to take a Buck knife so my hunting knife didn't skin me alive or stab me to death if I fell and it came out of the leather sheath... anyway, thanks for the advice.

    • @AudreyAdventures
      @AudreyAdventures  Рік тому +1

      So I think the tensor alpine air is pretty much the same thing as the insulated tensor except it has a slightly higher R value (so a little warmer) and is a couple ounces heavier. Despite my tensor not holding up, I liked it so much that I took it back to REI and got a new one because the comfort level is a game changer for me. So I hope yours holds up! I would def just recommend bringing some glue along just in case. Lemme get back to you about the knife. I didn’t know what I was looking for so I asked my dad to get me one when I hiked the AT and this is what he got me. 😊

      Lastly, I promise, to save a couple hundred bucks and spend it on other stuff I need I got the Nemo tent you borrowed and reviewed vs the Z-Pack, which I definitely wanted. I know you didn’t use the Nemo on the CT, but I still have time to rethink that, how do you think that Nemo would do on the CT? Any thoughts? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

      @@aaron_6281_ Oh no worries, I’m happy to answer any questions. I haven’t used a Nemo tent, though my friend Pika has used a Nemo for ages and loves it. (I used to have a Big Agnes and I’ve borrowed a Gossamer Gear). She used her Nemo during her CT thru-hike too and it worked great.

    Sounds like you are understandably excited about your CT hike. Enjoy yourself. Have you ever considered daily disposable contacts especially for your longer hikes? More expensive but very comfortable and convenient. It seems like the stretch around Hw 114 would be especially challenging for resupply. Interested in seeing how you're handling that.

    • @AudreyAdventures
      @AudreyAdventures  2 роки тому

      I am soooo excited! 😄 Nah, daily contacts would just be more bulk and more waste. I use monthly and they work just fine for me. Never had any issues with them on trail. Where is Highway 114?

      @@AudreyAdventures contact lens wise; good call if it isn't broke don't fix it. I think 114 is the dividing line between segments 17 and 18 approx. 1/2 way.

    I am still listening and liking your videos. Literally, with the like button. I was going to hike mount Elbert this year but my companionship canceled and flying tickets prices rose to a maximum and I have to postpone it for next year. How did that zpacks tent work for you on your Colorado Trail hike? Would you have rather have had a duplex?

    • @AudreyAdventures
      @AudreyAdventures  Рік тому +1

      It was great! I would not rather have a Duplex because I like having a trekking pole free at all times so that’s a big reason I went with the plexamid. A little more space would be nice but not worth the trade off to me.

    You are probably out on your hike now. I was hoping to be doing some short 2-4-night section hikes on and near the CT in the latter half of august. But unfortunately, I'm on about the 4th day of a moderate covid infection, so that isn't going to happen. Still hoping to get out that way in early to mid-October. I would really appreciate any suggestions on sections that you find particularly enjoyable and would still be doable in October. Currently checking out some of your older videos for ideas. Thanks in advance if you find time to reply.

    While you are on the CT, as you run into people from out of state would you note how they arranged their travel?
    I am planning a CT thru-hike in August 2024 when I retire from the military. Currently the plan is to drive to Durango, park my truck in long term parking at the airport then take the Bustang to Denver (via Grand Junction) to start the trail but I would be really interested to hear if there is a better way.
    I guess I could fly, and I may if the airlines sort their issues out by then, but what I like about driving is that how fast or slow I hike doesn't matter.
    I hope your trip is awesome, looking forward to following along!

    • @AudreyAdventures
      @AudreyAdventures  2 роки тому +1

      Sure, I can try to ask people. I have a couple of friends coming from out of state and they are flying. I think that’s how most people do it, and just grab a shuttle or Uber to the trailhead. And personally I’ll be flying back to Denver from Durango at the end. But happy to ask around to see if anyone is driving. There’s also a Colorado Trail Facebook group that I’m sure you could ask! And thank you very much!
