I love a world where we can now meet emotional needs AND conform to a polite world in a place of safety. I think this is a really well integrated model. I see the work that y’all are doing. A lot of people can’t be polite because a lot of their negative experiences in childhood occurred in a polite way right, and many people who had psychological harm inflicted on them had cultural pressure to be nice to them, so an emotionally informed way to renter this space with consent is really groundbreaking I want to say thank u again for posting this have a great day
I need this book. Im a koreanAmerican, lived in both countries and i dont want to raise my kids being confused when i have them. Ive been feeling left out in both country and i shut my personality out for so long i lost myself. This book might help me to improve who i am now. Cant wait to get it.
Love this angle. Education is all about empowerment- when you really know how to use a skillset you’re free to decide when and how to use it. I think the stereotypical etiquette class (like what my mom had to do) was less about learning or teaching and more about TRAINING and instruction.
Im so impolite and vulgar and totally have no manners lmao. This is good for me, I like being myself but I still want to learn HOW to have etiquette as an extremely argumentative, philosophically investigative person who has to use conflict resolution every single day and talk about hard stuff with people I have perfect “manners” when people need space to communicate but my emphasis is on leading with curiosity not politeness, because being messy is needed when people have a mess to deal with especially in the home. I spend so much time working with the abnormal I do really crave normalcy at times. Thank u for this
I loove the topic and the vibe, but the whole conversation felt a bit forced. It seemed like there was a rush to discuss a lot and that's why it lacked natural flow between topics. I'd prefer it to be more like a continuous, connected discussion, now it seems more like a Q&A
It's very valuable to acknowledge that just because finishing school was traditionally women only, doesn't mean that the skills aren't still valuable. Hopefully no one is telling men they can't go or women that they have to. Sidenote: is it enby privilege or erasure to not be considered lol
Why does the host speak like that. It hurts my ear. The one who has written the book talks in her real voice, but the one asking questions, why do you speak like that. USE YOUR REAL VOICE!!
I felt guest is really amazing and know what she speaks about. The host needs to get some training to ask questions and groove the interview more interesting.
Dude isnt Ally very lazy with her voice?? Im asian so im guessing thats how most people in the US sound like But who else noticed the difference between the voices of both the ladies...yah ik they're different and im not judging or anything But its just me trying to police her with positive critism which would help her grow maybe
the host is very irritating and boring and have no point while she talks, sara is very interesting and even those chatGPT questions she made it very interesting and when host talks it becomes boring
what background does she have?? I am from Asia. she cannot generalize this situation. I was born and raised in one of East Asia country. We do open gifts in front of friends and family, and show how happy we are and share our emotions with them. Probably, she was raised in Asia family in Western country where I heard they can be really conservative because they usually communicate only with immigrants who have old backgrounds from their family and Asian neighbors? This is one of the examples but she generalizes all situations differently showing them we are different… but that is not true, or maybe it happens only in China or in her country neighborhoods or family. I hope everyone doesn’t misunderstand our Asian culture only from this video
Great guest, the host tho - reminds of Loudermilk in that scene with the barista and her whiney American accent. Speak properly with confidence like the guest!
Tiktok sent me here. And i wasn't disappointed 😊
Same
Me too!
Literally 5 minutes ago I was watching a snippet on Tiktok now I'm here 😅
Me too😂
Me too!
Watched a 30 sec or 1 minute Instagram reel and i already learned 3 things about culture, and here i am, such a rich and beautiful conversation 💌
I was ready and in it for a full hour. And sadly realized it’s like 20 min. Loved this. Sarah seems like the coolest

Great podcast! I love the topic . I will be buying the book

This was so good! I wish it was longer.
This very important💯🙏
This is so cool. One of the best podcasts I have ever had.
We need this back , the school should have that subject back etiquette and protocol, mandatory.
Both of these women have such a beautiful skin
Thanks for this useful podcast, both ladies are amazing and articulated.
Wow so much insight wrapped in a short time. 😄
What a lady with grace and interesting things to say! Wished it was much, much longer interview tho

Sara Jane makes etiquerre very empowering!

I love this topic…. 👏🏻❤

i agree, it would’ve been a lot better if she expanded on and further questioned sarah jane ho’s responses instead of asking new unrelated questions.
Yes that’s prolly why a lot of podcasts are 1-2hrs, so the people can warm up to each other well
I agree…. wanna to hear more of Sara love this topic going to get the book
Thank you Sara and Ally
IG pushed me here❤❤
This episode was very insightful
BUT VERY SHORT
Wow really powerful! Love it! I’m going to buy the book
Instagram showed me❤
that was very interesting thsnk you!
insta reel landed me here.who else?
Lol me too
I wish here in America gifts were not a necessity and make you feel so dam bad if you do not get enough gifts or decent gifts
Instagram reels sent me here 😅

Instagram sent me here 😂
Lol me too
00:20 the way she pronounce it😬✌️ idk but ig it should be pronounce as sounds as "who"? Or I am wrong?

Happy
Thank you
I wish etiquette and teaching etiquette was not limited to just one gender. If only that much effort was put into teaching everyone.
Why ruin such a good conversation by bringing the zodiac into it.
ultimately nothing is 'normal' but we must admit - norms do tie communities together.
Thank you tick-tock
2 months later 😂 here from instagram reels 🎉
I felt guest is really amazing and know what she speaks about. The host needs to get some training to ask questions and groove the interview more interesting.
the interviewer sounded sleepy and not interested..have more energy and try to be spontaneous and conversational instead of reading thru scripts

Why is the host trying so hard to be MASCULINE ??? what is it with the deep voice ??
❤
❤❤❤
TikTok says hi.
China is progressing in the past years, but the government made many mistakes now that ppl lost its trust, sad though for ordinary ppl.
Cultured
the host is very irritating and boring and have no point while she talks, sara is very interesting and even those chatGPT questions she made it very interesting and when host talks it becomes boring
and voice is very very irritating, cant listen with earphones, she can just talk normally
You sound like Paris Hilton :P

The comment section is rude af. lol The irony.
Shes got a slight new zealand accent am i off the mark?
Yup cause all asian countries have the exact same culture. Smh
Great guest, the host tho - reminds of Loudermilk in that scene with the barista and her whiney American accent. Speak properly with confidence like the guest!
Sagittarius??? Take it and shove it, sister.
Once she said she was a Sagittarius, she lost all credibility with me.
😂😂😂
ok 👍
@@ToastSandw1ch you get it, right?
She said so many good things and you will ignore them because she was talking about her zodiac sign?
@@c-dzy she believes in magic 😕
Ally, it would be helpful if you worked on your voice not being crackly. It's extremely distracting.
Vocal fry 💀
Sweet
i like everything about her except the "ho" in her name, it doesnt sound right, doesnt do her justice
