I remember this TAS. So what's going on here is, as long as the correct answer is within the phrase, the game will accept it. For example, the first answer is BAKER, but you can fit in extra letters around the actual answer, so "i BAthed KEanu Reeves" counts. The word Baker is still within that phrase.
There are some exceptions to this. Such as "Oops I pressed it" > Speed Limit. I'm no game programmer but my theory is that the game is looking for a certain amount of letters in the entered phrase to qualify as an answer. For "Oops I pressed it", it got the Speed part (oopS i PrEEsseD) but Limit is only 2 letters long (IT). But since the game recognized SPEED and since IT is part of Limit, then the game reads the entered phrase as the correct answer. I encourage anybody who is more intelligent than me to assess the validity of this theory.

And anything the SNES game says, goes - and whoever wins is whoever wins, no matter how they end up winning, and whatever happens in Fast Money is what happens, no matter how ridiculous. (And I do wonder if anyone would manage to get on such a thing, armed with full knowledge of how this version works and how to take advantage of its flaws. But anyway) All this, just to make Steve Harvey lose his mind at the inane and _insane_ answers that might somehow fly.

Egads. I think what’s going on is something related to how they can accept variations on an answer in the game show, since they have a host that can figure out what you meant; for example, if the answer was “pants” and you said something like “pantaloons” or “pair of pants” or “trousers”, the host would accept that. It looks like they tried to code a parser that could ignore extra words, misspellings, synonyms, etc like this, and went horribly wrong by putting no limits on it because they didn’t try breaking it with nonsense like this.

Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped.
@@WeirdVideoGames Nobody is getting upset on your behalf, at best you should be condemned for changing and altering what is arguably one of the ten most famous TASes of all time. Changing it years later because you or somebody else does not approve of what happened in one part of it is tampering with history, whether you think it is or not.
@@WeirdVideoGames You shouldn't approve of it at all. History being changed isn't something to "just get over", it's the equivalent of a statue of a historical figure being disfigured, changed or torn down just because some people many years later don't approve of one part of what that person did when they were alive - even if the descendants of the person the statue was modelled after approve of it that doesn't magically make it right. Like it or not and for better or for worse your TAS is / was a cultural lankmark in the history of TASes, and to altar it well over a decade later because somebody didn't like one part of it is a travesty that should never have been allowed by anybody. You and others don't like to like it, it's simply historic and should never he tampered with.
Family Feud on SNES works differently from other video game versions of the show; The answers you give don't exactly have to be what's on the board, but all letters used in an answer's word have to be present and in order. So for example, if the answer is "Football", you could write "Four robots bake lentils" and the game will register that _as_ "Football", because it contains all the letters that spell the word, in proper order.
In addition to what NunofYerbizness said, the game has a list of synonyms and misspellings that it accepts. Like at 5:10, when the answer provided is "swiss murder suit" while the board shows "bathing suit", because it recognizes "swimsuit" in "SWIss Murder SUIT". Similarly, in the Fast Money Round, "Franklin D. Roosevelt" becomes "children" because "kids" is in "franKlIn D. rooSevelt". It also seems to accept "stpo" for "stop" and "pant" for "pants". Special mention to "ogres allowed sparingly" for "keep off the grass", because the game is only looking for "gras".
Why of all things does a TAS video need to be censored? How much history do you people need to scrub clean before you are satisfied? Will there be anything from my childhood left?
Is it really censorship when the author themselves have openly said that they're revising it due to changing social standards? Or would you like your minstrel shows back with your human zoos?
