@@TheRCBiker yep, went out with it, needed to close it off a tiny tiny bit to stop it wanting to go forward while it should be idol and now it doesn't and I can still stop it completely without it cutting out or struggling! 🤘
This was very helpful!! Despite crappy mixture setting, I now managed to get my Kyosho RAV4 .10 GS11X (Which hasnt been run in 12-13 years) to idle :)

In Tank primers never work very well. Try to block the exhaust and pull the starter, it's a more accurate way of priming and won't flood your engine :) Josh

I found the easiest way to do this is... Take 1 of those AutoZone reward points cards. The small ones (key chain 1s) . These cards are approximately .7mm so cut one in shape of screwdriver make sure thin enough to fit in carb and throat of idle piston. This is the perfect size for the factory reset. Mine was all messed up. Couldn't get it right. Finally ran across some feelers. Well they were to big to put down carb so I took 1 and measured things that were close to the size of the feeler. And , the rewards card was a little bigger than the feeler. Worked perfectly. Thank God. Let the fun begin
@njaslayer A good question ;) Only thing I can say is, Nitro cars have totally different systems, the engines are different as well. On a nitro engine you cant control the clutch, it works through throttle only. Which is why, if I put the car up against a brick wall and accelerated, the engine will still rev, but wont move. also, the central gearboxes of these Nitro models have slipper clutches, which means that the transmission would still spin, even if the wheels weren't :) cheers

Thank you. I got this Traxxas 2.5 tmaxx and it was seized once I got it. I took the engine apart, cleaned it, and put it back together. I got it running today but it would Rev pretty high and the wheels would start going very quickly. I had to use the brake to go a normal speed. And I blew the glow plug after about five minutes and it's brand new. So how can I lower the engine temp?

@sjiyuey I don't recall saying the Firestorm is better, I said they are both good cars but Hyper 7 is heavy :) No need to be confused, different people have different opinions which is why your getting different opinions.
Try the in line primers. They might be better than the tank primers :)

It sorts the rev out like how much rev it needs to start without running away
Also you need to check when applying the brakes it doesn't close the gap else it will stall
I am thinking about getting my first nitro rc buggy im thinking about the redcat racing tornado s30 and i need to know how to manage the thing like do i need to use a cetain type of nitro do i need to use oil in it i just need to know everything to get it running and to keep it running for a long time and everything i need to keep it running in good shape answer as soon as you can thanks.

If you feel that 1mm is still too much open can you close the gap a little bit more? And is that still ok?
Is it better to have the gap small and quiting or will that destroy the engine
Because my one keeps running slowly away so on normal I have to put the breaks on
I have the same carb on my tomohawk. The rotary Is so stiff its not drivable. Ive clean the slide pice fully yet its just not smooth. Any suggestions
I wonder why the Nitro Car doesn't stall if it is idling since it is connected directly to the wheels. My manual car would stall if the engine is connected to the wheels and if I apply to brakes because the wheels are preventing the engine from turning. Why doesn't that happen on a Nitro car?
Do you set the EPA and idle without a venturi or with the venturi inside?
my idle screw for my hsp backwash 18 was missing and i bought a new a sh18 idle screw from wheelspin models but it won't screw in with the flat head screwdriver. is there supposed to be a little spring on the screw because on the one i got from wheelspin models there isn't a spring. btw its the same engine as this

yo i have a question i got the same engine and it was running fine but i messed with the carb and now i cant get the damn thing to start. So was wondering do u know the factory setting for the hsn and lsn. Well any info would be great take it easy and peace out.

hey how you going just been getting into this again its been a long time but i brought a truck/truggie of a mate i know what i need to do im just wondering can you tell me what truck/buggy/truggie you are using in this video for the one i brought is damn identical to yours except where you have the blue plate/s next to your servo (right hand side of this pic) mine is a big plastic box with batteries an that... so just after a make an model an all that jazz on your truck so i have something to work with when shopping for parts an shit mine is 1/10 an holds same engine as yours here i think the vx-18 so if you could help in any way be more than appreciated cheers (Y)
I can't turn my idle speed screw it's incredibly tight. It turns a tiny bit but then it just won't budge. Any ideas how to fix it?
Loosen the idle screw and turn down the throttle trim. :) that will solve it

I could never get the idle right on my nitro car. The engine used to rev too low and cut or it would splutter and start flooding.

for some reason my screw is very tight and is the same like the idle gap is like in this vid it is hard to adjust the idle gap but the screw is tight for some reason....

fix your servo/turn low speed needle to flush/make sure carb gap is 1mm open
you need to turn the screw anti-clockwise to close the gap so it revs less

+obey julian Adjust the idle screw. As seen in this video. Reduce the carb opening.
hey just looking at your exhaust does anyone think its important to have a exhaust gasket or could you just use gasket maker or something clean to do it as there are no hobby shops near me that sell parts
Use Card and little oil to seal it it's what we do with a motorbike engine with a broken gastket

christina bush Well, assuming your nitro car is like any normal RC engine setup, you should take off the entire air filter assembly and you should see the carb, now next to the carb locate the carb adjusting screw, and then adjust it till the only hole visible is 1mm (About the thickness of a credit card)

check your throttle trim. or just apply brake and you will see the gap change. yuor engine will still rev if your throttle isnt tight to the idle though so make sure thats properly adjusted. hope this helps

every time I hit my brakes my car dies could this be cause my idle gap is not set properly
yes had that happen just pull your air cleaner off set it with your transmitter the throttle trim and reset your idle very simple you just have the servo moving to far just back it off a little or your brakes will not work you might have the throttle rode out of ajustment 2 good luck

tyler richard the thottle trim should be on you controller it just tweaks where the servo sit at idling position

Can you tune any screws with the engine off?
No.. Car needs to be running and engine need to be warm for tuning.

@@roymendoza530 google the factory settings for you motor and start from there.. Most cars will be 3 turns out from all the way tight..

I finally went out and bought a nitro car " hpi firestorm 10t " and I literally just had a run away and I'm sure this was the reason. Because I didn't let it run away its completely striped my spur gear smh
