Paul wrote "Hey Jude" for Julian, to secretly support him when he was so sad because of the definitive separation of Cynthia and John. Julian was 5 at the time and Paul got the idea and inspiration one day just driving to Cynthia's home to visit her and Julian. He was completely aware about how much both were suffering.
It’s magical how both Julian and Sean sound like their father but they still sound different from each other. Such talented kids. I’m glad they have a wonderful relationship with each other and their father’s best friend.
This was John's favourite ever song of Paul's and told him it was a great song. The only time he ever really praised Paul personally on his songwriting. Beautifully performed Sean 👌
I can think of at least 2 more times John publicly acknowledged Paul’s songs right off the top of my head. In his lyrics in how do you sleep he says the only thing you did was Yesterday so right there he is saying that Yesterday was a great song and he said that Paul’s Song Coming up was a song he loved and couldn’t get out of his head and that it inspired the competitor in him and made him get off his a$$ and make some more music after a long hiatus. If that’s not praising him personally I don’t know what is.
It was John’s favourite McCartney song - but you made the last bit up 😂 Lennon praised many McCartney songs. Just off the top of my head, but he’s on record saying he loved Hey Jude, Oh Darling, Fool on the Hill. And For No One was one of his favourite Beatles songs, written by anyone
@@chrisjames6327 I did not make the last bit up! I’m not a liar. He actually said that in an interview. After he and Paul had made up I heard him with my own ears and the reason I remembered it was because I liked the song too. Why would I make something like that up?

Paul was inspired to write this after listening to the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" Mojo Magazine rates "Here, There and Everywhere" as the 4th greatest song of all time! It has always been right up there as one of my all time favorites by the Beatles!
@@philc.5100 1) "In My Life" (The Beatles), 2) "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (The Rolling Stones), 3) "Over The Rainbow" (Judy Garland). From what I can find, that was the list back in 2000 and as of the December 2020 list, it still remains that way. (As per Spotify, these were updated Jan 24, 2021 with the exception of "Satisfaction" which was last updated Nov 19, 2011). Of course, the entire top 100 list is updated periodically but apparently those top 4 spots have remained the same so far. unless someone finds a more updated Mojo list that I've missed
Yes! At 20 years old I checked out the ultimate Beatles influence of their Blue Album era by buying the album "Pet Sounds" in 1994. "That's Not Me" at track 3 on the first hearing made me realize that the album was eternally magic
I agree, there should be list of this kind for any type of music but, if drcided to make an unified one and particularly "of all time", a bigger and more accurate effort must be made in the selection of songs (including more participants). In this case of Modjo's one, in my opinion and talking only about Beatles' songs or even John's or Paul's songs for The Beatles, there are enough songs better than 'In my life' and 'Here, there...'. Both are very good ballads with nice lyrics but not enough to be as high in such a list. Only in "Revolver" I prefer 'Im only sleeping' and 'For no one', for example and continuing with ballads. But there are several mid or uptempo Beatles songs or other ballads that I like and enjoy much more. And then came other artists or bands songs... The Beatles are my favorite group but the huge amount of great quality music that was made in the 60's and 70's make unfair to even try to ellaborate this kind of lists. I cannot imagine a top list of "all time best songs" without seeing on it 'The sounds of silence' (Simon & Garfunkel), 'White room' (Cream), 'California dreaming' (Mama's & Papa's), 'Born to be wild' (Steppenwolf), 'Sky pilot' (The Animals) to name only a few of "obligatory ones"😊! And only 60's songs and haven't still mentioned my favourite Beatles' songs that must be there. And, as you can see, I'm not only a Beatles fan but also rock music fan, including almost al offshoots from it. So, I'm also not including jazz, country, blues (in strict sense), folk, soul, disco, salsa, etc. Of course that fans of those types of music would ask for their favorite songs to be on the list, remenbering that Mojo's title (in this case) is "The best songs of all time". Undoubtedly a very risky title that surely led to a very incomplete list. Even me would suggest to include a great salsa song called 'Pedro Navaja (La vida te da sorpresas) / Pedro Navaja (Life brings you surprises)'!!! Best to all.
