Hi, I'm Audrey. But on trail, I'm known as Glowstick. In 2018, I quit my amazing job in Washington, D.C., to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. I loved every second of it! Now, I'm living the dream in Boulder, Colorado, hiking, skiing, and paddleboarding in my free time, and dreaming of my next big adventure. I'm here to share my joy for the great outdoors and adventures big and small. I share information about thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail, hiking trail spotlights, how tos, hiking gear tips and tricks, vlogs from my backpacking trips, and more. Follow me on Instagram @audipayne and feel free to reach out if there's a specific trail or topic you'd like me to cover! Welcome to the Jungle! Manaslu Circuit Trek (Nepal) Day 1 - Machhakhola to Jagat
I hiked the Manaslu Circuit around Mt. Manaslu in Nepal, the 8th highest peak in the world, from October 28 to November 6. This is day 1!

Hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2024? Here are six tips for a successful thru-hike!
Hello enjoying your hike so far and using it for research for possibly doing the Colorado trail next summer. Can you tell me what date you guys started and finished? I’m thinking August but I’m not sure and we’re thinking about doing August as well. Thank you for putting out these videos I appreciate it. Marmalade PCT 23
Hi! We were out there August 4 to September 4. 😊
Your video quality is excellent, but views are falling short. I can help resolve these issues if you're interested.
Stunning. I’ve only ever really seen Everest base camp videos of this area so this is great and different. Looks amazing. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
@@susietopspin I really wanted to do something a little more off the beaten path. This one was still busier than I expected though!
Thank you for the way you do your channel. Not click bate, not just you sitting at home discussing some hiking related topic, instead you showcase the scenery, wildlife cultural and social aspect of the amazing hikes you are actually doing. Exactly what I think a hiking channel should be. Thank you again for sharing a tiny bit of your amazing adventures with us.
And thank YOU, Ken, for always being so positive, supportive, and kind! ❤️
Awesome
I'm 1 second in and I've already said, "WOW!" with my jaw dropping to the floor!😳 Those mountains are amazing!
It gets better! 😁
WHAT!!!! Come on, Audrey.... 12:30 You didn't offer to help carry something for that guy?? 😊
You can’t imagine how much these Nepalese guys babied me. You would have thought I’d never been hiking before LOL. 🤣
So jealous!
Good video. That first bit in the bottom of the valley looked very flood susceptable. I do get a chuckle when people visiting distant countries expect them to have the same sanitary standards as the US. Men from poorer countries have to make a living as they can. The guide company is probably an important financial resource for the locals. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
@@richardross7219 Haha oh trust me I have been around and seen some things, but it’s been a minute since I’ve been in a country with squatter toilets haha! And you’re absolutely right about making a living. Our guide told us that it’s a huge problem in Nepal - there just aren’t many jobs. Young people have to leave the country because they can’t get hired anywhere. But yes I think tourism definitely helps! There were plenty of tourists out there so I imagine these guiding companies are for sure adding to the economy.
Thanks for sharing. Those mountains are in the big leagues of mountains. They will make the Colorado mountains seem small I am sure. This is one of those trips that you will need a vacation from when you get off this vacation, lol. It looks awesome. I am happy for you. Take care
Excellent! Thank you for this vicarious vacation. Now I'm wondering if you've been to Tiffin's Momo Corner? Check out the reviews. Lots of people say it has the most authentic Nepali food in Colorado, and it's right here. 🥰
@@Peter_S_ I have been to Tiffins India Cafe (it’s my roommate’s favorite Indian place here - delicious!) but not the Momo Corner one. 😊 There is also a Nepalese restaurant near me in South Boulder that opened up a couple months ago that I need to check out at some point. I just don’t eat out much unless I’m traveling. It feels so expensive these days and I spend all my extra money on my trips haha!
I don’t know about those roads…. I would be 💩 my pants..😂😂😂. Amazing views. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
@@susietopspin Haha mostly I was just bothered that there was so much shaking in the car that I couldn’t fall asleep. I took a Dramamine and was soooo sleepy but it was too bumpy to actually sleep!
Good morning 😊❤😊❤
@@nicolaspaulien4173 ☀️😄
What a great adventure it looks like you had. Fantastic that Dory and Ibex, I think it was, could join you.
@@kennethschaidle5995 Absolutely! Nepal was wonderful! 😄 No Ibex for this one. Just Dori and some new friends!
@@AudreyAdventures Opps I thought she was off in the background on the first one of this series. Definitely looking forward to the rest of them.
Nice video. Those are scary roads. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Sorry another question, did you have any luggage you stored in town while you hiked? If so where?
@@carolyncoe131 Yes. I stayed at the same hostel before and after the trek, and they had a luggage room.
@ hummm okay I thought booking before and after at a location they would store our luggage, they will be at $5000 pesos a day.
@@carolyncoe131 Oh ours did not charge us
I thru hiked in 2019. It was amazing. Im thinking about doing it again.
Oh man I would LOVE to do it again!

@@Killuminatiforlyfe Excellent!!! What did you get?
@@AudreyAdventures got the rei trailmade 60. It was on sale for $90 had to snag it
Round trip Ferry to VVR is 40 bucks. Plus 30 dollars to send the box. Getting it delivered to Mur Trail ranch is 90 bucks. One is too expensive? MTR is also next to Blaney Meadows hot springs. Good place to rest, get clean (soak in the hot springs).
@@shawnheneghan4110 VVR is a whole experience where they treat you with kindness, have massive hiker boxes, let you stay for free, and have a delicious restaurant and hot showers in site. I’ve heard from many that MTR treats hikers like shit. So yes, one is too expensive.
This looks like an amazing trip! All those Monkeys 🐒🙂
Are you really fun to be around in real life or this is just for the video?
I guess you'd have to ask my friends (or my enemies). 😜
Hope you have a fantastic trip. Pretty exciting stuff.
Beautiful thank you
I've been anxiously waiting for this one!! This is on our bucket list in the near future, so I'm taking lots of notes. ;-) Can't wait for the next episode(s)

@@johnholliday1695 Thank you! I am certainly trying! 😊
Majestic 👍
Awesome! on my hiking bucket list.
Highly recommend this hike. Possibly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been!
I paid up for premium UA-cam because I hate commercials and UA-cam is essentially my major form of entertainment. I am happy to see they pay you a little more for my premium subscription. I know it’s not much but maybe as more people pay up you will make a little more money. You create nice content and should be paid. Take care
Thank you! I appreciate that. :) And I don't blame you for wanting to skip the ads!
Yes people you can hike the trail for much less money and yes it can be hiked in less than 5 to 7 months but the truth is most people will take at least four months, eat restaurant food, stay in hostels or motels and not eat noodles and crap food. Just how it is.
Absolutely. But people always get mad when I talk about the costs of things haha!
I have been watching your videos on the CT and I can see why you like the CW more. The CE is still beautiful but in a different way. I plan on taking the CW is the weather is kind. The other reason is no mountain bikers. I mountain bike but I will do my best to avoid them: take care
I do my best to avoid mountain bikers as well! :) The bonus of the CE though: Princeton Hot Springs hehe.
I mean if I have to go an extra 9 miles, that is a deal breaker. :)
I know right. :)
Seems like you have plenty of food. I will be starting my hike this coming August and I plan on stopping in Jefferson. I believe they take resupply boxes at the general store. I will be hiking with my dog and I carry all of her food and gear so my pack can get pretty heavy even though my base weight falls into the UL category. I am an East Coaster and that first 100 or so should be a challenge. The thin air is an issue for me and I am not young anymore. I feel by the time we get to Twin Lakes we will feel much better. We are going to stay a few days or longer in Breck. My wife is going to fly out and visit us. She was learning about the trail and she told me I should watch your videos, she knows what she is doing she said. I told her I have watched them all and some multiple times. Take care
That was so sweet of your wife to say! I like to think I know what I'm doing hahaha. The time in Breck will help you acclimate - it's up there in the mountains. And by the end of the trail, I bet you won't even notice the elevation. Just take it slow and you'll be fine!
Every hiker in the wilderness should carry a gun where legal. ONLY 13 murders? That is still 13 too many!! Always carry bear spray and a pistol.
Thank you
You’re welcome! 😄
That's a long tiring hike but thrilling and rewarding ❤
Excellent photograaphy !!!! Sorry you didn't have better weather.
Thank you! And no worries - we absolutely loved the trail anyway! One of my all-time faves. :) And the weather made it empty which was pretty magical.
I can smell the ocean as you are hiking the high water line. It’s just beautiful!! Did you have much of a problem with condensation in your tent??
Nope, no condensation in the tent!
Wow, that is quite a thing to see. Very rare to see even 2 bulls together. Nice backdrop too. Thanks for sharing that.
Thanks for all the information. I am debating on the bear sack. If you go the REI site the reviews for the Ursack are very up and down. The people that love them have never had a bear try to get into them and the people that hate them will tell you they did nothing to stop a bear. I am certainly not carrying a bear can so I guess will flip a coin. I will admit for decades I slept with my food and sometimes I still do. I have never had an issue. Thanks for sharing all of your experience. I am taking notes and making my plans for 2025. I am excited and nervous. The altitude, blazing sun and T storms concern me. I am sure I will adjust. Take care
I always pair the Ursack with an odor-proof bag. I'm sure this system is not infallible, but I have used it a ton in the backcountry and never had an issue. And I've had rodents chew on my shoes a few times in the night in my vestibule but have never noticed any chew marks on my Ursack haha! So I think it is doing something. :)
I was planning on doing the CT this year but it did not happen. My wife has a big surgery so I was needed at home. I am back on for next year, 2025. This will be my first long distance hike in the West. I am an East Coast AT, LT hiker. My concerns are altitude, T storms, blazing sun and water. I plan on starting late August or early September. I am trying to avoid the heat. I have skied Colorado a lot so I know how the altitude feels. Back in the day I drove out from Massachusetts and pulled a permit and climbed the Grand Teton. I made the climb but got very sick. I was like my worst hangover. I hike with my dog so I will be bypassing those first few miles. I plan on taking is easy until my lungs adjust. I will watch your videos again and take some notes. Thanks so much.
Ahhh sorry about your wife but I hope she is doing well now/ has recovered! As far as your concerns, there is plenty of water on the CT. There's just a couple of spots where you have to carry it for 10 miles or so but as long as you're paying attention to where the next water source is, it's totally fine. If you start in late August/ early September, you will also likely miss monsoon season, which is what brings in the afternoon storms. You will probably still have to deal with heat though unfortunately, at least until you get high into the mountains. As far as altitude... the nice thing is that you start fairly low (around 5,000 or 6,000 feet) and climb up slowly and stay fairly high. So I personally did not have any issues. You could always bring some Diamox along if you're nervous about it!
Did you book the buses a head of time?
@@carolyncoe131 No, we booked at the bus stop. It was a little stressful though so would recommend booking in advance.
@@AudreyAdventures Thanks we are hiking the O in January!! Getting excited. Everything booked but the buses
Do you know who the bus company is?
@@carolyncoe131 We used two different companies but I think Bus Sur was the better one with more time options if my memory serves me. torresdelpaine.com/en/torres-del-paine-2/how-to-get-to/roadways/bus-sur/
Beautiful. Incidentally, the rock you show in 14:45 is the Winthrop glacier.
Those glaciers were really fooling me haha
@@AudreyAdventures they are a little confusing as there can be so much rockfall on top, particularly for the lower elevations.
Thank you for the video. Did the same in 2023 starting Aug 4 & did not document like this so it’s a perfect reliving of mytrip too!! Thanks again!!!!
Wow I wonder if we crossed paths at all!
Great video, thanks! I've just come back to Buenos Aires from my third time in Calafate/ El Chaltén, and already planning my Torres del Paine trip for summer 25/26. Your tips are super helpful! 🌞
Awesome! I really want to go back and explore more! Do you have any favorite hikes down there?
